Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact Sport Touring Rear Tire

One of Metzeler’s strongest tires when it comes to wet performance and mileage, the Roadtec Z8 Interact excels when it comes to long miles over ever changing road conditions. And because sport touring still demands some sportiness, the Roadtec Z8 Interact is comfortable and responsive in the corners.
    • Multi Zone Tension technology, new updated tread profiles and functional tread pattern place the Z8 Roadtec Interact at the top of the sport touring tire class
    • 8% wider final footprint area than its predecessor due to the variation of steel belt tensions and a strategically placed tread pattern which optimizes pressures in the footprint area
    • Innovative tread pattern, a widened and more elliptical footprint and a host of wear-resistant technologies not normally seen in motorcycle tires give the Roadtec Z8 Interact its best-in-segment mileage and optimal wet performance throughout the tires life
    • New patented tread pattern with strategically placed longitudinal central grooves provide ideal drainage for more than 3/4 of all lean angles in the wet. The remaining tread grooves work to add tread flexibility, extending the footprint for stability in the dry
    • Giving the best wet performance in the sport touring segment, Metzeler has pioneered Interact technology using M/O specifications to allow for variable tensions in the tire carcass. A higher tension in the center increases rolling resistance and mileage, while softer tension on either side allows for superb cornering grip in both wet and dry conditions
    • Updated design improves wear regularity which gives riders the benefit of a consistent riding performance across the tires entire life
    • (W)-rated for speeds of 168+ mph
    • Tubeless
    • Blackwall

      Great tire

I have used Metzeler Tires on a number of heavy touring motorcycles. Though the market has caught up in many ways...Metzeler leads the way in this segment. The Z8 Roadtec is not a universal tire you will find in every motorcycle store. Motorcycle Superstore always seems to have the size I need both front or rear for my K16000GTL. The tires inspire confidence in any riding situation and ESPECIALLY when I have the bike loaded to Max GVWR.

      fun tire

I have a BMW K1600GTL, this bike is rough on tires because of its weight, but the handling is AWESOME with the Z8s, rolls through the corners like its whispering to me "next corner, let's get after it."

      I am back for more

This will be my second Z8 rear tire and I am still working on the first Z8 front tire after 11,000 + miles of daily riding. I had switched from Dunlops on my SV6650 and took the Z8s for a nice, twisty ride. The feel of stability in curves was pronounced and they hug the road quite nicely. I will continue to enhance my bike with Metzeler.

So far better than the Z6

I always liked the feel of the Z6 on my R1200RT. The Z8 is better. I had stopped putting on the Metzelers because they would go from good to bald with little notice. The new tread pattern should be better. Only have 2K miles so can not rate for tread life. Good in the wet and Dry. Better feedback than the PR3.

      Love these tires

I put a pair of theses tires on my Aprilia Shiver. The original tire's were Dunlop's and they only lasted 3500 miles. I got almost 11,000 on the bike now with Metzeler tires , you do the math. I also had them on my Yamaha 700 and they lasted forever not to mention the grip on the road. Now I'm getting ready to put some on my FZ1. They are expensive but are worth it.

      Decent tire for commuting

Ride a Triumph Sprint St 70 miles per day about 80% of the time. Two lanes with nice curves and some mountain roads for fun. Got 10k out of the back but it is totally gone. I need something that gives me longer than a year of riding. Wet weather was great. Handling was good. I'm older now and the chicken strips are a lot bigger than they were when I was young but I do like the confidence these tires gave.

I bought my 2012 BMY R1200RT and these came standard. They were so closely balanced that no weights were needed. I know my previous 1200 RT got only 5-5.5 K on the rear. I got over 7k on the rear and love the handling. I believe it is because of the tuning of the steel bands in the tires allowing flexing and grip for the curves yet hold up well in the center for the Interstate too. I orderd another set. Good price, quick shipping. I'll be back.

Installed a set of Z8 early last summer, l'm not an aggressive driver so, for my style of driving, very satified. Put 15000km on the rear before changing for a new one(another Z8), still have the front tire on the bike, close to 20000km on it. I experience all kind of road surface, always stable, very pleased. Will install new one in the front as well!!!

      4th type of tire on 2011 R1200RT

40k on the bike now. OEM's wore out at 8k, Metzeler Z6's lasted 12k, wore evenly, were stable in moderately fast corners. I'm not skilled or overly aggressive and ride easy in wet and cold. Mich PR3's wore unevenly off center and barely lasted 10k and not as stable as Z6's. Z8's rear flat topped rather quickly, fronts wore unevenly off center, with rear a little twitch on some corners, barely got 10k. Going back to Z6's for my riding style. Might try Pirelli Angels one of these times.

      A Good Rear Choice

I like this tire a lot and have no problems in the wet with it. I just recently, on the way to work, rode through a huge downpour that filled the road with deep water and the bike didn't waver. Amazing! I'm on a BMW 2004 K120ORS with all the bags mounted, 5 days a week in all weather (except ice/snow of course). My biggest issue that I watch is tread life.

      Z8 rear on VFR800

Installed this rear on my VFR800 before our 4000 km trip in Arizona and Utah in September. Didn't notice a major change over the Z6's and the tire has squared off significantly already which I had hoped would not happen so quick. But I was two-up sport touring fairly loaded down. Hoping to get more mileage than Z6 but time will tell. Overall good tire and great price.

      Back to Michelin

I put a pair of Z8s on my FJR in the spring and did an 800km day in heavy rain. Wet traction was great. What I didn't like was how they lost their cornering feel as they wore. Got 13000 Km out them but they were completly done then. That's only a couple thousand less than the two sets of PR2s. PR2s feel good right to the end.

      Great Tire

They give a soft yet responsive and stable feel to the bike. The tread design itself minimizes cupping, usually something that makes me want to buy tires prematurely. I have over 7k miles on my front tire, and no sign of premature wear. They give me the confidence to take corners with greater glee. I really like the Z8's.

Much better than the Z6 Interacs

I've been using the Z6 Interacs for the last two years and have been extremely satisfied with them. Then I tried the Z8 Interacs and they are a far better tire. Cornering is much better and overall traction appears to be superior to the Z6. Got 7000 miles on my last Z6 Rear and I hope I get that or better with the Z8.
