Product Information

Michelin Commander II Cruiser Rear Tire

Addressing the simple desire for a longer lasting tire for year-round cruising, Michelin’s main goal with the Commander II was to make the longest lasting tire on the market. Using a Harley Electra Glide as the benchmark, Michelin has nearly doubled the tire mileage over their main competitors** and is capable of at least 25,000 miles. What that means for you is more money in your wallet, and peace of mind knowing your set of tires can go the distance.

** According to commissioned third-party tests.

While mileage is great, it’s safe to say a comfortable ride is a better ride. Without sacrificing durability for comfort, the Commander takes charge on the road delivering a smooth, plush ride on all ranges of asphalt. New aramid tread plies (which is a fancy term for Kevlar) gives the carcass more rigidity for a stable ride with responsive feedback. Moving to the outside of the tire, the flame-like tread design not only looks great, it does a great job of evacuating water for all season control.

Features:

  • Bias and radial ply available
  • Front sizes range from 80 to 140
  • Rear sizes range from 130 to 240
  • Sidewall have same “custom bike” styling as tread pattern
  • Commander II 90-tread ply is 25% more dense than conventional plies, yet just as light
  • New Silica Rain Technology compounds have excellent wet road grip

Great Tires for the Harley

The original tire on my Harley (Michelin Scorcher) only lasted 6000 miles. These Commander II tires go 12 - 13000 miles before they need replacing. They also hold corners better. I love 'em!

Excellent tire

These are a great tire but I don't know how anyone could give them a five star for wet traction they tend to slip quit easily on wet roads But knowing this makes it all ok, just be careful.

Great tires

Great tires! I have used these tires for the last 4 years on my Ultra H-D. However, delivery on my last tire order took twice as long to receive...no longer in Medford, OR, now located in Louisville, KT.

Great Performance- Great Fun

I have a 2007 Road Star that I bought in Jan 2012 with 2600 mi. My last two sets of tires have been Commander II tires. First set I rode 14,000 on in 2014. Got 2nd set last year I road about 12,000 and was up in Sturgis 5 days before the rally. I rode 250mi on Wednesday riding 125 miles on dirt. What a day and what a tire. Rode with some buddies on Thursday. On Friday I rode by myself again 200 miles and another 125 miles on dirt but a different road up to Lookout Mountain up Spearfish Canyon. Just turned 50,000 on your Commander II tires. I love riding dirt. Great job MICHELIN.

A great tire

Especially for the money. It looks good and rides even better. Now, if I can get more than a single season out of a rear tire, it will be an Amazingly Awesome tire!

2nd set of Commander II

I bought this tire for my sporty due to the reviews I've seen. We did 6000+ miles last year on our trip and rode the rest of the season with them. I have close to 7500 miles on this set and still have enough meat to use it as a back up tire. I'm leaving for another trip soon, so it's time to buy another one. They did not disappoint.

Michelin Commander II

I purchased a set for my Wide Glide and a set for the wife's Sportster. Awesome tires! Skinny front tires will usually grab a road snake. These tires just breeze over them without any shake. Not much mileage put on them yet, but so far they are performing amazingly!!! The price can't be beat.

Michelin commander II

I have gone through 9 Dunflop K555 rear tires on my 2006 Honda VTX 1300(180/70/15) before switching to this tire. Wish I had done it sooner. What a difference it makes. Better all the way around, including MILEAGE. Dunlops averaged 5 to 5.5k each no matter how I rode it. Already have 6k on this one and using my tire gauge, I would expect to get another 2k or more easily before hitting the wear bars.

Great Tires

I have owned two sets so far and starting on the third, the first front tire got 17,500 mi's the 2nd got 17,750 mi's and could have got another 5,000 had I have dared, rear tires averaged 10,500mi's on a 1300 Tourer. They are the only tire I feel safe on at 70+ mph. great ride also.

BEST TIRES HANDS DOWN.....

I've got 17,000 out of my stock pair. I tried the Commanders 2 and haven't gone back. I ride in the mountains and travel a lot. The bike has 100 HP and 115 TQ that will lift the front wheel off the ground in second gear. I run it to 130 mph now and then for fun. I have 90,000 miles on here and have been through 3 sets and these tires have CONSISTENTLY given me 24,000 out of the rear. The front maybe 2000 more but I always change them as a set. I don't get on it all the time, just enough to make the pipes ring strong and leave the car behind me. LOL. Your riding style maybe different but you can't go wrong with giving these a try. As for wet traction, the only time they've wiggled on me is ridding The Tail of the Dragon in the rain but that's a little extreme.
