Kilamanjaro Jacket
First, Superstore's performance in the transaction was superb. Second, the jacket. It appears to be very well constructed and has all the features I was looking for. I can't comment on its waterproofness, but it is wind proof with or without the liner and quite warm. My complaint is that the arms are uncomfortably tight with the liner in place. Of course when I tested it the liner was out and only a slight snugness was noted in the arms which did not ring the warning bell. After 1/2 hour with the liner in place I was wishing I was home. By the way my arms, though long are not very big in diameter. Time to go to the gym.

Kilj jacket
My third jacket from Firstgear, very happy with company in general. Only problem with this jacket: I have a leather Firstgear jacket in Tall Large that fits like a glove and the Kilimanjaro jacket of the same size is baggy in the torso. Probably a cut difference in textile vs. leather but otherwise a great jacket. Warm, plenty of pockets, durable fasteners. I surmise my fourth jacket will be Firstgear as well.

Great jacket
No complaints. 6' 4", 230 lbs XL-tall fits perfectly. With liner, comfortable below freezing. Without liner can wear into 60s. A little stiff, but comfortable to wear while riding.

Jacket
This is my first jacket like this and I wasn't sure what to expect. I ordered a size too large and then reordered the correct size. What a difference, it is comfortable and with the liner I will be able to use it in colder weather no problem.

Best jacket i've worn
Pockets everywhere, waterproof, and warm. Great jacket. I can where it when it is 30 degrees outside or when it is 70 degrees. I commute everyday with this jacket and it has served me very well.

Firstgear - Kilimanjaro Jacket
I'm writing this from Arizona where it has ONLY been lower than 80F for a daily high ONCE since I got the jacket (and then, 78F!) so I haven't worn it yet. The fit is GREAT (I'm 5'10", 177#, size is "L"), and it looks fine. I bought it because of the jacket's reputation, its looks, and previous buys from Motorcycle Superstore that I've been VERY happy with!

AMAZING JACKET
I rode to work today and it was only 27 degrees out. It takes about 45 minutes to get to work. I was toasty all the way. All I had on was the Kilimanjaro and a long sleeve t-shirt and I was sweating by the time I got to work. This is at 4:30 AM so there's no sun to warm you up. This jacket is almost too warm sometimes. All I need is a t-shirt and I'm good down to 27 degrees so far. I'll be looking to test it with lower temperatures next week. Awesome jacket.

Great Jacket, great price
I have had many jackets over the last 15 years motorcycling and this is one of the best. Completely waterproof, good to wear with liner down to about 20 degrees. Fit and finish is very good, and the pockets are in the right spots. I gave a 3 for durability as the jacket is too new to rate, as I have only used it for a couple thousand miles. The only thing I do not like is the lack of Velcro on the neck flap, it is a metal button which can get tricky to clip in place. I am just more used to Velcro in the neck as it is easier to stick together.

Best jacket I have ever had.
I have more than several jackets. Lots of experience with motorcycle gear and protective jackets and other gear. To put it quick and simple this is the best jacket I have ever had and I have retired all the other ones. This is my jacket of choice in all but very extreme hot days say 90 degrees and over. In those conditions, nothing works, not even mesh jackets. So on those days jacket goes in trunk and I just enjoy the nice day and feel the breeze. In all other conditions, you would look a long time to find one to beat this one.

Firstgear - Kilimanjaro Jacket
Must admit that I was concerned about the "Wine and Silver" color, but the price was just too good to pass up. Turns out that it is a sharp looking jacket. I love the color combination. The sleeves are just a bit long, but then I have very short arms. The collar is a bit tall and rubs if top snap is fastened. Leaving the top snap undone, it fits just fine and does an excellent job of protecting the neck in cold weather riding. Have ridden in mid-thirty degree weather on a ST1100, and stayed warm and comfortable. Have not had the opportunity to try it in serious rain or in summer heat as yet, so can not comment on the water resistance or venting. Great jacket with good features. If it wears as well as my first, Firstgear jacket, it's a steal at this price.

Timbuktu Air Jacket
I bought this jacket to travel through South America. At first I was amazed by the weight of the jacket, its heavy!!! The inner linen had to be taken out of the jacket the same day, to wear that linen in the tropics is almost impossible without having a heat stroke. I was worried about the jacket too because it´s very heavy and warm, but I can manage to wear it in Caracas, with all the ventilation zippers open it´s comfortable when riding, if you have to stop at a red light then you´ll suffer. Anyway the construction of the jacket is very sturdy and looks great, at midday I would say it´s impossible to wear in the tropics, but in any other softer climate it would work perfectly.

Great jacket...much more than I was expecting.
Having purchased ICON jackets for upwards of $400 (on sale), I was pretty much expecting a budget jacket for the price I paid for this Firstgear Kilimanjaro. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the jacket and put it on. It's build really well and feels solid and heavy with the liner installed. I have not used it without the liner yet and I have the feeling it might be too hot for the summer months in New Mexico, but for 6 months out of the year this will be a great jacket for me. I liked it so much that I bought a matching one for my wife!

Great Product
This is a great jacket. Don't let the low price fool you. I love the fit and the overall quality of the jacket. It has pockets everywhere, great protection for a textile coat, and sheds water like a duck's back. I've ridden in pouring rain and it is dry and toasty. It would probably be too hot for summer, but is a great cool/cold weather coat.

A little stiff and not as warm as my Teknic of similar style but matches my Burgundy Trophy perfectly. Nice spring/fall coat. Maybe too hot for NM summer and not warm enough for below 40.

Firstgear-Kilimanjaro Jacket
Great product at great price from a good superstore. Very happy with everything the jacket offers. Just returned from a ride where the temps were in the low 50's and the jacket provided excellent coverage as well as warmth. Thank you for selling it at the price it was offered and excellent service.

Kilimanjaro Jacket
I found this jacket to be well made, comfortable, and versatile. While this jacket is effective for cold weather, I have also found it comfortable even if the weather is a bit warmer. I haven't had a chance to test its waterproofing capability, but I am pretty sure it will meet that expectation given how well the jacket has lived up to the other claims.

Firstgear-Kilimanjaro Jacket
The jacket is so well constructed that it lessens the need for extra layers, and I feel quite well protected from any road rash. There is more storage space than a Winnebago with all the pockets. I don't think this jacket will ventilate as well in the summer as my Cortech Fusion, its not possible to build the heaviest, most durable jacket and also make it lightweight. For the NorthWest USA, it's perfect 10 months a year.

The perfect Jacket.
I had always had my eye on this jacket, really do not know why I did not purchase one before this. Now that I have, it is a great jacket.
I ride in temps from 32 to up to 107 degrees, and before this jacket I had always used a mesh jacket, all jackets get warm when you stop, even the mesh ones, but I have found that this jacket performs just as well as any of the mesh ones, simply due to the position of the vents on the jacket, they hit the secret with this one. It works.
Plus see a rain squall coming, unlike mesh jackets, you can still stay dry. Stop zip up the vents and you will stay dry in a toad strangler.
Warm in cooler temps, roomy, comfortable, looks nice, what more could you want??
Like all things there is a complaint, and I only have one small one, the arm length to jacket size ratio is a bit long. But most jackets are, just about one inch too long, for the average sized person , and I suppose in true fit, I could wear a smaller one, I just like a loose fit jacket, not one that chokes me to death.
All in all, this is the very best Jacket I have ever had. That is saying a lot with all the jackets on the market, but this one is a keeper.

The Kilimanjaro to the test!!!
Funny I receive this e mail today as we are in Yellowstone and rode through the worse 120 miles of rain, hail, sleet you can imagine. Yes, in July!
This would basically be as holding the jacket under a shower for a few hours. I loved the jacket from day one... love it even more today, no sense for a long review... I stayed dry, meaning "dry". I like the liner which I wear as a jacket, we have been on the road my dog Spirit and I now for three years and it saves me from packing another one. It is good with the liner for temps down to mid forties, anything below that I wear my heated jacket, liner and the outer jacket. Works great...
The pockets by the way also stayed dry as I worried a bit about my I Phone. This is a winner.
So there... go for it, for the price it is the best, stands up with the one I had paid three times that amount!

Killamanjaro Review
I was looking for a good fall/spring jacket with particular attention to stopping the wind for crisp morning commutes (down to about 35 F, so far). I don't ride that much in the wet, but its nice knowing I have a water proof jacket on if the weather turns nasty. The jacket does a very good job with resisting the wind and keeping me warm, but also has pretty good airflow if you open up the vents for those warm afternoons. Being 3/4 length, I get more wind protection down toward the thigh area. I do wish they had a 10" zipper in the back to match my pants though, even though the extra long jacket overlaps the gap between pant and jacket, I would feel more secure knowing they were tied together. Overall I am very happy with this jacket; it's extended my motorcycling season another month or so and that's worth the price of admission.

My second Kilimanjaro jacket
I have had one of these for about seven years. I still use my first one that is still in good shape. When they went on sale I just could not resist and purchased my second. This new one feels good and is a little better than the first in some areas, but the arms flutter at speeds above about 90. This can be a little distracting and I don't need distractions while motoring along at those speeds. Other than that it is warm, dry and comfortable. What more do you want? Great ventilation and almost too much storage. B.
My wife wishes a women's medium was available for her at that bargain price too.

Kilmanjaro Jacket
Fit is good through the shoulders, but sleeves are too long and the body is a bit bulky. I have a previous version of the jacket in the size I ordered and it fits fine. I asked when I placed the order if the fit was the same as the previous version, and was told that it was. The quality is good, but the fit is not.

kilimanjaro Jacket ROCKS
Excellent features and good fit and well thought out. I haven't ridden it in rain yet but 38 degrees yesterday with a t-shirt under and toasty. This ver. 5 has pit zips which are really nice as are the waterproof zippers. I am very pleased and expect this jacket to outlast most of my other gear.

Firstgear - Kilimanjaro Jacket
Have always admired the Kilimanjaro Jacket. When I saw the close-out price, it seemed like a steal. Was a bit worried that the color would be a problem, but it really looks sharp. The only negative is the collar is a bit too tall, and rubs when buttoned completely up. Leaving the top snap open seems to work just fine. Have ridden in mid-thirty weather, and it does the job nicely.

Firstgear kilimanjaro Jacket
Overall I like the coat. Two things bring it down: first the neck has no adjustment, fine if you have a 20" neck, otherwise it's a bit loose. Second, the upper sleeves seem to lack enough insulation. I wore it to work in 33 degrees and found both upper arms were cold. This was on a Gold Wing.

Minor issue
I bought this jacket for cold weather riding. I ride in temperatures down to 24 degrees in the winter 37 miles one way on the freeway. I have worn this jacket twice so far because it is only September and the temp is still around 65-70 degrees in the morning and 95-100 in the afternoon. The only issue I have so far is that the thermal liner does not zip up on itself. Zips into the jacket shell fine but not onto itself. Also I got the tall and the neck rides up under my helmet in the back. Probably should’ve gotten the standard model.

Works well...
On a recent 5400 mile trip covering 17 States and 1 Province in 11 days the Kilimanjoro jacket worked very well. Temperatures ranged from 40 - 105F. Ventilation is good and I could wear the jacket (without liner) up to 85 degrees before getting hot. I would buy it again.

Kilimanjaro 5.0
I had a version 3.0 of this jacket that I bought used. This jacket is significantly upgraded. It has heavier fabric and CE approved armor. I took an all day ride yesterday and it was comfortable and seems to breathe very well. I can't comment on the waterproofness yet.

good stuff
I am 6 foot 5 inches tall and was worried about fit in the arms especially, but it is great. The coat is well made and has all the features I need in a jacket but the cold weather hasn't come yet. Looks good and feels very tough, but only time will tell. I have worn it in warm weather without the liner and it has great ventilation.

Heavy duty jacket. Removable liner can be worn separately. Looks fine. Made for motorcycling. I am curious about how it fares in the heat in the Okanagan Valley as well as the Boundary country. I think the jacket would probably stop a bullet.

Jacket
I bought the jacket before riding to Colorado from Maryland. Overall fit of the jacket is good. Looks like it would be very durable. The temperature ranged from the high 50's to low 80's most of the way and I wore just a t-shirt underneath with the liner removed and the vents open in the warmer weather.

Can't Go Wrong with This One
Bought last year's model of this jacket in red....like the "look" better than this year's model, but this is top notch jacket. Have ridden in temperatures as cold as 40 degrees, and this thing is airtight and warm. There are plenty of vents on the arms, chest and back to open up in warmer weather....I've been quite comfortable (when moving) in temperatures up to 80 degrees with the liner removed and vents open. Does get quite warm when you stop (no surprise), so I just ordered a mesh summer jacket for the really hot & humid days that coming soon. Plenty of pockets and storage...only complaint is it's a little tough to dig stuff out of the front chest pockets...a minor complaint overall. Size is really true --- I'm 5'10 173 lbs and the large fits perfectly.

Top of the line
This has got to be by far the best all weather Jacket I have ever owned. This is a standalone jacket. I have ridden on different times several hundred miles in the rain since owning this jacket and have stayed dry when others have gotten wet. With all the adjustments and venting and zip in liner it seems that un-like other companies First gear let a motorcycle rider design this jacket or listened to the wants and needs of riders.
Well done and kudos to First Gear. I will not go anywhere without this jacket.

Kilimanjaro Jacket
When my Harley-Davidson Gore-Tex jacket was ruined in a recent deer-motorcycle crash I began a search to replace it. I couldn't find an exact Harley replacement so I searched the internet for what I thought would be a close second. The Kilimanjaro seemed to fit the bill. After several rides I am becoming convinced that the new jacket has surpassed all of the things that I loved about the old. It's too early to speak about durability and longevity but all indicators point to a long tough, lasting jacket. So far, I am very pleased with the Kilimanjaro.

Outstanding!
I just wore my Kilimanjaro jacket for the first time tonight in 35 degree weather at highway speeds+. I have NEVER been so impressed with a piece of gear in my life! Fit is excellent, pockets are abundant, and I couldn't believe the wind shear! I had no drafts whatsoever! I only had a short sleeve t-shirt and a long sleeve henley on underneath and I was fine! I'm going to buy a pair of First Gear pants tonight!

Gorgeous jacket. I was a bit disappointed when I intended to order, what looked like black/purple, and received grey/purple. I love the ample amt of pockets. I haven't ridden in freezing weather yet, but it'll get tested soon enough. (I still would have preferred black)

Klimanjaro Jacket
Another great product from Firstgear! I use this jacket with my H2 overpants in extreme coastal weather. For sure the warmest and driest jacket I have. Paired with the overpants, I'm dry as a bone, the only heated gear I have are gloves. I can wear a polo shirt down into the forties and be comfortable. Plenty of room for layering if needed. Warm into the thirties no matter what the length of trip. Have had this setup for over three years so this stuff is 'quality"!

Firstgear Kilimanjaro
Very surprised and pleased at how this jacket fits. It has plenty of room for comfort, yet fits like a riding jacket should. Has pockets galore. Especially like the lower outside pockets which should be good to keep toll booth change and petrol money. Temperature insulation with the liner zipped in place has been surprisingly comfortable down into the high 30s without any additional layers. Below that, a sweatshirt underneath seems to be adequate for anything below 30 degrees so far. With the removable liner, this promises to be an excellent all weather jacket, even for warmer weather, for local riding or long trips.

Great Jacket
I bought this after reading lots of reviews and asking around. Very pleased with it. The liner is a little thin, but I planned to use the jacket with a heated liner anyway, so no big deal. They should make an all black jacket, in my opinion. I got the red one and like it fine. There should be a few more color options. I would buy again... and I did... one for the wife...

Very nice jacket
With the liner in the jacket, it's a little bulky and stiff, but it's not an issue when you're on the bike. Excellent cold weather gear. A four hour ride in sub 40 deg weather was a piece of cake - I was very comfortable for the duration. I was a little surprised that there was no zipper for attaching to riding pants. Jacket appears as if it will be very durable. I'm very happy with the jacket so far.

Size chart is accurate do not "size up" I have warn the jacket down to 35 degrees with no problem with just a dress shirt under the jacket. Hi vis color looks all business. I think the jacket could use additional reflective material on back and sleeves. Sleeves are a little long on me (or maybe by arms are too short) great jacket. Recommended

Excellent Jacket, I ordered the Day Glo color for visibility. The jacket fit perfect and the quality is excellent! Well designed jacket and I love the vents under the armpit! the inner jacket is comfortable and warm. It seems Firstgear did their homework on this jacket. Highly recommend it!
