The leather like appearance has made this a worthwhile purchase. The helmet is still somewhat bulky. They are sized larger than expected so I had to order a size smaller than normal

Neck problems and the image conscious beware
When I unpacked my Nomad Rival helmet, my artist friend guffawed and said, "Oh Lord! You have to quilt a black bed-jacket to match so you can wear it with this helmet."
I may do that because I like a good joke.
However, if you have no sense of humor, or If you are wanting a gnarly retro-steampunk look, you might be disappointed in the overall appearance of this high sitting, very padded and overlarge helmet. It looks like a giant mushroom on the head. I'm thinking of faux finishing it to look as if it is made of old cast iron.
I have some neck injuries, so time will tell if it's too heavy for long rides. It's not something I can forget is up there. I feel VERY very safe from brain injury though.
