    AXO Freedom GT Waterproof Boots

Looking rather straightforward at first glance, the Freedom GT Waterproof is a sport touring boot that hides the unique BOA closure system to really standout apart from the competition. Incredibly simple to tighten or loosen, AXO has made it about as easy as it gets when it comes to taking the Freedom GT on and off. And because it has integrated protection to go along with the waterproofing, the AXO Freedom GT is capable year round.

      Great for the price

Good tight fit other than the velcro flap tends to stick out- will probably break in and settle down flatter once more miles on. Had to adjust my shifter to fit the boot as it is thicker than my previous riding boot. I like the look and they are both comfortable and warm. Love the closure system. Easiest boot ever to get out of. I got them on sale so they are a great value.

      great first boot

I like them for a first boot. Easy to break in and comfortable to ride in. Plus water proof to boot (yes I ride in the rain a lot).

Unfortunately I had to return these boots. The closing system is too cumbersome. The system designers had a good idea but the execution falls short of the intended result.

Look like great boots, couldn't find the right size

Boots look nice, great features, but just couldn't nail down the size. I tried both the 9 and 10's and nothing felt great. I could wear them around the house, but couldn't see wearing them for hours on the bike, I like the adjustment system, sole was stiff, and I felt like they provide good protection. Maybe next time...

      Awesome

My break-in trip with these boots was to Mesa Verde. Unfamiliar with the location of the ruins, I ended up walking a long distance with considerable elevation change. I was surprised at how comfortable these boots remained. As a result, I wore them exclusively on a Alaska trip. They were comfortable, dry, and protective. I'm a fan! I suggest you get a pair while you can.

      Light, comfortable, and stiff

The steel cable lacing system works well. It takes a bit more time to snug up than buckles, but doesn't need fiddling with the latch positions. Removal is easier with just a pop of the knob. The heel profile allows for comfortable walking, even though it's stiff. It doesn't allow you to easily bend your ankles or point your toes, it reduces the effective reach to the ground on tall bikes and makes for less clearance under the shifter, so it requires shift lever repositioning.

      big stiff boots

Boots feel very stiff and thick, like they have a second layer. I have to make a little extra effort to shift, maybe they will break in but they feel stiffer than any boot I've ever wore. The metal lace system is nice and makes for easy on/off. I would only wear these in colder weather.

I had the Axo previous model and it looks nicer with the metal tab. Nevertheless this is one cool looking boot with a truly innovative fitting system. Value for the boot is fantastic. Very high quality and craftsmanship. These boots fit large I'd say they are a half a size over so be careful.

I really like these boots. The break in was a little difficult to get used to (BOA system), but after a few times setting the cable tension it all worked out. I wear a size 9 and ordered a 10 and they fit well and are comfortable to ride in. The only problem I encountered was the bigger size is a tight fit between my heel- toe shifter on my Gold Wing.

Who wouldn't want these boots ???

I bought 2 pairs of AXO boots. The 9 to 5 boot for tooling around town and the Freedom GT Waterproof boot for touring. These AXO Freedom GT Waterproof boots are big, and barely fit inside my touring pants. They are super comfortable and warm. Love the lacing system! Both are high quality made in Italy boots and with free shipping and after using a Gift Card that I had, SCORE!!

      Better Than I thought

I was not expecting more than a good waterproof boot. It is definitely more heavy duty than that. Great protection around the ankle.

Fits true to size. A bit bulky from what I'm used to, I was missing gears initially because the thickness of the boot prevents any feel of the shift lever. First time I rode them in the rain (70 miles at 55mph, my toes were damp. I've applied a few coats of spray on waterproofing but haven't encountered rain since then. The boot is warm and I like the cable ratcheting system for fitting the boot to your exact comfort. The boot is well made and offers a great deal of protection.

      Great, comfortable boot

This is the first motorcycle boot I have ever worn, so I have no comparisons. When I first received them, I promptly used them on a 1400+ mile trip that included a 3 day Rawhyde Adventure course (off-road.) I was, at first, horrified that it was much harder to shift with these on than with my various other non-motorcycle shoes. With just a little practice, however, shifting with them became second nature and easy. They performed flawlessly for me. The mechanism to adjust them is brilliant; however, I am interested in knowing how durable that mechanism will prove to be. It works very well, though, allowing very fine adjustments to tightness. And here is the kicker. I rode through Moab and visited Arches National Park. While there, I wore these boots to hike three miles into Delicate Arch. They were incredibly comfortable and sure-footed. I don't know if this is normal for motorcycle boots; however, if I could, I would give them six stars for comfort. Mine do fit just a little narrow, but not in a way that makes them uncomfortable. Each day, when I would put them on, I could feel a very slight hot spot in my left ankle. That tension would disappear very quickly and had no effect on performance- including the hike. You can't go wrong with this boot- it's great.

      When "waterproof" means waterproof

Seems like one of the best-kept secrets in motorcycle boots is that when boots are leather with a "waterproof" membrane like Gore-Tex they are actually water-resistant. The difference is crucial to a touring rider in prolonged rain because leather plus membrane will eventually get waterlogged and then takes a long time to dry. I've yet to read an ad or review that says that a true waterproof boot will be man-made material. That's what makes these boots perfect for touring and dual sport riding.

I really want to like these but...

I looked at these boots for months waiting for them to go on closeout and the price to drop. It finally happened, unfortunately I'm returning them. The boot fits okay and feels fine for a heavy boot, but they won't comfortably fit under the shifter on my Ninja Zx-6r. They work okay on my GS500 and Virago, but the Ninja is my main ride and I missed multiple shifts on a test ride around the block and couldn't feel the contact with the shifter enough to trust them for an emergency shifting situation. Very sad. :-(
