1998 Yamaha YZF-R1 Motorcycle
About Yamaha YZF-R1 Motorcycles - Introduced in 1998, the Yamaha YZF-R1 Sportbike will long be remembered by motorcyclists as the most significant superbike model of the decade. Since that time, the Yamaha YZF-R1 went through several modifications including aerodynamic changes to the bodywork, a new fuel injection system, an underseat exhaust system, radial brakes, Ram-air intake, an extended swingarm and an all-new four-cylinder engine. In 2009, Yamaha engineers again redesigned the YZF-R1 taking technology from the M1 Moto GP bike. The Yamaha YZF-R1 became the first production motorcycle to use a crossplane crankshaft, providing a more linear power delivery. With overall handing improvements to the frame and suspension and the new D-Mode throttle control, this Yamaha YZF-R1 continues to be impressive both on and off the track.
