AFX 39 DS hi-vis

Great helmet, bright color! The only problem is replacement of the face shield. While changing it; broke fastening, so be careful.

Helmet review

I like the helmet, but the fitting chart is a bit off. A 24" measurement by AFX instructions calls for a size Large, but I took advice from other reviews and ordered one size larger and am glad I did. The fit is good. As for airflow, I notice no difference with the face vent open or closed. Bear in mind, review conditions were cold and between 40 and 60 degrees F. No problems with the visor or face shield.

Nitpicker

I wore a Shoei DS before the AFX The AFX is a great value. I like the chin strap, fits with sun glasses, easy to operate vents & shield. The padding is minimal not as soft as Shoei. The visor has a very slight distortion, slight but there. Just took a 1,500 mile DS ride and the helmet worked great. I like it and would buy it again!

First helmet

This is the first helmet I have purchased. I selected based on cost, customer reviews and the hi-vis color. I am very pleased with the fit and features and appreciate the reviews customers have provided as they helped me make my selection.

Great helmet

This is a great helmet, air flow is good, and fitment is good if you follow the chart and not by what you usually wear. It looks great! I would ask they lower the chin a little for a little more protection, it also may help with the giant vacuum that sucks every piece of dirt, insect, and such into the helmet with you, and those are my only complaints and not enough to keep me from buying the helmet twice now. Will buy again if I feel I want another color!

Much Improved from the Previous Model, Still not Great

CONs: I don't like a ratcheting chinstrap because it is harder to secure on the bike. When I tap the helmet, it rings slightly. The exterior version is even bigger and more angular than the last one. PROs: The peripheral vision is good. I use this cheap helmet for riding to class, taking on a trip abroad, and occasional dual sport romps where I don't prefer a locking visor.
