    Economical

Fit is perfect, I purchased the 3X CL-MAX II. The helmet looks good in solid gloss black. My only complaint is on COLD mornings I have a fogged up face shield when I come to a stop light. There is no forced air flow to keep the shield clear so I have to raise the visor at every stop. Other than that good....

    Getting the Size Right

This is a good basic helmet. Quality construction. Easy on off with the front flip up. No crap installed on the inside in the front. Price is right. Worth the money. When I was shopping the most important thing was the size. With any helmet you will have to buy at least 2X above the size chart. With this helmet it was a 4X above. The size chart put me at a XL. I ordered a 2XL, 3XL and 4XL. It was the 4XL that fit. I want to thank MS for putting up with me. One other thing I will add. I have long hair and the only thing about riding I don't like is it gives you a bad hair day. So, I also bought a NFL training skull cap. I just leave it on. I'm all set with the helmet.

    CL-Max II

I have this helmet in 4X and have worn it for a year. I purchased it from a dealer and was told it was the largest size. I bought with it a inter comm system to communicate with passenger. The 4 X fit really tight with the inter comm in it and became very uncomfortable the longer i rode. I purchased a 5x from Motorcycle SS and gain another 1/4". I hope this helps with comfort. I have tried it on and it did feel better. It is a great helmet, I just wear a half helmet in summer due to sweltering Mississippi heat. If installing inter comm in helmet order 1 size larger than usual.

    Wind shield

I had the same issue as others. The latches are fine but the visor mechanism lost a screw. I noticed an air leak first. Looking at it from the side the pivot was fine but the screw on the lower FWD part of the mechanism had fallen out, so the shield sat crooked on the seal. I easily fixed that with a nylon screw from the hardware store that I modified easily on a bench grinder matching it with the one on the other side. They are very short. That was loose but not missing. A drop of glue would have prevented the loss had I known. Very easy fix. Aside from that I agree, side vision is bad. When I stop to enter a road, I lift the entire face plate first. Good part is it flips up and down easy. I found the latch ok so far. In winding city streets, I leave it up and wear sun glasses, use the dark visor, or nothing. For the money it's fine.

Better than the IS-Max I had

I have had an IS-Max for several years. I think this helmet is a better deal all around. I thought the retractable sunshield on the IS would be great, but in practice I never used it and eventually just popped it off. So the lighter and cheaper CL-Max is better for me at least. And the spare face shields I had for the IS-Max fit it!

    Nice Helmet

This was the only helmet I could find in a 4X. Fits good and functions well. I have only ridden a few times since I got this helmet, but I am happy with it. Look forward to adding a blue tooth and trying that out this summer.

    Hmmmm

An 'ok' helmet for the price. It's important on motorbikes to see what's happening next to you, when a car inevitably merges into you. This helmet has ok direct vision, but very poor peripheral. Also, the visor mounts are low quality and don't last. I wouldn't buy again.

    Good deal

Good price for a modular. Fits perfect. Shield wants to hang up sometimes when closing but with a little extra force closes ok.

Defective latches for modular face shield

I have owned this helmet for two years and the latches that hold the modular face shield broke. The latches are cheap plastic.

    HJC helmet

I am happy with the quality for the cost and I especially like the modular convenience. The fit is a little tight in the cheeks and it has a little more wind noise than my old HJC full-face helmet. The airflow is also ok but nothing to get excited about. I would buy again.

    Could be wider fit

But good helmet for the price and the features included, just bought this for a moped/scooter as I couldn't find an open face helmet in the size I ordered. As I said, could be a bit wider for a big round head like mine, but it is the best fit so far of helmets I've tried. Can't testify to the airflow feature as I'm not going that fast, but with any flip up modular helmet I'm sure you would get a loud noise the faster you go. Had this for a month and I'm a happy customer so far.

    HJC Modular Helmet

For the money this helmet is a very good value. I feel much safer than my old 3/4 helmet. Much less wind noise & the modular flip up chin feature is so convenient. My son also has the same one. Ive only had my helmet for a month so I can't really say how well it holds up, but my son has had his for a couple of years and it's still in great condition.

    Very disappointed

Have had helmet 2 years and the part that flips up with the shield attached broke. I bought 2 of these: the first problem I had was the snaps on liner went bad and they wouldn't replace under warranty. I won't buy another one. I've used it very little and it didn't hold up well at all-very cheap.
