Metzeler ME 88

This is the first ME 88 for me. I have always used Metzeler tires since 1972.

THE BEST

These tires are awesome. i have a xvs 1100 and when I got these tires my bike felt different. The handeling on my bike and traction improved significantly. I usually dont write reviews but you have to try these tires.

John

I went from the Bridgestone spitfire to the ME 88 and get almost twice the mileage, 10K easy on the rear and 15K on the front. I ride one up with camping gear on a 88 BMW R100 RS.

Give me another set

I really can't compare to other brands as these are the only I’ve had on the bike, a KZ1000 police. What I can say is the rear has got 14k put on this year, and still has 1k of tread. I’m down to needing a new one, but it has served very well. No slip, no weird wear, outstanding in the rain. Matched with a ME880 front, I have SOLID confidence in all weather and conditions. PS-the front looks like it will go 20k+.

ME88 130/90-18

Have used these for 75K on BMW K75. They are tops for wear and slide predictably if required. Handling is also neutral. Just put a new one on and will order one for stock as Metzler has stopped making the 130/90-18. Pairs well with the 100/90-18 ME880 front.

Metzeler Marathon

I bought this tire for my 1981 Goldwing after reading a good review in Gold Wing Riders Magazine. I am very happy with the purchase only gave tread life a 4 because I haven't had the tire long enough to evaluate tread life should actually be NA for tread life for my review not an option.

Metzler Tires stick like glue. You exchange long tread life for the ability to stick to the road. A fair trade. These tires are worth every penny. BMW R80RT

Marathon ?

I bought one of there because tread life was said to be high. However, it has only about 6K on it and it's about wore out (Yamaha road star); the stock tire wore better. I won't buy another, very dissappointing.

Avoid this tire

This was my second Metzeler rear to develop cracks in the tread after less than 3,000 miles of use. Never again! I give it poor ratings in all categories because who cares how it handles if it falls apart after a month of riding?
