Joe Rocket Super Ego Leather Jacket

Able to think outside the box when it comes to solving everyday motorcycle problems, Joe Rocket made the Super Ego Leather Jacket capable of zipping off its leather panels to transform into a mesh jacket in higher heat. And while capable of this feat, the Super Ego doesn’t advertise this fact and instead chooses to retain the classically cool sportbike look. Whatever the temperature and configuration, the Joe Rocket Super Ego stays focused on giving serious motorcycle protection.

Super Ego = Decent

Slightly snug compared to textile versions of Alter Ego jackets. Bulky sleeve cuff snaps interfere with glove gauntlets. Remain unsure of the advantage of the collar "wings" on outer shell, didn't need them for textile versions. Chest vents should also be/have pockets.

Great looking and feeling jacket!

I don't know if there truly is a thing such as a four-season jacket, but this one has to be pretty close. It's going to shine in the spring and summer, but I've been riding with it in 38-50 degree winter weather (30 minute drives) and it's a bit chilly. The fit is a hair tight, but I'm hoping it will help motivate my diet aims. My only wish is that it had a bit more of a tail in the back, as it tends to ride up in full tuck. I would certainly recommend this jacket to anyone.

Impressive

Solid construction and top notch materials. I was going to use the conversion to mesh feature, but this jacket is way too nice for that - EGO will be used solely for spring and fall. I'm 6'1" tall, 180lbs, medium build, and the X-large fits nicely - I like it a little loose around the chest. The Large was too tight across the chest, but if you like a tight fit, then go with the large. The jacket keeps me warm down to 42 degrees F. Any colder, and thick under clothes are needed.

Awesome concept

Cruised no windshield recent day trip cool in the morning the leather kept me well protected and warm. Midafternoon weather was hot; I zipped off the outer shell and was perfectly comfortable and still felt protected. When the sun went down it was cool again and guys were putting jackets back on; I zipped the outer shell back on and was warm again. Performance I give it a 5 for fit I have to give it a 2 considering that Joe Rocket is a big company and can do better on the sizing if they try.

I REALLY LIKE THIS JACKET!!!!

I read all the reviews before purchasing this jacket and took a chance because I like the look and features that it had to offer. I agree that if you have very muscular arms, you may find this jacket to be uncomfortably snug. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it because of the snug fitting arms, but the more I wear it and break it in, the more I like the feel. The leather is starting to become more supple and less constricting. The jacket looks AWESOME with the panels installed and even more AWESOME with the panels removed... though, as someone has already mentioned, there is a bit more material than necessary in the back, but with the CE armor installed on the inner part of the back panels, I can understand why they added some extra leather on the outside panel for more flexibility. The zip off outer panel is not all that hard to figure out, but you definitely need to lay the jacket on a flat surface and get everything aligned and in it's right orientation, to see how it goes back together after removing the outer panels. I like the ability to partially unzip the outer panels to increase airflow as it gets warmer during the day... and I love the ability to completely remove the outer panels when it gets hot... and still have the protection of CE armor on the elbows, shoulders, and back. I'd recommend this jacket to anyone... it's really a great looking jacket with very nice features.

Received jacket very quick, fits very well, looks great with or without full leather and is surprisingly cool in hot weather in full leather form. Just a tad bit shorter than I would like but better than the next size would have been ‘cause the rest fits great. Great looking jacket, fits well, couldn't be happier, would recommend to anyone.

Joe Rocket Super Ego Jacket

Fit is a little on the large side. So I had to reorder and replace the XL for a Lg. Other than the cost, it is a really nice looking jacket with great features. I weighed the cost difference and decided to pay for the look I wanted.

Materials and construction are first rate but, anatomically unfit for human use. Excessively tight in the shoulders while being generous in the back, jacket looked good in the front but had enough material in the back for another jacket. Tight in the sleeves and wrists. This jacket will fit an "athletic" build like a leather bag. I'm Happier with Alpinestars NYC or Fieldsheer Flex.

Excellent Jacket

It is a very comfortable jacket. The removable panels are a great option for our warm climate and still maintain the protection with the leather arms and shoulders which include the body armor. It is a bit difficult to put your arm through the elbow area when putting on the jacket. Once the jacket is on, the fit is excellent and this is the most important. I like wearing the jacket. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

Nice detail and workmanship.

They run tight so order the next larger size and you will not have to return it and wait for the replacement to come. The zip off leather is a little complicated and I wouldn't take it off again. If flows air pretty fair and doesn't get to hot like other leathers I've tried. Great company to do business with.

The fit is tight, and I feel secure under all that padding. I can't wait for summer so i can remove the outer panels. I love the fit in the shoulders arms and chest. However it's a little loose in my mid-section even fully tightened.

Review of Super Ego Leather Jacket

I do like the jacket, it is convertable with ventalation points you can open and close with a zipper. It is heavy with the pads inside. The arms seem to be cut very tight. I ordered the additional liner, but the zippers don't go together. I have had it about one month and it seems to be getting more comfortable. I was disappointed in zipping off the outer leather (panels), I thought I would have a separate leather jacket, but the way it zips off there is no way to wear it.
