Product Information

Michelin Commander II Cruiser Rear Tire

Addressing the simple desire for a longer lasting tire for year-round cruising, Michelin’s main goal with the Commander II was to make the longest lasting tire on the market. Using a Harley Electra Glide as the benchmark, Michelin has nearly doubled the tire mileage over their main competitors** and is capable of at least 25,000 miles. What that means for you is more money in your wallet, and peace of mind knowing your set of tires can go the distance.

** According to commissioned third-party tests.

While mileage is great, it’s safe to say a comfortable ride is a better ride. Without sacrificing durability for comfort, the Commander takes charge on the road delivering a smooth, plush ride on all ranges of asphalt. New aramid tread plies (which is a fancy term for Kevlar) gives the carcass more rigidity for a stable ride with responsive feedback. Moving to the outside of the tire, the flame-like tread design not only looks great, it does a great job of evacuating water for all season control.

Features:

  • Bias and radial ply available
  • Front sizes range from 80 to 140
  • Rear sizes range from 130 to 240
  • Sidewall have same “custom bike” styling as tread pattern
  • Commander II 90-tread ply is 25% more dense than conventional plies, yet just as light
  • New Silica Rain Technology compounds have excellent wet road grip

Great tires. On my second set, after ditching the stock Metzlers. Won't go back.

I purchased a set for my Wide Glide and a set for the wife's Sportster. Awesome tires! Skinny front tires will usually grab a road snake. These tires just breeze over them without any shake. Not much mileage put on them yet, but so far they are performing amazingly!!! The price can't be beat.

I have gone through 9 Dunflop K555 rear tires on my 2006 Honda VTX 1300(180/70/15) before switching to this tire. Wish I had done it sooner. What a difference it makes. Better all the way around, including MILEAGE. Dunlops averaged 5 to 5.5k each no matter how I rode it. Already have 6k on this one and using my tire gauge, I would expect to get another 2k or more easily before hitting the wear bars.

Great Tires

I have owned two sets so far and starting on the third, the first front tire got 17,500 mi's the 2nd got 17,750 mi's and could have got another 5,000 had I have dared, rear tires averaged 10,500mi's on a 1300 Tourer. They are the only tire I feel safe on at 70+ mph. great ride also.

BEST TIRES HANDS DOWN.....

I've got 17,000 out of my stock pair. I tried the Commanders 2 and haven't gone back. I ride in the mountains and travel a lot. The bike has 100 HP and 115 TQ that will lift the front wheel off the ground in second gear. I run it to 130 mph now and then for fun. I have 90,000 miles on here and have been through 3 sets and these tires have CONSISTENTLY given me 24,000 out of the rear. The front maybe 2000 more but I always change them as a set. I don't get on it all the time, just enough to make the pipes ring strong and leave the car behind me. LOL. Your riding style maybe different but you can't go wrong with giving these a try. As for wet traction, the only time they've wiggled on me is ridding The Tail of the Dragon in the rain but that's a little extreme.

Ok

These tires were great when new up until 6000 miles.started to slip in corners after that. High speed stops ,heavy squalling under braking. 53 years riding exp. exceptional corning for harley hertage when new. Need more tread in center of tire.may go to a Meltzer again. Don't feel safe in corners at 7500 miles...

COMMANDER II GET AVERAGE AT BEST MILEAGE ON REARS

note the mileage on these Michelin Commander II is no better than a Dunlop you will not get more than 7000 to 5000 outta these on the rear. I noticed at about 4000 miles a more dangerous slip in rear braking and red lights. these tires were nice in the rain till about 4000 then issues only with rear tire. now on dry land these tires are very nice made my old 89 feel like a new street glide in handling. I will Buy these again. BUT, this 25,000 mile thing I was hearing about on these is straight hog wash. but, note these are the tires I run on my bagger and ordering new commander II's today.

Michelin Commander II - Yes sir!

When I bought my 2013 Anniversary Edition Road King it came with the old stand by Dunlops on it... I changed them at 18K miles for Michelin Commander II front and rear. I can't say enough good about these tires. I've just changed the front on my Road King again and it's now got 56K on it I'll let y'all do the math... I think I probably still have a couple of months on the rear tire as well. as it seems to be holding up very well as far as wear. I'll repost when I have to change it but I expect probably another 10 - 12K out of it at this point.

Happy, so far....

Ride got just a bit rougher when I added the rear Commander II after having put on a front Commander II about 4 weeks earlier, but nothing to get upset over. Previous front and rear tires were Metzeller 888s. Braking performance is excellent. Price is right, too. Bike is a 2003 Harley Super Glide. Tires are still new, that's why I gave average rating for tread life.

Great Tire

I bought this tire 2 months ago and love it. It feels like a brand new bike. I've been through heavy rain, cold and hot weather and it has rode perfect. I can now rub pegs in the rain with no worries. This is one of the few products in my life I have seen deliver on what they say.I would buy nothing else but the Michelin tires from now on.

MICHELIN COMMANDER II TIRES On Harley Davidson Limited

I ride a 2012 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Limited FLHTK. I felt the agility of the tries right away. I have not put many miles on the tires yet. But the immediate stability and the agility of the tires were felt. Even when cornering They felt nimble and quick. Also I notice significantly less road noise. I have replaced the original Dunlaps with these tire based on a friend's recommendation. I will be back with a full report. Because I do get to ride in wet weather. I am at 27000 miles and this will be my third set of tires. My wet and tread life rating is only my prediction. I tested the other three.

4th Set of Michelin Commanders

Great performing tires. Only ones I use on my 08 Harley Softail. But if you are an aggressive rider you may have 2 issues. Feathering on the edges from hard cornering leads to early vibration issues at about the tires' half-life. Tread life IS NOT great for me, although many reviewers here have had better luck. These tires in the 200mm width (06+ Softails) do not last beyond 7,000 miles for me - never in 3 sets. Maybe my experience is unique, but if you like to ride on the agressive side, just beware.

This is the 3rd bike I've put these tires on. I can't wait to wear out the OEM crummy dunlops so I can put on these. They totally change the way my big Harley's ride, corner, brake, and are superb in the rain. I usually get about 18K from the rear. I do a lot of 2 up riding, and usually have my Ultra Limited packed out pretty heavy. Stop guessing, and just buy these!
