    Shoei Qwest Helmet

Shoei’s name means that as a company they are naturally expected to make a great touring helmet and thankfully, the Qwest can handle this pressure. Shaped by what Shoei claims to be countless hours in their very own wind tunnel, important details like shell design and foam placement have been refined to cancel out noise and reduce drag and lift. The ventilation system is also wind tunnel tested and this has resulted in large upper intakes and rear exhaust vents that maximize the Venturi effect. The proven ORSA shield carries over from other helmet models like the X-Twelve and when combined with Shoei’s typical knack for quality, the Qwest becomes a very, competent touring helmet.

    Great but...

I wish I knew that the liner was not removable before purchasing. I overlooked it or it wasn't highly advertised that it wasn't removable. Cheekpads come off but the rest doesn't. I would spend money on the removable next time.

    Fogs too much

I bought this helmet to replace a Shoei TZR and just finished a 4,000 mile ride with it. The fit is almost the same as the TZR. Box does include both a breath and chin guard but they are cheaply made and smaller compared to the ones from the TZR. The helmet has about the same noise as my TZR. My big complaint with this helmet is that it fogs very easily, and the fogging is hard to clear once it is there. If you ride in the rain in cool conditions, you will most likely have problems.

    Great helmet.

I bought this helmet because of the spring-assisted faceshield seal. Seals completely, eliminating air and water leaks, even in pouring rain. The ventilation is great. This the first helmet I've had where I can actually feel a breeze on the top of my head. It flows so well, I have to close the top vent during the rain or my head gets damp! There are grooves in the lining so that I don't have any problem wearing glasses.

    Shoei Qwest

First mid-premium helmet after wearing a CycleCrap helmet for a few years. Looks amazing. Easy shield exchange. Takes a few seconds. Great snug fit (medium). Good airflow due to the well-placed vents. When all the vents are open it can get loud, however. It does whistle a bit when doing high speed lane checks. Wear your ear plugs and its not really an issue. Very happy with this purchase.

    too loud

Sort of dissappointed with it, maybe the shape of my head. The whistling or say wind noise is prevalent as soon as I am moving and its loud. The helmet fits good though, but with no removable liner, honestly its more than the value of other helmets in its class.

Shoei QWest Helmet - great helmet

Very light weight and very comfortable. GREAT field of vision and ventilation. Easy to change visors in a few seconds and locks nicely at every "click". I've noticed a slight whistle sometimes after opening and closing the visor, but if you just run a finger of your glove along the top edge of the visor when closed, it seals completely and stops the whistle. I think maybe the seal is a bit "sticky" causing it to not completely seal down. I love the helmet and I've very impressed for the price!

You get what you pay for.

I have been riding motorcycles for 40 years, I finally broke down and spent over $150 on a helmet. I should have done it 39 years ago. Everything a helmet does this one does better: fit, feel, operation, sound, protection (sun and safety), weight, visibility, appearance and air flow. Come on Cheapo's spend the extra cash, you will be glad you did.

Great helmet at this price point

I love the lightness, field of view and range of motion this helmet gives me. I've noticed some comments about the whistling and what I found is if you give a gentle push "down" (towards the chin) on the top of the shield, the whistle goes away. It's almost like the seal is so tight the visor doesn't completely close at the bottom. Also, if you use the visor lock (on the side) it seems to make it go away. This helmet is a HUGE step up from the Scorpions and HJCs I've had in the past.

    Quest helment

The fit, quality of construction and appearance are great. For me there was not enough air flow thru the helmet. While riding a 100+ miles in rain I wanted to keep the visor closed, but the visor fogged up quickly, to clear the visor I opened it a notch or two and this let in the rain and it accumulated on the inside of the visor. It was a constant battle to keep the field of vision clear.

Good price from Well known manufacturer

I liked the look and fit of this model but the noise factor was not satisfactory to me. I still believe in that price it is a good helmet. I recommend this for cruising.

    Shoei Qwest Helmet

I had a cheaper Bell helmet this one is much quieter. I have not heard the whistle that some others mentioned, but I do have a windshield on my motorcycle so that may be a factor in it being quieter. It is very tight at first but after some miles it feels much better, the shield lock is nice and holds it pretty firm. In South Texas any full face gets hot and this one does too, but it is a well made helmet overall.

Shoei Qwest - wife loves it!

Bought this helmet to replace my wife's which was damaged when she was knocked over pulling out of a parking garage and made solid contact with the concrete. The old helmet might still be serviceable. Shoei will do a free evaluation and pay for the return shipping, I just haven't found time to send it yet. At any rate, she insisted on a new Qwest. The only complaint she has is that it's tight on her forehead until, but so was the old one until she got it broken in.

    Great fitting helmet

Better fit than my last two Shoei helmets but more noise. Bought the pin lock shield and of course they changed the pin spacing so none of my shield anti-fog accessories fit. Other than the fit I am a bit disappointed. But overall it is a pretty good helmet.

    Can't Complain

Human heads are all different, and mine definitely places me in a minority. The Shoei Qwest fits perfectly! The last helmet that fit me as well was a Ghibli, that hasn't been made for about 30 years. I am extremely pleased with the Qwest, it's by far the best helmet I have worn in every category.
