2nd Rear Tire & Still on the 1st Front.

Just ordered my 2nd 009 Raven Rear. The 1st front is still 80% after about 15,000kms. Tread life is great and worked well for me in both dry and wet conditions on a Versys 650. Most of my miles are long distance multi day trips south or north from Canada. So 75% of my riding is pretty straight country roads or highway miles and secondary highway roads to the twisty stuff down south or up north. Thus I need a hard tire or they square off quick. In the mountain twisty roads the tires worked great, never let go pushing as hard as I am comfortable doing. I am not trying to win a Moto GP race on the roads since it's a long walk home, but these tires have been as good as any others I have used over the years and for the cost they will be my tire for a long time. People I ride with have sportier bikes and much more expensive tires and I keep up with them on the mountain roads so I think they would work fine for 90% of riders out there. When new they do seem to fall into corners at a steeper angle than other tires I have used so it took a bit of getting used to. But that's probably why they last so long.

I Love this Raven rear tire as much as my Raven Front...

Please look up my review of the Shinko Raven 009 Front tire... This rear was installed at the same time, and has proven to be excellent in every category, just like it's round, black buddy leading the charge from up front!!! Highly Recommended, even for mid to heavy weight sport touring bikes like the FJR 1300, Connie 14, and my Sukuki 1250FA Bandit. In my opinion, after having tested this set for approx 3,500 miles now, they cannot be beat for excellent road feel, excellent cornering and braking traction, wet traction, and so far, resistance to wear... Try a set. For the money you can't beat them with a stick!!

Works for me

There is no knee dragging where I live and ride, the roads are bad. Frost heaves, wash boards, potholes, poorly patches areas, large cracks, sand, gravel, crazy camber and some of the roads they chip. Well, you get the picture. Rear tires generally only last me 2500 to 4000 miles (I do not do wheelies or burnouts I am an old fart) and a few I paid close to 200 bucks for. I put a set of these on my Honda 500x this spring and have put over 3000 miles on them and the rear shows minimal wear and the front shows almost no wear. I just purchased a set for my VFR and I will be buying another set for my 500f very soon (the rear has 2500 miles and the wear bars are getting close). On conservation and fire roads they are as good as anything else I have tried. Nothing is very good in the deep sand and mud anyway and I have gone over some bad rocks and they have not punctured. They also seem to hold the tarmac well enough and they are predictable around corners. I wanted a tough long lasting tire and these work for me. If I lived in a perfect world with perfect roads perhaps there would be something better, but I don’t. One caveat about this tire is break-in. The first time I took the 500x out after putting these on it scared the hell out of me. I thought I had made a huge mistake buying these. It took about 50 miles to scuff these in before the bike handled properly, but now all is good. I was more prepared for this with the VFR. They are very slick and I certainly would not go out in the rain or slick roads with a fresh set. I am very happy with my purchase and the service and will be buying another set soon. Thanks Motorcycle Superstore.

Great tire. Warms up fast and sticks great. Only drawback is they on last 3000-3500 miles on my Concours 1400 the way I ride. Three rears to one front tire. Going with the -011 Verge next time. My friend who I ride with runs them on his GSXR 1000 and he gets 4500 miles on his rear tire.

Best tire I've ever used

I run these on my 2009 sv650s. they by far are the best tire I've ever used. I ride 80miles round trip to work everyday and I've put almost 10,000 miles on them and I'm now just looking at replacing the rear. love these tires, customer for life!!!!!

Good Mileage

I've read that some are getting 6,500 miles and higher. I can only get 3,000 to 3,500 miles out a back. I'm guessing that I ride much harder than they do. Is anyone else getting the same mileage as I am? I mostly get the same mileage out of all tires. I do find that the tire is a very good tire for the cost.

Cheap price, not cheap product

Installed this on my cbr600rr. Have shinko tires on both wheels and let's me hit corners hard enough to get my knee down. Not the best with wet roads but here in Arizona we don't get much of it so not an issue for me. Will definitely buy again!

009 Raven Rear Tire

I bought the brand a few times but this is the first Raven. When I bought this tire there was a lot of skepticism and I did it anyway. I ran them for 6500 miles on back roads the dry traction for my bike was pretty good but wet traction was scary but was expected since it was a high mileage tire. The odd part is I had to change it out due to a leak and dismounted to patch and it turned out it was tire failure in addition to the puncture. I am glad I did not have to experience full on tire failure that something punctured it first. Steel belt was coming un-layered inside the tire, IMO was from the puncture and road it on flat basically for maybe a mile, was the strangest thing I ever seen. If it were not for the tire fail I probably would have gotten 10k out of the tire easily. Will I buy another, yes. Most would not but I know what to watch for and doing my daily safety checks is tire check I will give another chance and putting 12k a year on my bikes as my only means of transportation is the way I roll. I read one review of swelling did NOT experience this at all with the proper size tire. This tire was mounted on a 1997 Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird that is currently at 8x,xxx miles and a daily rider even in the winter.
