Product Information

Bell Vortex Flying Tiger Helmet

Even though it may be the little brother to the Star, the Bell Vortex Flying Tiger is the farthest thing from being a push over in the family line. With some of the exact same features as the Star, such as Velocity Flow Ventilation™ with FlowAdjust™ and the ClickRelease face shield, the Vortex is built with the options and comfort you’ve come to expect from a Bell. A race bred designed lightweight shell gives a sleek, slippery shape that allows for unmatched stability at speed and on the inside, contoured cheek pads and a plush removable comfort liner finish it off to give you a complete package at a killer price.

Features:
  • Velocity Flow Ventilation™ system with FlowAdjust™ for maximum stability and temperature control with minimal noise and buffeting
  • Lightweight composite polycarbonate alloy shell
  • Contour cheek pads (by means of stacked foam, not hand cut)
  • Removable and washable, antibacterial/antimicrobial interior comfort liner
  • Padded Wind collar to drastically reduce wind/road noise
  • Integrated speaker pockets for audio speakers
  • ClickRelease™ for the fastest, easiest, tool-free shield swaps ever
  • NutraFog II™ superior anti-fog, anti-scratch and UV protected shield

I purchased this 2nd hand from a friend.

I purchased this helmet almost brand new from a friend. I find it to be very well made, and the sound is tolerable. The air flow is pretty good for this price helmet. My other helmet is a Shoei and it is really old, so this helmet seems futuristic in comparison.

Too much wind noise.

Helmet looks great. Seems well made, but the wind noise this thing produces is horrible. Some have suggested blocking vents, but I live in the desert so thats not an option. Even with all the vents closed it is just painfully loud in this helmet. I also have had problems with the shield not wanting to stay open when riding around town. At around 40mph if the visor is open sometimes it will suddenly slam shut. I don't hate it, but this is probably the last Bell I will buy. Also the replacement shields are kind of expensive.

Loud like a turbo prop

The helmet is a really good one, with the transitions lens it is awesome. The thing is loud though. I have incorporated some foam into the front vents to see if that helps. The trade off to noise is air flow, the thing has better air flow than any helmet I've ever owned but that does make for more wind noise. She is a looker and I get many complements, fits well and strap is easy to deal with. High quality for the price.

The fit was perfect, price is affordable, airflow is very efficient, and the appearance rocks beyond belief. It's definitely a head turner.

Great Investment

Great investment in both safety and comfort. Helmet is quiet and it's streamline design eliminates fatigue on extended rides. Would definitely recommend.

Helmet Rocks

Great helmet. Lets a little air in at the top of the visor. Great fit as long as you get one or two sizes bigger than you are used to. Got a large.... Last helmet I had was a Bilt small.

I find the wind noise is tolerable. Beats the wind noise of riding without a helmet. Not wise in my book!

Vortex Flying Tigers Bell Helmet

This helmet fits like it was custom made and COMFORTABLE. Incredible ventilation and the coolest looking helmet I have ever seen. I do not find the helmet to be noisy at all. I ordered a dark smoke face shield for daytime riding. Eliminates the need to ride with sunglasses which can be tricky with a full face helmet. The face shields pops on and off easily. I absolutely wanted to own a Bell helmet. The STAR is out of my range so the Vortex is perfect for me.

Looks Great, But...

I read the comments on how loud it was and right out of the box I placed some foam over the holes inside the helmet to solve that issue. The face shield does not close all the way to the lip of the helmet leaving about 1/8 inch gap between the shield and the carved out area of the helmet. Second there is little padding inside this thing. Sure around the ears and cheeks is fine but above your ears is pretty much some very thin pad in the liner and that's it.

Beautiful design

Nice fit, great design but very noisy with wind. I had to wear earplugs with this helmet. Cool looks and good price for the quality.

Loudest helmet ever made, but fixable

Loudest helmet ever created. Fill the side vents with caulk and it becomes the quietest helmet ever created. Stupid design by Bell but easily fixed!

Great fit

This is a great helmet! The pockets for the speaker’s works perfect. I no longer have to fight with getting the Velcro to get the speakers just right for good sound.

Cool Graphics!

Coolest looking helmet and best features for the price. Fit is very snug though, with a lot of padding. Consider the next larger size.
