Great helmet

Bought one for myself after buying one for my wife. Both had RF1000s and the GT Air for kicks as well. The RF1100 didn't fit right. Nice and light weight. Air flow and noise is okay, alway wear earplugs anyway. Little pricey, but the overall fit and finish are excellent.

Excellent

I got my new helmet a couple of weeks ago and so far I am pleased with it. The helmet looks and feels good. Haven't ridden in very hot weather yet but the ventilation system seems to be what I was looking for. It felt tight the first time I put it on but after a couple of times got used to it. The sun shield is awesome!

Awesome helmet!

I've only ridden about 175 miles with it, but it included all types of riding, cold, damp and foggy to sunny and hot and dark. It is very stable in the wind. Fogging was not a problem, because the defogger vents are very strong. This helmet replaced a 13 year old X11 that I was very happy with and I am not disappointed at all with the GT Air. The drop-down sun shield is a great feature for the street & is a huge safety feature in my opinion.

Worth every penny

I've owned several helmets and wasn't sure that spending this much was worth it, but believe me, if you ride a lot it is. The built-in visor is perfect and the anti-fog screen actually works! The only quibble I have is that it's hard to tell if the vents are open or closed. Some indicator would be nice and a little more airflow would be nice, but it would probably be louder then. Overall, I love it.

Tight to get on, otherwise perfect

The helmet fits great after I get it past my ears. It's very comfortable, quiet, and light. The only issue (which is very minor) is that when I'm putting it on and taking it off, the fit over my ears is very tight. Once on, it fits perfect. I'm sure it will loosen up over time, so I'm not worried about it. This was an upgrade from a 12 year old Shoei RF-1000.

Great helmet

I've owned an RF1100 and an RF800 before this. They were great helmets, but this one is even better. It is the quietest helmet I've ever owned. The top of the shield opening is a little higher than the RF1100 giving you a better view, and the padding and fit are great. The vent system is fine - no better or worse than the previous Shoei's I've worn. The sun shield is the perfect finishing touch. This helmet is worth every penny.

great helmet

Fit and finish are great, it's a really well put together lid. Very comfortable and extremely quiet. Doesn't breathe as well as the name might suggest. The tight sealing shield combined with the lack of direct mouth vent gave me insta-fog without the pinlock installed. I'd rather just use the shield, but on this helmet the pinlock is a must. After a few rides I installed the nose deflector and removed the chin curtain and found that it flows much better. I guess it's good to have options.

Very Happy with my Shoei

After trying on every Shoei and Arai helmet, along with a bunch from other brands (Scorpion, HJC, Nolan, Shark, Z1R), I went with the GT-Air. Wanted a drop down visor to deal with changing light on long rides, something safe, high quality that will last, an aggressive full face look but works with my hog, and my dome is a bit tough to fit (long and narrow, usually right between L and XL). Very happy I did. It's very quiet, feels great as its broken in (initially tight at forehand but well spaced out), and looks good. It is pricey, but you pay for quality/safety. The airflow at the face is a bit tight vs. my old helmet, need the pin lock installed and will keep playing to find best combo of breath guard, chin curtain, etc.. Highly suggest everyone go try things on, what I thought I would get initially wasn't this, what fits for you is what wins.

Good Helmet

I have enjoyed the helmet. I am pleased with the investment. It is a challenge to put on, but it feels great once on and ears adjusted. I did put in the pinlocks. Prior to putting in the pinlock shield, I had some fogging. The shield resolved that. I have learned to work the airflow, but I will still frequently open the shield one notch. It looks great. I would recommend it.

Overall

The helmet is light, a bit too tight near the upper jaw bone and ears making it uncomfortable for long periods. It is new and may need break-in period. Otherwise I like it. The sun shield when going through a curve is a bit scary using the sun shield as it somehow messes with your equilibrium. I now only use the sun shield partly lowered to keep the sun out of my eyes. Air flow isn't too bad but with the ridging inside the helmet gives your hair a great front to back hair perm.
