Decent helmet

I've been wearing this helmet for a couple of years now. My only complaints are this: Airflow could be improved. sizing is on the small side, if you wear a medium in a Shoei for example, get a large HJC. My major complaint is the dark sun visor, Put in a sliding Mechanism, that way the rider can choose the position they want. The "Three" positions allowed are not very good, at least for me. Most of the time I want just a little of the visor down, this helmet doesn't allow that. I really don't care for the spring loaded release. Give me manual Control! Other than that, It's a good helmet but can be a bit noisy. I would recommend it to others, just know what you are getting.

HJC SY-MAX III MODULAR HELMET

The appearance is fine but the fit was a bit snug. The weight of the overall helmet was heavy on my neck and uncomfortable on long rides which is what I would use it for. It is a bit overpriced for the difficulties of buying site unseen and untested in fit.

Good Value

I purchased the Sy-Max III to replace my too old IS-Max. It seemed a little snug out of the box but with only an hours wear time on it I left on a 1,500 mile trip. By the end of day one it felt fine and I've been happy with it. Less wind noise than the IS-Max and really not bad. You do have to snap the chin bar down to close it and be sure to fully press the release BEFORE lifting or you'll swear it's stuck.

Helmet is a 2XL- still a little tight but bearable. Helmet strap should be quick release, as it is it can be a royal pain to fasten. Think I'll stick with my NEXX.

Not good

I purchased this helmet and went for a weekend ride. The good...loved the sunvisor. The bad...shield would not close evenly leaving an air gap along the bottom right side. Helmet is very noisy. I have had other HJC's and thats why I bought this one. Not a good fit.

Lots of wind noise

The helmet is good except that there is a lot of wind noise at high speeds I have to turn my radio up to almost max to hear through my head phones.

Not for people with long oval heads.

If you have a long oval head this helmet may not be for you because of the chin bar pressing against your chin. It gets uncomfortable after a while and you will find yourself lifting the front which defeats the purpose, but it does make it cooler during the Summer which is about 8 months long in this part of Texas.

Love it So Far!!!!

Great fit, love the quality, and hard to beat for the price. Had the original SyMax and loved it. This one is quieter. Love the sun shield.

After 1 Year...

Great fit, easy to get on and off. The flip up worked easily but needed a little effort to get it to lock shut. The tinted visor, good latching mechanism easy to operate, quick release, thumb button broke off after 1 year. Straps - padding on the strap made them very comfortable. Ventilation – very good. Pads - come unsnapped when removing. No chin bar wind screen. Not quiet, have to wear ear plugs. Never used the Chatter Box option so can't comment on that.

Just not all that good

This is my second SY-Max helmet. Bought the SY-Max III in XL. Couldn't believe it, but needed an XXL. SY-Max helmets never match the measurement guide. At this price, there should be better fit-accuracy. Air flow? What air flow? And in the cold they fog up like crazy. Why do I buy SY-Max? Because of the flip-up feature and visor/sunshade. I like the way HJC makes that feature-set, but I wish the fit was better, and had better over-the-head airflow.

Good Features, But.......

Bought this helmet for the features and its good looks. Sun visor is great, but unfortunately the overall helmet build quality is not good. The first item to fail was the chin retainer strap snap, right away. Went to remove the liner for cleaning and half of the snaps broke. Now the flip up retainer has broke all of the sudden and now the flip up will not stay up. Won't be buying another one.

Good all around Helmet

Fit is great, the strap does seem a little too close to the neck but only noticeable if tightened hard. The design allows plenty of room around the ears which is good because you will want ear plugs. My biggest complaint would be the wind noise is real loud. I cant compare to other modular helmets but compared to hjc standard full face helmets it is much worse. Air flow is great along with the other features of this helmet. I would buy this again.

Helmet head perfect!

Expensive -- yes. Great fit -- yes. Ventilation -- off the chart. Sun shade -- exceptional. I added an after market quick connect and solved everyone elses strap complaints. One of the better brain buckets out there.
