For 35 bucks, it's hard to complain much but... I bought this for my scooter. I only use the put-put around the hood, and the full face Arai was a bit much. The loops on the straps are not even, so the straps one side ride on my ear. The helmet is way top heavy and feels like a brick on my head. It serves the purpose, but in hind sight, I probably should've ponied up the extra 45 bucks for the Bell.

Great Deal
I bought this helmet as a starter helmet for the price. The fit is great and it has lots of padding to make it very comfortable. Sure, when I look in the mirror wearing it I look like a giant mushroom, but who cares for the price?! This helmet has served me very well and I'm keeping it as a nice passenger helmet while I look for something a little more appealing in the looks department. I can only hope the next helmet I purchase works just as well.

I realize that I made a mistake buying the skid-lid. The wind noise when riding at speed is terrific (I don't mean that in a good way). If you're just riding around town it might be ok. It's quite bulky.

The helmet is good, I enjoy it. I would have preferred less padding so the helmet was tighter to the head but for the money its a good helmet.

Good half helmet
I purchased this helmet as a summer helmet and couldn't be happier. It fits really well and while any DOT approved helmet is going to give you a mushroom look, this helmet does not look bad. The only thing that I would warn against is the flat black color really shows fingerprints, wet spots, stains, etc. I would go with the gloss, it is easier to keep clean. This is a nice half helmet for the price.

This helmet is perfect for riding around the neighborhood or to the store. I like the fit and it looks ok. It is much cooler in high temps than my full face. The only negative is it slides back on my head at high speeds 50 m.p.h.+. And that is with the strap as tight as I can stand it. I had to rig some velcro on the strap to keep it from flapping also. Over all it was a great deal and I like it for what I use it for.

I really like the Skid Lid brand the only problem I had was that they sent me a gloss black when I ordered a flat black. My wife convinced that it may be a good idea to have two helmets just in case I drop one. The price is so far with these helmets I just bought another flat black helmet so now I have a gloss and a flat finish helmet.

Wish I would have upgraded...
I bought this chrome skid lid due my cruiser having an abundance of chrome. I can say that its not a good helmet because it's not really that bad. Looks pretty good and fit okay for not being broken in yet. My complaint is that I didn't research skid lid enough to notice that for $10 more, I could have gotten the same chrome helmet with a brim and larger more "comfortable" straps. I would suggest you do the same unless you prefer doing your own modifications. Still like it though.

This was my first skid lid. I wanted a half helmet that was DOT, and no mushroom head. Well, two out of three ain't bad. Yes the mushroom factor is there, but worn low on the brow with sunglasses and jacket, it's not a bad looking helmet. Also, it sits on my skull better than any helmet I've had before, but the strap is very uncomfortable. I cut some leather into a strap sling, and it's much more comfortable.
Overall for the price this is a great helmet!

I bought the Skid Lid for back and forth to work. It is HOT in Fl. during most of the year and figured that it would be cooler than my full face helmet. Not only is it cooler but the fit was great. Even at 70+ mph it sits nicely on your head without being pulled back and choking you. I highly recommend this lid and have since bought the chrome model which looks great as an added chrome accent

Basic half helmet with decent fit. Good long strap, but not padded. Bit uncomfortable strap at seams, but easy fix. Good helmet for the money. Not an extreme mushroom head helmet, but somewhat, as it is dot.

Wow Wind Noise!
I had tried one of these on in a store a while back and was impressed with the fit, etc. Now that I ride with it, I'm not as impressed. I think that the difference in strap length may be intentional due to making it a DOT approved helmet- the chin strap has to be placed specifically, not sure. That aside, unless you plan on wearing ear plugs, this is not the helmet for you. The straps create an amazing amount of noise from the turbulence. Great helmet for around town, just don't go over 35 mph without earplugs.

Tough looking helmet at a very reasonable price. Fit is good though I order a larger size than I would normally wear. The only complaint is that the "V" part of the chin strap (over the ear) is longer on the right side than on the left.

Departure from the Norm
I actually bought this helmet as an alternative to a regular bicycle helmet for the following reasons: 1) I've never cared for the goofy looking "banana-shaped" bicycle helmets that make the rider look like he or she just stepped off the movie set of "Alien"; 2) I wanted a simple, plain-shaped helmet so I could strap on headlight gear with a dimmer switch in the back. This helmet works just perfect for that; 3) since I'm bald I wanted a helmet without air vents to keep my head warm on cool days.
All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase and this particular Skid Lid product!
