I did like the instructions said and soaked & dried the vest before I wetted it for use on a trip. It worked well. I think the best way is to soak it the night before and hang it up to dry. It kept me cool thru Atlanta.
Looked at more expensive vests that incorporated frozen packs. The cost of reserve packs was prohibitive. In addition to the cost came the requirement that the reserve packs be kept cold before they were needed. Riding with a Igloo strapped to the bike is a non starter. With the Hyperkwel simply add water and shed a few degrees. Be realistic about performance in relation to relative humidity.
The jacket looks good and fits me well over a sweatshirt or lighter jacket. I have an armored hoodie that works great with it.
Leather is of good quality, but is not as heavy as the 1.4 ml would make you think.
I ordered the small/medium. I am 5'7" with 44" chest and 38" waste and vest is snug around stomach and a little loose around shoulders. If you are planning on wearing vest by itself there seems to be too much material around your neck and shoulders so it kind of floats away from body. it is definitely cut to go over a jacket.
D30 armor is a little questionable on its being "armor". Seems thin. It is very comfortable, but I wish I went with the Striker armor instead.
The main zipper is small and it catches on a seem running across the chest, every time you zip it up.
The cross-draw pockets are nice and deep, but the zippers are too small to easily get your hands in and out of pockets. Unless you have extremely small hands and small piece, I would not recommend for concealed carry. Also made in China
All in all, the jacket looks great, but the features leave much to be desired, and the fit is probably too universal.
