Have had these tires on a 2001 Heritage Softail Classic for about 600 miles. I went with the blackwall and really do like the look better than the whitewall less work as well more time to ride. They ride like the previous tires, nice and smooth. I will have to wait and see how many miles I get on them. It’s the only tire with Harley's name on it, which has to mean something. Though the price of motorcycle tires is ridiculous compared to car tires, Dunlop is probably the best of all tires, at least for Harleys. Service was lightning fast from M/C Superstore and I couldn't be more pleased with the overall experience. The folks in Berkeley who installed the tire were also first class in the way they treated me and my bike, highly recommend to anyone.

Put a 2nd D402 on Scooter, first one got 8400 mile out of it. Thought I’d try again. I had wrong air pressure, raised it up to 40 instead of 35, so far doing great. Got 2600 on it and it still looks new.

Original tire lasted 10,252 miles. No flats. It wore out.
I replaced it with the exact same tire, a D402, it did not do as well. It wore out at 6835 miles. No flats.
I ride the same roads, speed, temperature and had rode more 2 up with the first tire than the 2nd. I check alignment as well. I am at a loss as to why the lack of life on this tire.
I will try one more, I hope it improves to at least match the first life, if no luck I will try an Avon.
Some people specualte that Motorcycle Superstore gets old stock from Dunlop or seconds...?

I have run this tire exclusively on my Harleys. This particular tie went on my 2008 Harley RoadGlide to replace the original 402 Dunlop that came from the factory on it. The original tire gave me 14000 miles. These are mostly touring miles. This is in my opinion a GREAT tire. It handles well, does well in rain and gets a long run... what else can be asked of a touring tire???

I am about to replace the rear tire on my 2006 Ultra Classic for the second time in 16,000 miles. I also have to replace the front tire at this time too. Harley Davidson must think that because you can afford to buy the bike you can put new tires on it every season too. From the reviews I have read I am switching to the Michelin Commander.

The Dunlop 402's are a good fit for my Harley Road King. They are also the OEM tire. I like the way the rear tires wear (about 8-10k miles) and stick very well through the 10k but then I do change them each spring so the rubber stays fresh. I tried the Elite 3's, but do not like the way they wear. The center tread wears quickly (about 5k miles) and rain performance drops considerably. Although I do get about 12-14k miles out of the tire.

This tire is the OEM replacement tire per the owner's manual, so its got to be good. The price was excellent. I checked Harley's pricing and also checked four (4) other aftermarket companies on line and your tire was the least expensive; plus no taxes or shipping charges. The tire was shipped and arrived on time as promised. I'm glad I went with the blackwall option, for three reasons; its cheaper, it was hard to keep the former whitewall clean on my 2005 H-D Electra Glide Classic, and I actually like the look of the blackwall. 2005 Road Glide, I just had my 10,000 mile service done at 10,500 miles. The front is the HD Dunlop 402F and the rear is the HD Dunlop 402. I had my rear tire changed at the "10,500" service and my front tire is still ok. I do not keep air pressure checked and could have probably gotten another 2000 miles or so out of the rear if I would have kept the air pressure checked. I just get on the bike and ride, I guess that was pretty good mileage from what I have heard about other brands. I think this is the best "Bang for Your Buck". I ride a 2002 Electra Glide and get 9,000 - 10,000 out of it. (I could go 12,000 but that's pushing the envelope.) You can pay $20 extra for a white wall but for what. The bike looks good "Back in Black". Dunlop has a softer rubber compound that holds the road. You can buy other more expensive brands and get more mileage but it's a harder rubber. I do all my own work and 10,000 miles is a good time to look over your wheels & brakes.

The D402 is an OEM replacement for the Harley touring bikes. I would love to see a Rear tire that will last more than 10,000 miles. The tire has a rounded profile which does not lend well to quicker side to side action. But I guess if that were my only goal I'd be riding a FJ1300. Overall traction is good and wet traction is better than average. Good tire for the price.

It's been a great ride!
I don't know about the rest of the reviewers, but I'm changing mine after 7 years and just under 10,000 miles of mountains, plains, and a couple Sturgis rides with no issues. For the last 5K I've used nitrogen and this seems to keep the pressure steady and friction heat lower. This may have helped prolong the miles but I bet it is my sensible riding style as well. A great riding tire with higher load capacity than the D404's.

While this is THE tire H-D recommends, it gets horrible mileage (in the 7,000 mi range). At the price, I'd expect to get at least 10k. In all fairness, it does handle different types of pavement like rain grooves or painted surfaces without any issues. Just wears out way too fast.
