I replaced my stock Dunlop front tire a few months ago with a Metzeler and was so impressed with the performance and I couldn't wait until my rear tire was due for replacement. The first thing I noticed was the cornering, I left the shop and when I turned onto the freeway I thought I was going to lay the bike on its side because I was use to applying more pressure going into turns and the Metzeler tires require much less. I replaced the rear tire on 10/30/09 and only have 100 miles on the rear tire but I can already feel the difference. Metzeler has earned a lifelong customer.

Metzeler - ME 880 Marathon Touring Rear Tire 150/80/16
My first reaction to these tires is they have a large amount of tread depth. I just put my first hundred miles on them and felt the bike was really great handling in corners. I also felt my Wide Glide handled easier and more stable with less pressure to turn the bike. The Dunlops I had on my bike had long tread life but just were worn with a big flat spot in the center tread and that made turning harder, but with these tires I feel a noticeable increase in handling and feel much safer as a result. I hope I can get as much tread life as the Dunlops, but the handling has been worth the change. Rain is also in the forecast so hopefully this tire will handle the wet roads as advertised.

Metz vs Dunlap
I replaced the Dunlops on my '05 VRSCA with the Metz's after feeling unstable cornering. When I picked up the bike with my 880's, I could feel the difference, literally, before I left the parking lot. Softer rubber, far better stick. Not so good in a heavy rain- you will spin in the back and fishtail at a fast start. That aside, these tires hold the corners far better than the Dunlops, which came stock. I don't know how many miles I'll get out of them . . . this is my first set. I'm very happy with the product and would purchase Metz again.

who cares about tread life
I have read reviews about bad treadlife on this tire but I really don't believe it. I ride hard and I ride a big heavy bike. My Dunlops got 4500 miles and my me880s got 10,000 miles. Take the air pressure up to 40 and you will get a little better mileage out of them. But you know, the handling on metz tires is like being on a sport bike, and if I can get that kind of handling, and my big heavy bike is that responsive, then I would continue to use them with much less expected mileage. This is my second set and I am still happy as I can be with them.

Metzelers, VTX 2005 1800N
The Metzelers run great on the VTX 1800N. I install the 200 on the rear with no real problems. The helmet lock seemed a little close so I tweaked it out just a little. Be sure that both tires are high speed balanced and both front and rear are change at the same time. Cornering is a lot better over the Dunlaps. Not sure of the wear factor but I will find out in a short time.

Life saving traction
Wyoming wildlife share the highway with vehicles quit often so heavy breaking and stopping traction is required. My Dunlop 403 left me sliding a couple of times but the metzeler ME 880 let me stop quick enough to watch two antelope run in front of me instead of into me. Now I'll have the opportunity to buy another when the time comes. I'm thankful. To soon to tell about wet traction or tread life.

Ran Dunlap’s got no more than 8000 miles on them on my 1800 VTX. With Metzeler, I get 10500 to 11500, on rear, which my mechanic says is excellent on a VTX. I get about 15000 miles on front
tire. We take long trips, and this is the tire I`ll run from now on.

I was going to replace the regular Dunlop rear tire on my Goldwing. When I compared prices, I ended up with this great Metzler ME880 for $20 more than a much lesser quality Dunlop(not their best model). Tracking road grooves has been minimized and I have renewed cornering ability (partially because I have a round tire again). I got 6000 miles out of the Dunlop I put on last year, I'm hoping for much better from this.

Metzeler ME 880 A Good Tire
This is the first time that I have run Metzelers on my own bike. I bought them based on the good review a friend of mine gave them. The weekend after installing the new tire, I went for a ride that had it all, dry pavement, wet pavement, loose gravel, twisty roads, hot and cold. The tire performed great, I will probably put Metzelers on it again. They are a little spendy though.

On my '97 Valkyrie Cruiser...
What a great tire! I switched from Dunlops. The ME880's are amazingly smooth, low-noise, corner-gripping and stable at high speeds. The Valk is smooth already. I know. But the 880's were such an improvement over the Dunlops that I had to write a review, which is entirely uncharacteristic for me. These are GREAT tires for the Valk. Highly recommended!

Double Miler
Both the Bridgestone and Dunlop tires gave only 8,000 miles before replacement was needed. The Metzler gave me 13,000 before needed replaced. The front Metzler is still being used and will probably give me another 2,000 over the rear tire.

This tire is awesome. Not only does it look fatter than the 210 on the sidewall suggests, but it has awesome grip and rock solid stability. I am very comfortable on this tire. In fact, I picked up a very large nail in the tread and did not even know it. Only after an entire evening slowly leaking in my garage did I notice that I had a flat rear tire. At $200 a pop, the tire isn't cheap, but I am so confident in the Metzeler, that I purchased the exact same tire to replace it. Motorcycle Superstore had the best price ($199) and free+quick shipping. I am very impressed with both companies and will definitely be a repeat customer.

Best touring tires out there
I'm getting ready to replace my 880s on my Harley FXST, even though by looking at the tread still left on them, I could squeeze another season out of them. I replaced the stock Dunlops at 15,000 miles. I now have 40,000 miles on the bike. Do the math and thats 25,000 on the Metzlers, and they still have a lot of servicable tread on them. I will never buy any other brand again. So on a scale of 1 to 5 on tread life, I give them a 9.

This is the best tire it lasted double the life of the factory Dunlop that cam on my 2005 Ultra Classic. One tip that I got was to add more air to them I ran 42psi in the front and 50 PSI in the rear WOW what a difference

7,000 mile road trip
I put this tire on before heading out on a 7,000 mile road trip from Maine to Vegas; back this summer, north to south as well. I drove in wet, dry,hot, cold, rocky and sandy conditions and this tire just handled like a dream on my 2007 Yamaha Roadstar 1700. When I got home I evaluated my tread life and I would estimate that I have not quite reached the halfway point yet, front or rear. I also do not have any cupping or flat spots either.The Metzler ME - 880 is well worth the money as far as I am concerned.

10.5k miles of hard riding says it all
I ride long distances and regularly scrape pegs on my Bonneville so have tested them cornering and in touring (desert heat and mountain cold). The ME880s work great wet or dry and while I just had to replace my rear at 10.5k miles my front still has a few miles left so my guess 12-13k before it's done. I recommend these tires for a high-mileage, real-world use.

I replaced the original MU85 Dunlop D402 rear with an 880 on my 08 StreetGlide and did not realize any substantial difference besides the tire life; it wore out at 7K as opposed to 10K for the D402. It's a quality tire, but nothing to get upset over.

I have had the tire on my 07 Sportster no for about a month now. I can't tell you about the tread life but it has been put to the test on dry roads n wet. At first it was slick but after it got a little scuffed I can't say anything bad about it. I don't track near as bad in the tire just seems to be running in a track on the road. It really holds the road that good. Will never buy another brand.

Actually I can sum the METZELER ME880 up in one short sentence. "How about 30,440 miles !" I ordered a set of these in the spring of 2004 for my Honda Sabre. After 30,000 miles I still have tread left on the rear tire, but the tire was beginning to flatten out. The front tire has more than 50% of its tread left, and is nowhere near the wear bars yet. There was no question at all in my mind what my new tire was going to be. I checked around for the best price and found that once again Motorcycle Superstore couldn't be beat. Excellent price and super fast shipping. I have two Harleys, a VS1400 Suzuki, and my Honda Sabre. The best tires for handling in all conditions, and wearability are definitely the Metzelers. As the tires wear out on the other bikes I will definitely choose Metzeler tires wherever possible. And Motorcycle Superstore will be my first choice for the purchase.

Safety on Wy back roads
We have lots of wildlife here that share our roads. My Dunlaps would lose traction in hard braking, my Metzlers just saved the life of two fawn antelopes today and maybe Mine. Only five hundred miles into them. I feel safer. Too soon to tell about wet traction or tread life. Got my vote so far.

i researched a long time visiting with others on various motorcycle forums, before i decided which tire to buy. the choice was clear, with the ME 880 being the clear front runner for my suzuki s83. i haven't had it long enough to give any firsthand experience on longevity, but what others told me on how well it lasted was highly instrumental in my purchasing decision. due to the very poor lifespan of the OEM tire, i dern sure wasn't gettin' another one of them.
i can tell you already that it is an outstanding tire with excellent grip, and it looks cool too. so far, i am very happy with my choice.

These are great tires, this being my second set. I've never ridden better tires in wet conditions or dry with a cruiser size bike. My only complaint is that tread life seemed to be less than I hoped for. 9000 miles for the rear and 10k for the front riding two-up 90% of the time. I guess that's the price you pay (softer rubber) to get the handling qualities that Metzler's have.

I bought this tire because 160/80 16 is the widest tire you can fit on an 04 and up Sporster without changing anything. To be honest I don’t like the look of the tire on the rim. It looks like an inner tube. But the handling is exceptional, the crown of the tire is more pronounced and it falls into the corner more naturally. I’ll be replacing the front with a Metzeler 90/90 soon.

ME 880 Rear tire on 07' Nomad 1600
Replaced the OEM Bridgestone rear tire with the Metzeler ME880. Wow! What a difference! The Metzeler being a 180/70-16 is considered an up-grade from the 170/70-16 OEM tire. The Metzeler has excellent traction and cornering qualities. In the past month, I have ridden over a 1000 miles on the twisty roads of the Texas Hill Country and it still looks new!
I received the tire from the Motorcycle Superstore at my home in just 4 days, the price could not be beat and it was the excellent quality German manufactured tire (not from Brazil)!
I had Metzelers on my previous bike, an 06' Vulcan 900, and have always loved the handling characteristics of these tires.

I am very impressed for the few hundred miles that I have ridden it. The tire did feel a little slick the one time I got caught in the rain, but I only had 50 miles or so on it then and may have been slick from just being new. It definitely out performs the stock Harley Dunlop hands down!!
I just hope it outlasts the Dunlop (1800 mile on the last one and 2300 on the one before it and no burnouts on either one).

Metezeler ME 880 Marathon Touring Rear Tire
This is the second ME 880 rear tire I have had on my 2005 Triumph Speedmaster and substantiates why Triumph equipped the Speedmaster with this tire at the factory. My original tire had 12,600 miles on it and had significant mileage left, but I picked up a deck screw in the center of the tire and had to replace it. The tire performs great in dry and wet conditions and affords a very comfortable ride. I will continue to use Metezeler tires on my Triumph and will soon put a set on my 1972 BSA Goldstar.

Awesome tires
I had read a lot of positive feedback about these tires and really didn't care for the stock Dunlops that came on my Sportster, (mostly because of the rapid tread wear and cornering stability) although my bike handled well. What an incredible difference these Metzeler tires make, the ride is much better,my bike corners even better than it did before and these tires don't seem to track in uneven pavement like the Dunlops do. The jury is still out on tread life, but if the wear is as good as everything else, I'll never run anything else on my bike again. Lastly, the price I paid for these tires on your site was almost unbelievable, so glad I found your store and look forward to future dealings with you.

I am very satisfied with the tire and have heard nothing but good reviews about it. I gave the wet traction and tread life a 4 (four) only because I haven't driven on any wet surface and my tire is new so I haven't really experienced any real tread wear.

Great tire! Excellent traction and ride. Of course you would like to have better tread life, but if safety is a priority then you have to give a little on tread life. Pricy? Yes. Lower tread life? Yes. Wouldn't trade them for anything else!

Good upgrade
I liked the ME880s enough that I have had 2 sets on my FXDX and switched over my wife's FXD. The ME880 is a step up in handling and wet traction from the stock Dunlops. The bike steers faster and grips better in the corners than the stockers. Straifgt line stability is about the same. Wear is pretty good. The last Metzler on the rear of a 1996 FXD lasted 13,500 miles and was replaced before it was completely worn. The front looks good and I expect it to last as long as this rear.

DUNLOP TO METZELER
I changed from the dunlop to the metzeler. The dunlop only lasted 7200 miles. Noticed right away the better stopping and the ride was smoother. 400 miles into the new tire.

Excellent tire
I bought both front and rear for a vstar 1300 which is a heavy bike. These guys saved me over a hundred dollars over what the dealer wanted for 2. The tires were a radical change from OEM dunlops. Handling characteristics are so much improved and they stick to the road like glue. Tread pattern doesn’t follow road lines, even on grooved pavement. Comfortable ride on the highway as well. If the high mileage reports are accurate as well, this has been a great investment.

Hi, I have tried two sets of tires so far. These are my third set of tires. I drive a 2008 Kawasaki classic 900 LT with two heavy people on it at all times. The tires ride is good and cornering is better then the others I had. I get about 13676 miles out of a set. 14460 miles out of my last set and I think I will get even more out of these.

This is the second 880 we have had on our 05 Harley Roadglide. We believe it's the best all around tire for our riding conditions here in the Northwest. My husband rides rain or shine year round. Would highly recommend this tire for any touring bike.

Metzeler - ME 880 Marathon Touring Rear Tire
I got an amazing 23000+ miles on my last set of ME880's on my BMW R1150RT. I mostly commute on NJ hiways and at 145lbs I'm a light weight, but I'm very impressed with these "wear like iron" tires. I've tried a few other brands and only got half the milege of these Metzeler's. I'll never buy any other tire but these!

I noticed the improved handling immediately on my 05 Honda 1300 VTX! I replaced the stock Dunlop tires with the Metzler 880, both front and rear tires. Well worth the extra money for the improved handling and performance. Brakes and tires, the two most important aspects on a motorcycle. I was looking for the best product not necessarily the cheapest tire. I would not hesitate recommending these tires.

Great tires
The price was excellent, the tires were on my porch two days before promised. I had them mounted and balanced and have 450 miles on them. They ride and and corner very well. I don't ride in the rain unless I have to and I did't have to yet so I don't know how they handle in the rain. The tread pattern is very much like the Dunlop tire that was originally on the V-Rod. Over all I'd rate it about the same as the Dunlop. I've never been disappointed with the quality or price of anything I bought from the Motorcycle Superstore.

First I like to say I never had a set of tires that did everything they say they will do. But in this case I am more than impressed with Metzeler’s me880s!!! I have been on Harleys for 35 years now, and have had all kinds of tires on several Harley models. These are the best tires I have ever had on a bike. Smooth ride, great in rain/wet, best tire in corners & twisties ever, grooved roads, steel bridges, you need to remember to keep the air pressure up as these tires hold more air then stock Dunlop’s! Outstanding tire, consistantly run correct tire pressure & got 29K miles out of the last one, still has good tread according to the dealer just lost it's curve, best touring tires I've ever owned. For me it's all about functionality. Getting relative high millage out of any tires is a must for me, but finding one that will also let me ride as aggressively as I find myself is required. I've never found a better suited tire for my Sporty (HD XLC1200)! Plenty of grip for lay back throttle in any weather and dependable traction thru the twisties at any angle!

I have been using Metzeler’s since I bought my Road King in 2004. It was a used police bike. I replaced both tires with Metzeler’s in April of 05. At that time it had 9000 miles on it. The bike now has 360000 and I just replaced both tires again. The front tire got 27000 mi and still had some tread, this was the 2nd rear tire and I am very pleased with Metzler. As far as Motorcycle Superstore, they were very helpful and my order arrived on time.

Better than OEM Dunlop
I have an ‘03 Heritage and was NOT pleased with tread wear or performance of Dunlop that came on it. So I tried the ME 880 and was pleased with all categories except tread wear. I really hoped to get better wear out of this tire. I average about 6 to 8K miles annually. I usually got about 6k out of the Dunlop and only got 7K out of the Metzler. I do NOT do burn outs and usually ride one up, but sometimes two. However, I do believe the rest of the categories were above and beyond what I have used before. I will not go back to Dunlop!
