Good performance, terrible tread life

I had a rear PR3 put on in the spring of 2014. Since then I have put approximately 6,000 miles on it. All highway, nothing more than cruising. I ride a 2006 Yamaha Stratoliner, so not doing any racing. I like the "stickiness" of the tire, but getting only 6000 miles and there are cords showing is a lot less than expected. Will go another direction on my next tires.

Fun Tire

When it's hot, or really cold, the tire is slippery. Once it gets to operating temperature, the traction is very good. I did blister the edges a little, but I've gotten more than twice as many miles out of the tire as I did the Pirelli Diablo Russo II's on my Ducati Monster 1100 EVO. I kept the Diablo on the front, so I know which tire will give up traction first, and this combo has worked out very well for me... as a former dirt rider who likes to dirt track. ;)

Love these tires

replaced the Metzeler Z8s on my BMW k1600. This is like night and day. Another rider in my club has the PR3s and says they get great tire life. We'll see.

GOOD TIRE

I HAVE THESE TIRES ON MY SV1000 AND LOVE THEM. 3K MILES ON THEM AND THEY STILL LOOK BRAND NEW. RAIN OR SHINE THEY STICK TO THE ROAD GREAT. PEOPLE SAYING THEY ONLY GET 3-5K MILES OUT OF THE TIRES NEED TO LEARN TO CHECK TIRE PRESSURES.

What Could Be Better?

I don't require much from a m/c tire - just traction, reliability, good mileage, and value - in that order. The Pilot Road series have always delivered! The PR-3 works beautifully! Thank You, Team Michelin!

Great Sport Touring Tire

This is my second Pilot Road 3 for my BMW K-GT. It sticks wet or dry, has good feed back and neutral steering. Not as good of mileage as my PR2, but I've been doing more "Sport" riding on this one than "Touring."

Security knowing it will stick to the Road!

Kawasaki Concours 14ABS, I'm a year round commuter in NJ. I wore the last Pilot 3 out in 13,000 miles. This by far sticks to the road in all rain and heavy down pours. I've been stuck riding back from work in the snow, light to heavy slush. White knuckles all the way 40 miles. The tires held the road. I don't think I'll ever buy another type of tire, besides the new pilot 4. They always come out with the cherry flavor after I purchase the reg stuff!

PR3 is better than PR4 (which are slippery on the edges)

As always, Motorcycle Superstore has a competitive price and delivers in 2-days. This is probably our 20th rear PR3- this one went on the wife's new (to her with only 7,600 miles) 2009 R1200RT and was the first new tire after the OEM Metzler. Wife says, "Its great, just like all the other PR3's." She means on her previous bike the R1150RT which was traded-in with 110,000 miles on the clock.

AMAZING TIRE

PR3's are the way to go when buying a motorcycle tire. I travel 45 min, 60 miles a day to work and the same back everyday. I ride very aggressively and am at 8k on the rear, about 1k left so ordering my second very soon. Daily travel consists of rough road in the country. I have used these tires in the rain and in the twisties at high speeds. You can trust this tire!!! Front tire is just now showing some wear.

Very pleased with the P3 on the rear of my Yamaha FJR1300

I changed the rear to a P3 and then left on a 3,300 mile ride to Lake George, CO searching for the windiest, twistiest mountain roads I could find between Washington and Colorado. The tires were fantastic! Never slipping or wiggling even at high speed turns. I finished my trip and have just moderate wear on both tires. So far I am very pleased.

Will not buy again

These tires took me nearly 500 miles to scuff in, upgraded last year from the pilot powers to these and absolutely hate them. Was hoping they were going to be like the pilot powers with just better tread life unfortunately these tires take a long time to warm up when they are new. They're also kind of sketchy in the rain. I ride a 09 FZ-6.

who wants to change tires every 5 weeks

They rode nice and turned in well, but I'll never waste my money on them again. They lasted exactly 5 weeks. At 3,500 miles the front and rear are both completely bald. I had them on a BMW R1150RT, so I couldn't have pushed them beyond design parameters. If I did, they need a new set of parameters.
