It extends 48 inches which is enough to reach from the handle bars to most front disc brakes. Coiled spring like for ease of storage the spring action is relaxed enough that using it isn't a wrestling match. There are no exposed hard or sharp edges to endanger paint or your hands. Glad I bought it.
