Went on a little tough, but maybe that's because I could not wait for my wife to try it. She loves it which means I love it. Looks really nice on the Shadow and gives her great back support and a feeling of security.
Not worth the money or aggravation

Although the description and item selection (for a Nomad 1700) suggest that this sissy bar will work, in reality, for it to fit, you have to disassemble the existing seat. All of the existing seat components have to be removed, including the chrome & plastic pieces that make up the handles and frame covers. All that is left is the bare seat frame. If you want a taller seat, you have to settle for ugly, since the handles & chrome pieces can't go back on the bike.
Fit like a glove, looks great

I got the short sissy bar for my 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit VT750C2. Install was quick and straightforward, and it fit perfectly. I've since gotten the Cobra saddlebag supports for this bike and they mounted easily over the sissy bar mounts using the sissy bar bolts - no mods needed. I pre-waxed both the sissy bar and the bag supports, to avoid the pitted chrome others have mentioned. Looks awesome!

Easy install and looks great. I recommend this sissy bar. Only wish the hardware was made to allow easy bungee attachment on hooks without my having to improvise with longer bolts and washers. Love it though.

There was just barely enough room to install the sissy bar on my XL 1200 C, but enough is enough. I bought the tall with a large backrest. Like Steve above, I was concerned that it would look out of place, but does not, and my wife is very happy with too.
Top notch

Went on in less than 15 minutes. Looks great. Passengers say it feels great. I have 1100 Honda Sabre, had to modify saddlebag yoke for installation (slits for pass thru).

The sissy bar installed relatively easy but less than a month later its already starting to rust. This is the only reason I find it hard to recommend this .
Wonderful!

Very high quality and it is VERY easy to install. My wife will finally ride with me for longer than a trip to the grocery store. She tells me it is comfortable and it has completely changed her opinion on motorcycle rides. A must have for carrying passengers. Looks great too!
