Not a bad idea...
Works as advertised. If you're disappointed by this tool, you don't know how to use it. Low score on durability due to odd implementation on the rod security screw.

Motion Pro- Chain Alienment tool
Chain guard must come off to line up tool w/ chain. Alignment rod is not made of hardened steel, so if rod is slightly bumped; rod has lost it's tru-ness, and is a worthless tool. I tossed rod that came w/tool and installed a hardened long feelers of same diameter bit that can't bend easy, and seems to be right on when comparing to alignment marks on wheel adjusters.

Very useful piece of equipment should be a standard item in any biker’s tool box. Very easy to use & set up. For the price, this simple yet effective tool can save you hundreds of dollars down the line. Very happy with this purchase.

Easy allignment
Great product, easy to use. I noticed the lube in the rollers was off to one side after my 1st adjustment so that told me even though I matched the tick-marks on the swing arm the sprocket wasn't aligned and when I checked with the motion-pro, sure enough it was off. An easy to use tool that belongs in every motorcycle rider's toolbox-well the chain drive bikes anyway!

Motion Pro - Chain Alignment Tool
100% Perfect!!! Knowing that your chain and sprockets are perfectly aligned with this chain alignment tool. The tool body clamps to the rear sprocket while the alignment rod points toward the front sprocket, allowing for a visual sight line down the length of the chain. Never waste money on replacing unevenly worn sprockets and tires again.
