Beats the D407
Overall the Elite beats the D407 hands down for overall performance and ride. The tread life is still unknown but hope it will beat the D407 ... got 18887 miles from the D407. HD price for rear tire $275.95 for BW/$287.95 for SWW! Och!

Best tire on the road.
I love the Elite 3 tires. I had a flat on the rear tire while riding 2 up. The tire never went to the rim. I could tell something was not right but when I got off the bike it look like it was still up. Now as far as tread life, I replaced my rear tire a year ago and it had over 17,000 miles on it. Yes that is correct. A stock 402 on my Ultra would only get between 7500 to 8000 before I had to replace it. The Elite 3 will last over 17000 on my scooter.

The only tire to have
After replacing the D407 on the rear, I decided to put the elite on and only wished I had done so earlier than the 17,000 miles on the original tire. The ride and smoothness are more noticeable than the tire that came on the bike. I will certainly be putting this tire on again when the time comes.

replacement Harley tires
I purchased front and rear tires. The bike handles great. There is a noticeable improved feel to my ride. The price was great also.

Dunlops
I put these on my bike before my ride to Sturgis, they are far better that the dunlops that come on the bike. I no longer feel the road snakes, did over 4000 miles on them and quite a bit of riding in the rain, the traction is great. I'm not a great fan of dunlop tires, bought these because they were all I could find to fit my 2010 FLHTCU. I like these tires enough that I would buy them again.

Tap
It is a great tire but not any better than the route 66's I have on my other bike and they cost about a $1oo more. If I could have gotten the 66's for my Harley I would have.

Hands down winner over O.E.
Have 9,000+ miles on the rear now and @ 7/32 tread depth. At this rate it shouldn't need replacement until 15,000 miles. Will be using the American Elite from here on.

Great Mileage
I have used a lot of tires in my life. But this tire has the best handling and tread wear. I have a new 2011 Road Glide Ultra and I am putting on a new tire as the old tire has 12500 miles on it. All the other tires that I have had in the past lasted 7000 or 8000 miles and that was all. I like the new wider tire with the new compound design.

Great tire
Bought this tire to replace the Dunlop Elite III on my Victory Vision. So far, this tire has performed flawlessly. Very quiet and has great traction. The rounder profile gives a good soft ride and makes my bike corner even better than the original Elite III. Wish it could have came in the exact sizes for my bike. I purchased the 180/65/16 to replace an 180/60/16 so the tire is actually a bit taller. Can't wait to see if they are going to make it in more sizes, hopefully by the time I'm ready to replace the front. Can't comment on the mileage as I've have only ridden about 500 miles on it, but it looks like it might be a good high mileage one like the Elite III's.
