Firstgear Kilimanjaro jacket

I've always worn leather & this is my first experience with a textile jacket. Worn for several rides so far this winter & is very warm, good fit & easy to zip.

Killer Kili Jacket

After looking at several mfg's, I decided on the Kilimanjaro, and very happy I did. My only complaint is that the liner is NOT stand alone like Firstgear's website says. Fit and function is great for the price. I've used and been comfortable in temps from the low 40's to the high 80's so far.

Actually 2 jackets

With the liner, fit is perfect. Without liner, jacket is a little large. Only worn in hot weather so far, but found venting to be every effective. Really like how fit can be adjusted in so many ways. GREAT JACKET.

One happy banana

The bright yellow color of my Kilimanjaro is getting more compliments that I could have imagined. A plain black leather jacket might be badass, but never got me as much attention. If there is a problem with this Jacket, its as much a problem with me. I'm not yet accustomed to having so many freakin' pockets!

Excellent jacket. I'm 6'2" 180 lbs. And I got the tall large. Seems a little on the trenchcoat side, and I wish the snap closures on the front were magnetic like other jackets (like the a* jackets). Other than that. Very nice jacket and looks awesome

Two year review

After two years of almost daily use this jacket has held up well. Still keeps me completely dry in down pours. Fits well and is very warm with liner. I ride down to the mid 20's in winter and have been fine in this gear. I will usually wear till the mid 80's and then switch to mesh, but have worn this jacket in 100+ weather and tolerated it. The zippers are not the best quality and tend to stick. The Velcro is the major problem with this jacket, I started replacing strips after 4 months.

Last Frontier Rider

My spouse bought this jacket for me in 2007 when I started riding in Alaska and it has performed beyond my expectations. Since then I have purchased a second Kilimanjaro jacket and have been equally pleased. My first jacket did seem a little tight through the forearms. This jacket vents well when the temps are high, and in the early and late riding season and the temps drop the jacket liner makes the rides a lot more enjoyable. Thanks First Gear for a great product!

Warm, dry, versatile

I'm 5'10" 175 lbs. I normally wear Medium or 42 in jackets. With the liner in, the medium fits pretty good. Without the liner, I have to cinch the side straps. Plenty of ventilation when it gets warm. The rear exhaust is a major plus when the front vents are open. The rear vents help take care of the "balloon effect". I've been in 30 degree weather with just the liner and a t shirt. Kept me warm. Also kept me dry after a 45 minute ride in steady rain.

Not very waterproof

I bought the jacket because I was in need of some real rain gear. The other day I put it to the test and I can say that it pretty-much failed. After 40 minutes, my t-shirt was soaked in the shoulders and down the front from the main zipper. Perhaps with the waterproof liner it would have been better, but as it was 80 degrees, it was just too warm for that.

Help With Return

Jacket had faulty zipper. Returned for credit, but instead ultimately received it back stating repair was made. In the meantime, I ordered replacement - now I have two! Need authorization for return of this jacket.

kili jacket

disappointed would be my overall rating. i repaced my old kili 4 (2007)with this jacket and feel the updates are going the wrong way. the first thing i noticed that the d-ring on the jacket front is missing-a great place to hook your keys. next, the liner feels less substantial and the collar is not as soft. i also prefer the velcro collar closer rather than the new snap. that being said, the ventalation appears to be better and i love the hi-viz color.

Very poor fit; Not very warm.

I bought this jacket from a competitor last summer. The listing said they ran big so I ordered a Small. I couldn't get it on. I exchanged it for a Medium. This one fit (barely). With the liner in, you can barely get your arms out once it's on. It fit snugly in the chest. Sadly however, the collar is so big that, even when snapped shut, air channels down into the torso and you FREEZE if the weather is cold. The liner by itself isn't very warm either.
