A great tire for a great price
I bought the Dunlop D404 to replace the Bridgestone on the rear that came with my Suzuki Intruder LC1500.
The Dunlop by far outperforms the Bridgestone in dry or wet conditions. The price on the Dunlop is also a big plus compared to same size Michelins or Avons. I doubt that I will get more than 6000 miles out of the tire because of its softer compound but for a tire that sticks so well to the road for an honest price I have no problem changing it every 6000 miles.

Dunlop D404
This replaced the original on my Suzuki Marauder, same tire & same size. I wanted a whitewall on the front so used the HD D402 on the forks. Its taking some time to get used to the handling with the new tires but as I'm getting used to the change I like the new handling better, more responsive. The D404 tire I replaced was from new (2002) and I was happy with that one, so I'm sure I'll be happy with this one too. It gives a very comfortable ride with good road adhesion.

I'm sorry to say that due to this Global Warming thing going on, we had several inches of snow last weekend and unprecedented cold. I couldn't ride my bike to try out my new Dunlop tire. But, . . . I have been told by Yamaha Mechanics that is a great choice in tires. Much better than OEM stock. If the weather doesn't cooperate this Fall, I will respond next Spring with my commentary regarding this tire. Please disregard my choice of number 3 ratings for this tire as I had to pick something to complete the survey.

Dunlop 404 Metric
I have these mounted on a '2007 V-Star Silverado" and have been very happy with them. I have 4200 miles on them and don't have any wear on them. Rode in a driving rain and the tires performed great. Traction is great as of recently was in the mountains in SE Oklahoma and they handled excellent in the fast corners that I was pushing.

This tire is the worst tire I have ever ran on a Harley Davidson in 25 years of riding. I am completely un-happy with this tire, I only got 2600 mile out of this tire that is completely unacceptible to me.

Good tire for the money
So far it seems to be pretty comparable to the 401 dunlop I replaced it with on my 06 1200 custom sportster I am quite satisfied with it's performance so far. Only problem I've had is the first 200 miles or so till it wore in a little it felt a little squirrely but after a little wear it grabs and holds the road well. Also service was on time and I was impressed with this transaction keep up the great service guys I will be a return customer.

I put this tire on my heritage softail and love it. The price was cheaper than the harley version of the same tire, just without the Harley name on it. I just got the tire on and only put a couple hundred miles on it, but I feel very comfortable on both wet and dry pavement. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good inexpensive tire for any harley or metric.

I recently mounted these on a '83 BMW R65 and have been very happy with them. I can't comment on wet traction yet, but have been dragging the pegs with no problems. With about 1k on them the tread seems to be holding up well. The old Beemer needs skinny tires by today's standards and there aren't too many choices out there, but these fit well and were priced very competitively. I don't think I'll be going back to Metzler's as long as the 404's are available.

I shopped around and like the tread design. I was pleasantly surprised the performance after the break in milage, they cornered extreamly well on wet or dry pavement and hold a line very well. needless to say I am pleased as far as the life of the tread i will have to have them for a while before I can talk about that. the original equipment lasted 18,000 miles.

Can't beat the price and quality

This is my third rear tire, second D404 Rear Tire. I got 16,500 kms on the last D404, and 16,000 on the original IRC tire that came on my 2007 Suzuki C50. I am an over 50 female rider, with 3 plus years of riding totalling 44,000 kms. The last D404 wore unevenly. I had a strip about 18 inches or more long with no tread left. The guys I ride with thought it was from an emergency stop I made in April around 14,500 kms. Keeping the rear tire pressure 40lbs and front 38 lbs gives the bike a nice ride. Recently rode for two and half hours in rain and the bike handled well.

D404: Good all-around tire
This is my first new tire on my first bike, and so far no problem. I rated wet traction and tread life average because I've never ridden in wet conditions, and I've only had the new tire for a month or so. However, with the new tire I feel completely confident after the break-in period and am cornering as smoothly as usual. I think for the price, especially the MS price, these are great all-around tires. As usual, shopping with and shipping from Motorcycle Superstore was an incredibly easy experience.

I ordered a Set of tires on Tuesday and had them on my bike by Friday of the same week. I knew what I wanted so it was easy to find and choose the tires. I had no problem mounting them (my friend has a mounting machine). This was the original tire that was on my bike. I got about 17,000 miles out of it. I appreciate the cost of the tire. Unfortunately, sometimes you compromise integrity for price. That, in my opinion, is not true with this tire. I like the handling. Can't say that I am able to compare it to anything else since it's all I've ridden on. In my opinion, you can't go wrong for the price. You feel safe riding on it.

Great all-around tire
I was looking for a new set of tires for my 2005 Honda Shadow ACE that would last a bit longer, but still provide a comfortable ride with good traction.
Dunlop 404's are not sticky, but they corner well and the tread is relatively quiet. They provide a smooth ride, and adequate handling for the type of "cruising" that I do. I don't know that I would pick them for a sport bike, but for a cruiser, they are great.

This tire is almost exactly the factory tire, just doesn't say Harley Davidson on it, and is about $100.00 Cheaper than at a Harley Dealer. I just had the tires mounted and balanced a few days ago, Illinois has had a long winter. This has effected my riding time. Being 66 years old, I am not near as tough skinned as I used to be. The weather has taken a change toward summer and I have had a chance to try the new tires in town, rural highways and interstate riding, They seem to be smooth riding, have very good traction and corner very positive. Of course since I have only a few hundred miles on them I can't tell about the tread life. I have purchased several sets of Dunlop tires and have always been satisfied with both the price and the service they give.

Tire is installed on my 1986 Yamaha Venture 1300cc. It gives a good smooth ride which is important as this is my daily driver (42 miles to work). Have ridden in dry and thunderstorm weather at speeds up to 65 mph. Good control though I did not drive near as fast in the downpour of rain. Good stopping and control even in bad rain. I recommend this tire to others desiring a good product. Not sure of the tread life yet but from my experience with this type tire it should be good.

I have a 2003 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Classic and this is my second Dunlop D 404 rear tire. The Dunlop tires wear well and they provide the necessary handling for my leisure county motorcycle rides with my wife as a passenger. The D404 is what Yamaha originally put on my V-Star and these Dunlop’s ride well and are priced right. Sure there are better tires that also cost more. For my driving habits and road trips the D404 is the better choice.

I had taken off the original tires that I got 11000 miles out of. The only negative comment I have is the tread life. I only got 4000 miles out of the rear tire. I did go ahead and put another Dunlop 404 on the rear so that it matched the front. I try not to ride in the rain so I can't rate wet traction.

Have probably put 200 miles on the tire (a 110/90 18" for my 1982 GS450e). I got a matched set with a front. I've been VERY pleased with the confidence these tires give me. I am not your average cruiser. I have done Ride Like a Pro training, and ride in temperatures just above freezing, and in all kinds of weather (except snow). This was the original rear tire on my VLX. The original lasted 9,000 miles. I replaced it with the same as I had no complaints with the original. Plenty of traction and very predictable. For a bias ply tire of this price range, the tire lasts and performs very well. I thought about going with a more expensive tire, but I think the D404 is the best bang for the buck.

Great tire for a great price
I bought this tire for my Suzuki Marauder VZ800. So far it has been perfect for my style of riding which isn't your typical cruising. I like to throw it into corners and drag the pegs occasionally. Try as I might I can't spin this tire up or slide it around like my old Michelin tire and it feels really stable in the corners. It also looks good on the bike. I don't ride in the wet because it's no fun and I don't have to so I can't rate wet traction accurately, or tread life since I’ve only had it a month but I suspect that both would be at least satisfactory

Good bargain for the price!
Replaced the stock Dunlop's that came on the VTX1300C with these D404's. About 700 miles so far, and really like the feel. Not as sticky as some others on the market, but these are much less expensive. As stated above, a good bargain for the price!

You will note that I checked all categories in the above rating with a "3". That is because I have not been on the bike since I put the tire on. I am old, so I don't ride that often--my reflexes have slowed a bit and my eye doesn't work nearly as well as it once did. I will comment, however, that the buying experience with Motorcycle Superstore was very pleasant. The tire was about five dollars cheaper than anywhere else I found, and the free freight added to my savings. This Spring, when we ride to Taos and possibly Canyon De Chelly, I will let you know how the middle of the tread holds up. I don't lean over very much, so the edges don't wear much at all.

Great tire at a great price
I was pleasantly surprised when I found this tire for less here than what I paid at the "Other Place" I have been ordering tires from. If you buy these things from local dealers, they try to break one off in you. I just wish they would last longer. It actually cost five times more to re-tire my bike that it does my truck when you take in to consideration the mileage you get out of them. But this place had the best price and I hope they do in the future too. Motorcycle Superstore has a return customer in me! Really, they do! I have already ordered a luggage rack and installed it! :-)

This is the third 404 I have owned and I use it partly because of availability and partly because of performance. I put the new one on and rode a 1500 mile trip with no problems. Rode in rain in the Arkansas hills and found the tire extremely reliable. I ride two up quite a bit and find that the tire does not wear long under these conditions. This is my only complaint. Good value and good performance. I will probably purchase again.

Tires (both front and back) are a marked improvement on an old bike ('84 VT500 Shadow w/21,100 miles and threadbare Continentals)just purchased. Had the bike up and running for about 600 miles now, back roads and highway commutes, no real wet weather, yet. On a smaller bike, these tires work very well. Stability over cracked and grooved pavement is excellent, cornering has been solid, dry traction impeccable..

I ride a Honda Rebel about 13,000 miles a year. The stock rear tire only lasted 6,000 miles. This is my second D404 rear tire, the 1st one lasting 9,000 miles. The D404 has much better wet traction than the stock Bridgestone, and tracks truer. Both have excellent dry traction, and both track well on smooth pavement, but the Dunlop does better on grooves. It's also not real expensive for a name brand tire, so is a really good value. If it has a drawback, it doesn't do real well on gravel.

This particular tire is a piece of trash!!!!! I mean 6000 miles on it and it blows on me on the interstate? I drive a 02 Suzuki intruder volusha 800. The tires floated on strait lines cause of constantly fighting the center of the tire. You also feel every bump and crevice on the road, It hydro plains in water, and doesn’t stick on cornering. Seriously for the safety you and the rider next to you DO NOT USE THIS TIRE!!!!!!!

This is my second set of D-404's. Obviously they're great or I wouldn't have bought another set. Fronts will out last rears by a couple thousand miles but I generally change both at the same time. 15k miles on the last ones, that was about 300 too many.

I have a 02 V-Star 1100 with the D404. I only have 4000 miles on the bike and the tires have cracked about 1 inch from the rim and completely around the tire. The front is not as bad as the rear. I rode the bike in the rain once and it has been kept in the garage on a mat its whole life. I am now looking for new tire and will stay away from the D404 due to the cracking.

No Complaints about the handling or the noise, but was disappointed that the tire wore out so fast... maybe I'm off base since this is my first road bike-'95 Vulcan 1500- but the tread is vitually gone at 10,000 miles. I do not ride aggressively. Isn't this a pretty short life for a tire? I believe that I've had trail bike tires that have exceeded this, and that's over rocks,roots,hard dirt, etc.
