Mary C Hatton,  ND Preferred tire for trike front wheel This Michelin Pilot Activ tire (reverse mounted) was a replacement for one of the same kind for the front wheel on our Honda Goldwing Motortrike. We got approximately 20,000 miles on the previous one and are very happy with the wear and handling.

Cave L Nedrow,  NY Michelin Pilot Activ Michelin says they have combined superior traction with long tread life... I can attest to that. The OEM rear tire on my Moto Guzzi went 5200 miles, the Pilot Activ more than doubled that and I never felt loss of traction even on cold and wet roads.

Loren Spartanburg,  SC Michelin - Pilot Activ Rear Tire Put these on '97 BMW F650ST, and I am happy with all performance criteria. Just a guess for tread life; only been on bike for 500mi. The Metzler Tourance that was on bike when I got it was pretty well gone, but my sense is that the Michelin is better for my riding (95% street).

Jerry Harlow Springville,  IN Pilot Active After reading reviews, I installed the Pilot Active rear tire on the front of my 2004 Goldwing trike in August 2008. I've ridden to Virginia, Mississippi, & California from Indiana and haven't had any problems at all. The tire has about 14,000 miles on it and it looks like I will get 8000 to 10,000 more. By mounting the tire in reverse rotation, you will hear and feel a slight sensation for the first 1000 miles or so. I would highly recommend this tire to all trike riders.

John Phoenixville,  PA Replacement tire I used this rear M/C tire as a replacement tire for the front of my Yamaha Roadliner. I found out through more experienced riders that a rear tire has more tread which equals longer life. I also mounted it in reverse rotation, since it was being mounted on the front instead of the rear. I have a car tire on the back, with excellent results.

Mike Iglesias Lakewood,  CA Michelin Pilot Activ I can't give it wet traction rating yet since it hasn't rain yet in California since I got the tire. For tread life also I just got the tire and only have about 300 mile on it. But I do like the overall traction on the road and I'm looking forward to taking it in the mountains for some runs and í'll see for sure how it performs then. Thanks again MS for the quick shipment and great prices.

Marlin Kirkendall Lima,  OH Mounted on GL1800 trike on front I mounted this rear tire on the front, reversed rotation and find it handles well. I only have approx 1000 mi at this point so can's really evaluate tread life and I have not ridden it in the rain yet which is why I have only given a rating of 3 in those categories.

Eddie Townsend Mead,  OK Michelin - Pilot Activ Rear Tire The best tire that I have found for the front of a Honda trike. I corner hard and drive faster than I should so I didn’t get as many miles on the last tire but still got almost 20,000 miles on it.

Alan Boston,  MA 1993 750 Nighthawk Last year I wore out the K505 rear the PO had put on the bike. I upgraded the 140/70-17 to a 150 which fits just fine and doesn't slow the steering down any, honestly a 150 fits a 4 inch wide rim better than a 140 anyway and it was like $15 cheaper. This is my first Pilot Activ, and the front is still a K505, but the bike is so much more stable in general, wet and dry ride just the same and it even tracks less side to side on metal bridge surfaces. I've got about 600 miles of wet and today about 80 in the wet, great tire. I can't wait to wear out this K505 I have on the front so I can put a pilot activ on there!

Larry Gilleland Fargo,  ND Michelin Pilot Activ I have put over three hundred miles on the tire with a 2007 Goldwing Trike. So far I really like the tire and cannot complain about the service from Superstore. Delivered in three days. Happy with the tire and service so far. When I have more miles on the tire I will be able to add more comments.

Steve Lowe Arkadelphia,  AR Michlin Pilot Activ motorcycle tire I am running this tire on the front of my 2007 Goldwing CSC Trike. I have over 10,000 miles and it looks like it is still new. The buss that most people experience when new, just raise the tire pressure two pounds from what the bike calls for and the buzz will go away. Drop pressure after 500 miles and noise is gone.

Alan Moore Guyton,  GA Michelin - Pilot Activ Rear Tire I am using this tire on the front of my GL1800 two wheel. I figure if it works good for trikes it should be good for two wheels. It handles great. It does not follow tar snakes or groves in the road. Smooth as it can be and hope to get great mileage out of it. Time will tell.

Gerald Johnston Newport News,  VA Michelin - Pilot Activ Rear Tire I use this tire on the front of my 03 Gold Wing/Lehman trike. The original Dunlop wore to the wear marks in less than 7000 miles and I replaced it with a Michelin Pilot Activ Rear tire. It now has over 28,000 miles with slight cupping and has more miles to go but I'm replacing it for the upcoming riding season. I feel that it is an excellent tire for the front of a trike.

BJ Campione Morgantown,  WV Michelin Pilot Activ Sport Touring Rear I put this tire on my 06 Bonneville Black and so far I love it. It handles great especially in turns, and has improved the handling on my bike. The weather here has been dry so I haven't had much of an opportunity to try it in wet conditions but if it handles like it does in the dry it should do extremely well.

Ron McGowan Pearland,  TX My MPA not a rear tire I use my MPA as the front tire on my Goldwing trike and it seems to being doing very well. At first, however, there was a noticeable "buzz" feel in the grips and sound that it made, but after about 500 miles of use that "buzz" has 90% gone. Most all of your Goldwing trikers, these days, are trying to go to the MPA for its durability and longevity. I would certainly recommend it to any triker considering it for their front tire.

Tom Matlock Columbus,  OH Tire for Trike This is the 2nd one of these that I have purchased and put on a Honda Goldwing Trike. I sold the 1st Trike and had 22,000 miles on the tire and it still had 3/32 of tread and had performed beautifully. This one is being put on an 1800 and I have put over 1200 miles on it so far and it is still the best tire, in my opinion, for a trike. The tread pattern is a bit different and it seams to be quieter and just as stable and nice for cornering even in the rain. Looking forward to many more miles. Both are installed in reverse.

Dick Deiss Hammond,  WI Tire Mounted this tire on my 1800 Goldwing trike. Put this tire on the front and mounted it backwards. I read reviews about doing this and after putting 500 miles on bike it still has the little rubber knobbies. I would advise other trike owners to do this because bike handles much easier and tire wear looks great.

cptdenny Port St. Lucie,  FL Michelin Pilot Activ (Rear tire) After many recommendations on trike forums, I had this “Rear tire” (Size 130/70/18) mounted in reverse direction/rotation on the front of my 2006 Gold Wing Trike. Others have mentioned a tire life of 30K miles with this tire when mounted as above. A quick call to Michelin Customer Relations Cycle Group (1-800-346-4098) confirmed that this “Rear tire” is used best when mounted in reverse direction on a trike. Many use 41 psi as a tire pressure for this tire. However after 4k miles I have found that 32-33 psi works best for me on a solid rear suspension Champion trike. I find less front end vibration and no tire hop on sharp U-turns. My trike fuel economy didn't suffer, I still average 38 mpg and on occasion have seen 41 mpg on a tank of gas. This is a bias ply tire which from what I learned has stiffer side walls than the steel belted tires that are recommended by Honda GL1800 owners. These properties work great on a trike. The average front tire life of a steel belted front tire is only about 6K to 12K miles when mounted on a GL1800 trike. This rear Michelin Pilot Activ has a reported tire life of 25K to 35K miles when mounted on the front of a GL1800 trike.
