1st Gear Thermal Rain Gear Jumpsuit

Thermal value was spot on - very comfortable! 1st problem I ran into was there was no easy way to relieve myself unless I disrobed (not desirable in public bathrooms - nasty floors) 2nd problem (I ride a Harley StreetGlide) the inside calf to cuff of my right leg burned against the exhaust. Will need to have a leather patch sewn on. 3rd problem rain got in between the neck and top of the zipper - there's a very small triangle that remains open to driving rain! Loved the jumpsuit! did what I wanted it to do, and the weaknesses can be overcome. 1st size was too tight for me, but customer service sent the next size without question - refunded the 1st one as soon as they inspected it. Very happy.

post trip impression of First Gear's 1-piece thermal rain suit

1st of all, the jumpsuit is very comfortable! The extra arm and leg lengths were a concern until I climbed aboard my Harley and quickly realized why the extra length favored the bent arm, bent leg positions. The suit is extremely well made, but size was not as generous as other indicated. The collar isn't quite large enough to adequately velcro closed, thereby allowing rain into the small opening above the zipper and below the collar overlap. I also would have liked a leather scuff, heat protective addition on my right leg, from the cuff and up 8" to prevent burning my leg material on the hot exhaust. Going to the bathroom was quite a challenge, requiring at least 1/2 disrobing and almost unavoidable suit contamination on bathroom floors - adding a front zipper that pulled up from the crotch would have been appreciated. I am so grateful for the help I got from the Motorcycle Superstore rep., in assisting me in my pre-purchase research and especially grateful for their no-questions asked size exchange when I initially got a size too small for me! Thank-you Motorcycle Super Store!

Perfect suit for winter...

This is a great winter suit for 60 degrees or below...I bought this to replace the Motocentric Barrier One Piece Suit I had to return due to it leaking in the crotch where the flexible material is sewn in (don't get the Motocentric suit!)...anyhoo other than the useless elastic around the ankles you have to remove this suit is really nice...it could be more fitted (it has a mile of Velcro!) and it's pretty limited on features but seems durable and it is comfortable and warm...

One Piece First Gear Thermal Suit

Great option for cool Weather commuters and predictably cool weather day rides. Took me some practice getting on and off. Nice to get somewhere, remove suit and walk in wearing just plain street clothes. Could have used another layer on top (just had a long sleeve shirt), in 48f weather. Lowers were warm. When temps got to 70f, unzipping front and leg zippers helped to avoid perspiring. Would not be a good multiday suit where upper temps could rise above 75f for any length of time. Looks very water tight, but have not had in any heavy rain. Would love more vents and pockets, perhaps a removable liner but then this suit would be $600. For the money invested, ??

Nice suit

I bought this for riding my lawn tractor when the 42" snow blower is on it. Most snow removing temps are mid 20's down to zero with wind. Only used it once so far. Just put on long john bottoms and a flannel shirt. Temps were mid to high teens with wind. Was out for two hours in the stuff and stayed nice and toasty.Works nice. I'm 5'11, 165lbs, 31" inseam. I bought a large and it fits pretty good. Longish in the legs but they do cover the top half of my boots without walking on them. Sleeves come down to mid hand which is nice. I like the elastic bans inside the cuffs and sleeves at the wrists, leaves zero air in. It fits big in the back but the belts help pull that in for a better fit. I could still get pants on and a jacket underneath as long as it's not bulky. The suit is so nice I might go back to cold weather riding. I have no doubt it will keep me warm at speed. The price is good for what you're getting. The suit looks like good quality and should last many years. Guess we'll find out.

GReat suit

Ive been riding 55 miles to work and 55 back in 30 degree weather with sub zero gloves. Its like I was sitting in my living room comfort. I take off my shoes to get in and out but its really a great suit to stay comfy in. Well worth the investment, and that's what it is, an investment to your health, comfort and safety towards your riding experience. Instead of the temperature clouding your mind, you can concentrate on your ride.

Warm

I have had my thermo suit for 2 years and it is the best for cold weather. I ride my bike down to 15 or 20 degrees and stay warm with just pants and shirt underneath. I use heated glove liners and insulated hunting boots and ride all winter. Well worth the money and my bike don't have to set in cold weather.

Absolutely Fabulous

I have warn this for over 2 years now. Absolutely no issues. I have warn it in 9 degree temps on a motorcycle. Just shirt and jeans underneath. Nice and toasty. Too warm when temps are above 60 degrees. Sturdy material. No tears yet. I recommend this to every motorcycle rider I know. I will buy another if this every wears out (not likely anytime soon).

First Gear suit

I wear this suit in cold weather when flying my open cockpit aircraft. It works very well to keep me warm. Adding the heated vest and gloves and I can fly in the coldest weather and still be warm.

Good Product

I've only had my suit for a short time but I have worn it in light rain, and 40 degree weather. It is comfortable, warm and slips on and off easy which were my main needs.

This best piece of gear you will ever own!

This is by far the best piece of gear that I own. I wear this with jeans, long sleeve shirt and a garbing heated liner and ride the entire year. I log over 25K a year and it is all possible because of this suit! The waterproofing could use a bit of an improvement, but this suit is completely wind proof. I took the elastic out of the bottom of the legs and it fits even better!

One piece thermo suit.

I got the suit med according to the size chart. I 5'7" about 155lbs. I have at tall trunk and short legs. I wore the suit on two runs in about 40°. It was like not so warm as I hoped. Sorry I'll still had to use all my electric gear under to stay warm. I ride mostly everywhere. I just need a different size. Thank you.

Great Suit!

Man is this thing warm. I went on a 2 hour ride with a lot of highway speeds at 30 degrees or below. I was warm the entire time and I only had my riding jeans and a long sleeve shirt on underneath. I highly recommend. The only negative which is a minor issue is in the ankles. The fit is too tight when covering riding boots. It's difficult to zip together. A velcro strap like the ones on the waste would be highly beneficial to allow the leg to be fully zipped and then the velcro to fully tighten. The rest of the suit is great.
