Update, while this tire shows very little wear on a TTR 225 it wears somewhat fast on a YZ 250. Same trails and hill climbs just a lot more spin. Other than that it is an excellent tire for soft dirt and mud.

I ride in muddy tight woods, and do steep hill climbs. Yamaha TTR225, worked extremely well, goat like traction. YZ250, so far it works well, I would like to try other tires to compare, it's hard to evaluate with this much power.

MC4's work great!

I've been using these tires for 4 seasons for cross-country, hare scrambles and enduro. The rear performs similar to Michelin S12, but with noticeably better traction on wet rock(s), and is more versatile because of this. The casing is quite light, similar to Michelin. Much more supple than say a Bridgestone 404. This is a great tire overall, and continues to provide good traction for the life of the tire, even when well worn.

Sand ripper

This tire works excellent in the sand, especially in the river ranch GNCC type on sand with mud piles. Very good life and also is made to use with bid mousses. The casing is soft. I don't recommend to use this tire with tube on rocks on trails. Overall tire traction is perfect!!!!!

Metzeler MC-4

This tire has performed very well in all sorts of sloppy terrain here in the west. It will find traction where my friends riding on Michelin or IRC tires are getting stuck. Works well getting over roots and logs in rutted conditions. The best thing about Metzelers is how well they last. The only weak area I would mention is the fact my 440 2t bike will flex the knobs pretty badly on hardpack. More a deal of the wrong tire on the bike for hard conditions. Being a soft terrain tire though it can't really be faulted for that.

Metzeler MC4 100/100x18

This is a light, soft, flexible tire that works very well on my 2002 KTM 200 EXC. I believe that the smaller size allows the 200 break it loose with less power than the usual 110/100 rear tires. It is almost two pounds lighter than comparable 110/100's.
