Dunlop Geomax AT81 Rear Tire

The dominant force in pro supercross and motocross with the Geomax MX51, Dunlop has now refocused its energy to the world of off-road racing and has given it the attention it deserves. Named the Geomax AT81, Dunlop has created a tire that is not only physically stronger, but also more adaptable to the huge range of terrain off-road racing covers. Resisting accelerated wear while still keeping a feel that is responsive and compliant over bumps, the Dunlop Geomax AT81 rear tire is the new standard of performance for enduro and GNCC racing.
  • AT 81 rear tread block shape and distribution plus DIRTuitive Grip Design (DGD) knobs help the tire penetrate down through the surface dirt for extra traction across a broad range of off-road applications
  • Newly formulated high-wear-resistant rear tire compound offers enhanced chipping, tearing and wear appearance
  • Geomax AT81 rear tire carcass features two nylon plies
  • Lateral grooves on the shoulder knobs provide additional biting edges and also allow the knobs to be more flexible
  • Rear center blocks are arranged in-line to provide a larger contact patch for maximum traction
  • Dunlop's plush pad recess design between tread blocks enhances compliance for bump absorption and ride comfort
  • Rear is also available in a Desert RC (reinforced construction) compound

AT 81

This is the best tire I've ever used as far as across the board performance. When this tire is new, I have complete trust in it in any condition, sand, mud, clay or rocks, doesn't matter, this tire will hook. However, when the square edge rounds off, the performance of this tire drops quickly but the tread life is very good. This is the only rear tire I use.

ordered thursday rode on saturday

One of my favorite back tires. Ordered it @ 11:00 Thursday and it showed up on my doorstep early Friday afternoon. Spooned it on Friday night for the next day. A little stiff to mount but not really a problem. I'm torn between this one and the vulcaduro ve 33 for the mixed mud, rocks and tree roots I ride on here in western Oregon.

Excellent Tire

I ride a lot of single track in WV. I have the AT81 on front and back. This tire is awesome. I can go down to low pressure and ride all day, never have had a flat. I do use the ultra-heavy duty tubes. The tire has excellent tread life. I just put a new set on, only because I am racing some Harescrambles and wanted to have new tires. However, even when the tread gets worn, the traction is still very good, compared to other tires I have used in the past. While racing last fall, sitting on the start line, another rider tried to psyche me out about my tires, they were worn a bit. He said you are going to have trouble with those. Guess what, I ended up passing him on a hill where he got stuck. I had no problems, could have thought I had a new set of treads on. I will always use AT81's until they come up with a better tire.

Second Rear

This is the second rear for my 2012 WR450F and has great traction and seems to last very good over a wide variety of terrain. Well pleased.

Excellent tire

Though we have only run this in one race we were very impressed with the traction and the ability to clean itself in mud. The race was a real mudder with several racers dropping out due to the extreme tackiness of the soil in that area. This tire was awesome under those conditions and we believe it had a lot to do with our first place finish.

Excellent all around tire.

First thing I noticed with this tire is how it absorbs high-speed hits from rocks and logs. Traction is as best as it gets over anything you encounter here in the northeast. I'm more of a Hard Enduro rider and I can get out of virtually any snag I get caught in with minimal wheelspin. I liked the front/rear combo so much I immediately ordered another set and took advantage of the Dunlop rebates. I'm 200lbs., ride a '13 Husky 310 and run 11psi front and 9 psi rear dry.

Pleasantly Surprised

I ran the non-RC style at the Ought Six Enduro last Saturday. Ran it with Tubliss at 6 PSI on my Beta 300RR. The Enduro turned out to be a mud bath since it rained all night before the race. I was shocked at how well this combination hooked up in the mud. Going up steep, muddy hills I was sure would be a spin fest. No. It grabbed and clawed and made the conditions much easier to negotiate. I highly recommend this tire especially if you run it with Tubliss.

Great Tire - I bought the Desert RC

My RM 250 tends to tear up tires with it's 2-stroke "power on" mentality. I hate buying tires at the price they are today. For $107.00, plus tax and mount at our local shop, I was sure hoping for some BANG for my buck. After a weekend hill climbing session from sand to rocks, I am sold. This tire gave me the confidence to climb higher and safer than the three years prior. Two days of hard core beating, this tire does show slight wear, but no chunks missing irregularities, etc. Paddle on..

Very Good Tire

I have rode two sixty mile rides. The tire has preformed very well. Have not been on a mud ride yet maybe next weekend.

AT81-RC and TUBLISS = INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE EVERYWHERE!!

I ran the NEW AT81 "RC" REAR and the TUBLISS system as low as 3-4psi (due to the extra HD stiff sidewalls. This combined with its soft crown allowed this tire to perform better than ANYTHING I have ran before - in ALL terrains. SIMPLY AMAZING!!!
