Product Information

Michelin Commander II Cruiser Rear Tire

Addressing the simple desire for a longer lasting tire for year-round cruising, Michelin’s main goal with the Commander II was to make the longest lasting tire on the market. Using a Harley Electra Glide as the benchmark, Michelin has nearly doubled the tire mileage over their main competitors** and is capable of at least 25,000 miles. What that means for you is more money in your wallet, and peace of mind knowing your set of tires can go the distance.

** According to commissioned third-party tests.

While mileage is great, it’s safe to say a comfortable ride is a better ride. Without sacrificing durability for comfort, the Commander takes charge on the road delivering a smooth, plush ride on all ranges of asphalt. New aramid tread plies (which is a fancy term for Kevlar) gives the carcass more rigidity for a stable ride with responsive feedback. Moving to the outside of the tire, the flame-like tread design not only looks great, it does a great job of evacuating water for all season control.

Features:

  • Bias and radial ply available
  • Front sizes range from 80 to 140
  • Rear sizes range from 130 to 240
  • Sidewall have same “custom bike” styling as tread pattern
  • Commander II 90-tread ply is 25% more dense than conventional plies, yet just as light
  • New Silica Rain Technology compounds have excellent wet road grip

Great tires

Very sticky tires for a cruiser tire. I have a 2016 scout and was going to go with a sport bike tire but opted to go with these. I don't regret it at all. While they are not as sticky as power pilots they are damn close. I have about 200 miles dry and 300 miles wet, and not just light rain I drove through a red blob thunderstorm on the radar. I didn't feel at all like I didn't have good traction. I hit some corners wet pretty hard and as long as I wasn't tying to break the tire loose I didn't slip once. I have tread life a three because I don't know if it is good or bad yet. Do yourself a favor, buy these tires.

Great buy

Handles great but if the tread life doesn't live up to their claims I will add another review. And motorcycle superstore beats jpcycle on price by 10%. Definitely a good buy.

Michelin commander 2

(2011 ultra classic, always 2 up and loaded with gear) I switched Over to the MC2's about 3 years ago. I use to go thru 2 sets of dunlops per riding season here in Michigan and I remember being conscience of the tire on the road while in turns or on wet pavement. I never fully trusted them. Since going to the commander 2 tires...all that is gone. I completely trust these tires (front and rear) on the road. 85mph, in the rain, 2 up and loaded for a trip I've never once worried about the contact with the road. Thsee tires feel good, and they last me almost 2 seasons. I'll be a customer for life

Michelin Commander II Cruiser Rear Tire

This is third Michelin Commander II. Rode over 18,000 miles on previous tire and it had tread! Replaced because was starting on another 8,000 mile ride and did not want to stop during the ride to change tires. Have ridden in the rain, 106 degree days, flat lands, mountains, and some gravel. Excellent stability, rock solid cornering, wet or dry this tire performs. Expect to get as much and more mileage from this tire.

Spectacular rear tire

I have been running the Michelin Commander 2 on the rear for 4 tires now. I used to shop by price ! I thought the less expensive was just as good! Wrong the Michelin Commander 2 go twice as far and the $70.00 difference is More than paid for.The ride is better. All n all can't beat them.

Great so far

This tire has been good so far. Replaced the dunlops. Didnt have much luck on mileage with them. These seem to handle good. Havent rode in rain yet but will. Hopefully they live up to the long life they claim.

Great Tire

I got about 17,000 miles on the last tire and I could have actually gone more. This is one heavy duty tire. Very happy that I changed to Michelin over the Dunlop. With the Dunlop, it seemed like I was putting a new tire all of the time. Happy, Happy, Happy!

Wish There Were More Sizes!

We replaced the stock Dunlops on a Honda Shadow Sabre. It drastically improved the ride & handling of this bike. We've only had them less than a month, so can't comment on wet traction or tread life yet. The only downside is I can't find the right sizes to order a matching set of Commander IIs for my Vaquero.
