Works Great!!!!!

Grind old rivet head off first and then press out old link then line up new master link with new chain then take time to line up and rivet new chain. Do not over crank or king kong pressure to break tool all chain tools work like this so other words tool works great operator is usually at fault.

Chain Riveting Tool Kit

This tool is alright, not great not bad but alright. It works really well for breaking/cutting a chain, however the strength of the tool isn't reflected in the price. Cracked and fell apart in 3 pieces on me as I was riveting my chain. The main c clamp looking piece will bend as the chain is being broke. Threading of the tool in the main piece is not the smoothest. Bottom line, I would not recommend this tool.

Nice tool

The tool came with a plastic box to store it, it's a nice addition if you don't want to loose all the small parts. The tool itself looks a little brittle and I cared as much as I could when applying any force, but it did the job well after all. Just to be on the safe side, I pre-grind the rivets before extracting them. The tool cost almost the same as getting my bike to the garage, so if it holds for the next chain change, it will pay itself. I ride a Kawasaki Ninja 250R 2012.

Buy a grinder instead

Pin broke on first use. It's impossible to keep perfectly lined up with the pin. Better off buying a grinder to just cut the chain. Worked well to install rivet link, however I can't really give it more than 1 star since it broke on first use.

Works but be careful!

I am not sure what to say. The pins broke on me... of course. But I am not sure if its the quality of the tool or me using it incorrectly. I assume the latter.

Motion Pro Chain Tool

Instructions recommends grinding rivets with size 630 chains! I was trying to buy this tool to avoid having to buy a grinder. Tool worked only after I hand-filed rivets. Also, the riveting/installation plate does not work with size 630 chains (too small).

Did the Job

I bought and used the MotionPro chain riveting tool to do my first chain change - a 525 chain on a VStrom. I was surprised at the force levels required to break a chain - even after grinding the heads off of the rivets. And equally surprised at the force required to rivet the new chain. The little handle provided to tighten the tool on the rivet is definately not adequate.

Broken

The tool works great but It's too fragile. The pin broke on the first use. I was lucky enough to be finished as it broke.

Good Product

So long as you don't try to force this thing to do the impossible and read the directions, I don't see why anyone would have problems. read the directions.... read the directions

Motion Pro Chain Tool

This was my first time installing a chain, and the tool worked perfectly. I read other reviews saying the extractor pin breaks easy so I just set a block of wood under the chain and cut it off with my saw. Quick and easy. Why bother frustrating myself if I'm just going to throw the old chain away? Also, it lined up fine for me. Probably the best tool for the money.

MotionPro Chain Riveting Tool

I would recommend buying this tool ONLY for Cam Chains. The quality of the metal is extremely poor, and is prone to breaking with larger chains. It was able to break and press my new chain, but the anvil immediately broke upon riveting! The instructions are OK, but the tool itself is too flimsy and requires WAY too much work to get it set-up and aligned properly. Also, it doesn't come pre-greased, so.... I definitely would not buy this again...

Great Tool

Used the tool to install a new 525 chain the other day. It worked very well on all of the functions - breaking, pressing and riveting. It would be very hard to do alone unless you had some way to clamp the frame in a vice. I will be carrying it on our 11,000 mile SA trip in a couple of months. Overall I am very satisfied.

Motion pro chain tool

It is the first and only chain to I have ever bought. It riveted my chain together with ease. I have not tried to break a chain with it yet, but I am sure it will suit your needs.
