I do NOT have a world of experience. I've been riding for four years. These are my second pair of boots; the first was a different brand.
The Alpinestar Roam 2 boots fit true to size; just a little tight at first, which is right for leather boots that you have to break-in.
Shortly after getting them, I was confident enough that I wore them on a 1700 mile tour; 8-10 hr/day. No problems, at all - comfortable, and supportive all day long.
I read the comments that said they made shifting hard. I found that I have to point my toe more consciously when I get ready to shift up. But, after a week, that's now just natural, no problem.
I was caught in an hour long thunderstorm, complete with big winds, hail, and massive downpours. My KLIM pants and Alpinestar Roam 2 boots keep me warm and dry from the waist down.:)) I need a better jacket. :(
I've only had the boots for a couple of months, so I can't rate durability. But, from what I've seen so far, they are well made and SHOULD last just fine.
Surprisingly, very good pair of boots for the price.
Almost perfect fit. I'm a size 10-10.5 and since they don't offer half sizes, I ordered the 10s.
Yes, tight at first. But they stretched out nicely without using bee's wax.
This will be the third pair of this boot for me.
Originally labeled Oxtar, I've seen no difference in fit and quality between the two. They are comfortable right out of the box and this latest pair was no exception.... wearing them to a rally down in the North GA mountains this past week. Very happy.
I have a pair of these since about August 2008. It was around February 2016 when the gear shitfter pad gave. They withstood seven years of constant week-end riding and hiking through rain and sun. Very durable and comfortable; Also very lightweight and sturdy at the same time. Yes they do get hot inside, but that is part of its impermeability.
I ordered a size 10. Typically for shoes I wear a 9.5. Even with the size 10, it fits like a 9.5 or detestably a larger size 9. I knew for a fact an 11 wouldn't fit me because I've never ranged that high, but if you wear a 10 or 10.5 for most of your shoes I'd order an 11. Other than that, these boots are exactly what I was looking for as far as height, durability, and style. Great product, no regrets at all!
