Nice Pair of Pants
Overall, very comfortable pants. I wear them as an overpant over shorts for the hot Texas summers, and they are pretty comfortable. A lot of my riding is in over 90 degree heat and you can wear them. Zippers work well and they have padding in the right places. Keeping the rubber side up, I don't know how they would fare in a crash, but let's just say I am confident they will be a heck of a lot better than shorts.

Mesh Tex 2.0 - so far so good
It finally got warm enough to try out these pants. They fit well though I would recommend ordering one size larger - I wear a 30' jean and the 32 pants fit snugly. They are cool at speed but I wonder how much protection there is here from road rash - hope I never find out. They seem to be well made but you will have to take your boots off to get them on. Can't comment on the durability yet.

Large tall pants fit perfect. I'm 6'3 210lbs, 36" inseam. Fits well over boots. I'm happy with them. Would recommend.

Firstgear - Mesh-Tex 2.0 Pants
I purchased these riding pants to eliminate riding with jeans hoping the comfort level would be better. I do have to say that the Mesh-Tex pants are much better than jeans for the following reasons: They allow air movement through leg areas keeping me cooler during hot weather, they dry very fast when exposed to rain (not 100% water proof though), I no longer have to pack numerous pairs of jeans for a trip, they do not bunch up and become tight, Can wear with under ware only if desired which was very comfortable, Even in cooler weather I did not get cold (60 F).
Cons: They do not have heat resistant panels on legs near exhaust and have melted. (I'm planning on sewing my own material on right leg area), I had to super glue boot zippers in down position as they would unzip during ride and flap around and touch exhaust (I always put my pants on before boots anyway so this didn't matter).
I am very happy with these pants considering the cost. I would recommend them for the budget minded individual.

First Gear Mesh-Tex 2 Pants
Being on the short side I find that First Gear is my first choice for motorcycle clothing as they provide short sizes. I have yet to be disappointed in any of their products and these pants are no exception. The fit is spot on; they are very comfortable and cool in the hot weather. If I have to find fault at all it is that the two front pockets could do with larger openings as I find them tight to get my hands into. The knee pocket is very useful for ready access to money, etc. The back zip at the bottom of each leg makes donning boots much easier too. The padding at knees, hips and thighs is soft and unobtrusive. A great product.

Great pants -- but not really "overpants"...
I love FirstGear equipment, because it comes in Tall sizes. As someone who's 6'2" tall and wears a 42L jacket and 34/34 pants, most L sizes are too short and XL sizes are too baggy on me, but FirstGear size LT fits me juuuust right!
I ride to work and need to wear dress pants under the overpants (no shorts or jeans). I have a pair of Sport Tour overpants that I love, but they get hot for street riding when the weather gets to about 70F, and I wanted mesh pants for the warmer weather instead of riding without protection (I have healed road rash on my knees as a reminder as to why). With the Sport Tours that works very well, due to the leg zippers that go all the way up to the hip, but with the Mesh-Tex pants the side zippers barely reach the calf.

Nice Pants
I have been wearing these as overpants until it warms up. They will be great pants in the summer as they let lots of air through. The pockets could be a little more thought out is the only complaint I have about them so far.

Just as good as the first ones
I bought these to replace a pair of First Gear textile pants I bought in 01, there has been improvements in their looks, as well as these are the short model, so they fit me better than the original one length only model. I wear 36" waist and 29" inseam jeans, these fit perfect, the knee armor rides where it should when riding.

Not just for hot weather.
Great pants. I've worn these in a range of temps by wearing them over sweat pants or thermals. With a pair of synthetic thermals inside, you're warmer and way better protected than in just jeans.

cheap zipper
The zipper broke on my pants after a couple of months. I was able to get that repaired by a local tailor. Other than that I like these pants, great in hot weather. I do wonder how good the protection is however.

Great Summer Pants
After my wife saw mine, we ordered a second pair for her. These pants fit well and the sizing is very accurate. They are cut right to be very comfortable on the bike and are absolutely not "clammy". We dual sport ride in Colorado, and afternoon showers are part of the game. We just carry on old pair of nylon ski shell pants and pull them over the Mesh-Tex pants when it rains. It is enough to mostly protect against light showers and if a little moisture penetrates, the Mesh-Tex pants dry quickly once the shower is over. We haven't really tested the durability yet, but they look much more substantial than a pair of jeans. I saw some comments about zipper problems, but the zippers look very substantial, and we certainly haven't had any problems. These pants looked like a bargain when we ordered them, and it seems more like that after using them.

Perfect pants in the perfect size.
Fit, finish, durability, features and cost are up to the usual high standards of First Gear products. The best thing for me is that they come in short sizes for those of us with short legs. I've tried on pair after pair of riding pants at retail stores, web stores, bike shows, races, etc., but they never fit because the legs were always too long. Then I learned that motorcycle-superstore was stocking First Gear pants in short and tall sizes. The short size was perfect for my 28.5 inch inseam. Having finally found a size that fit, I also ordered the First Gear regular riding pants in the same short size. It is also a perfect fit. Thank you First Gear and Motorcycle-Superstore.

Great Summer Pants
Firstgear provides a large variety of sizes, and not just S,M,L,XL. This allowed to me pick a size that worked. They fit snug in all the right places and they don't feel like I am wearing balloon pants; but also provide great protection. The mesh allows them breath making them a great summer pant.

Cool pants - literally
These mesh pants hold no heat - which is exactly what I want for summer riding. Of course there is a trade-off in protection, but I have a great fear of road-rash and I'm pretty sure these pants will protect me from such.

Mesh-Tex 2.0 Pants
Recently purchased pair of these pants for summer riding. Great fit, especially like the fact that being of short stature they were offered in short lengths. Fit is excellent, comfort is also excellent. Maybe Firstgear will also offer winter riding pants in short sizes. I would recommend these pants for anyone for warm weather riding.

Mesh-Tex 2 Pants
Received these pants right before a 4 day, 1350 mile ride, which temps varied from 30’s to 90’s. These worked great. They have enough pocket space for keys, wallet, MP3, etc. For the lower temps, had nylon windbreaker pants underneath, and they did fine. For the hotter days, was great with just shorts. I would do this purchase again, as was very satisfied. Bonus is you have a choice of 3 inseam lengths.

I like the pants... but the 2nd day I used them the zipper broke. This seams to be a trend with first gear first my jacket snap broke the first time I took out the liner now the zipper in the pants the second time I use them.

Great Pants

Protection and comfort

Great Pants!!!!
I ordered these pants for summer. I had the opportunity to ride with them yesterday and the temperature got up to the upper 80s. They were not too hot and offer a bit more protection than jeans. The fit and comfort are outstanding. They seem to run a little large so if you are between sizes, go to the smaller side. I have another pair of First Gear HT overpants and really like them as well. Bless FG for offering a length for those of us that are of more average height. Everyone else seems to think that if you have a 36"-38" waist you must be over 6 feet. Thanks First Gear and The Super Store.

The reviews of this item are accurate. The pants fit perfectly right out of the box first time. The fit and finish are excellent and all components e.g. zippers, snaps, etc. are very stout. I live in a hot, humid state and pants are well-ventilated exactly as advertised! Nicely done! Every item I have bought at MCSS which had a good review has been excellent. Excellent pants. Mesh-Tex 2.0 Pants -- review
For riding during the flaming hot days of Summer in the Gulf Coast of Texas, these pants are surprising well ventilated. Very few manufacturers of motorcycle gear consider the fact that many motorcycle riders live in this part of the U.S., and it is unbearably hot to ride in leather, unless that leather is well-ventilated.

Superb quality and versatility
I happily wore these pants dual-sporting on and off-road for a year and 6000 miles. Normally a 38 waist but the 36 fit snug, and good-looking. Made a 3-season pant by wearing thin gore-tex shell and polypro underneath, so the extra space of 38 would be welcome. Finish is superb, and they protected me in many instances, most notably a glancing crash into a chain link fence, whereupon the front right thigh was ripped out so that I looked like Mad Max. I had some hefty bruises on my leg but nary a scratch, even though nothing but skin underneath. Padding protected my knee fair enough too. Also it was 100 deg in Moab area that day and I stayed fairly cool as long as I was moving. Will replace. I have matching jacket and like how they zip together. Can't say enough good about these pants.

I really like the mesh tex pants but I knew the pants would be good as I have a Kilamanjaro jacket and it is great too. I like how the pants fit since I'm 6 foot three and I don't find myself interested in any other gear than Firstgear.

Excellent Gear

Mesh Tex 2.0 Tall Pant

Great pants!
I have had these pants for over a year now and decided to write a review. Pants are very comfortable and fit true to size. I can wear them over my normal pants and they fit good. Great to wear as a three season pant. If it is a little cool out I can wear some fleece pants under them for extra warmth. Great value for the money.

1st Gear Mesh-Tex 2 pants
They work well for me during hot riding days. I got the Tex 2's because they came in a short length. They look good enough to wear around when not on the bike. Price was good I thought and quality is as I expect from First Gear. Better than jeans on a hot day, especially when standing around when you get where you are going. They offer some protection over jeans in case you go down.

Great pants, length is right on for 5'6" person. Could use better way to close the boot area to keep wind out. Love the pants, great construction and protection. Very comfortable to use in mildly warm weather; good on cold rides.

Mesh Tex 2.0 Short Pant
I hate to mail order clothing, but no local dealer had these in stock. Boy was I surprised when I tried them on! Perfect fit on my shorter frame! I ordered a 40 waist, but I could have gotten away with a 38 instead...the expandable waist leaves lots of stretch room!
During riding season it can be 100 one day and down to 55 the next in my part of the country- and these pants work perfectly! On hot days I wear them over shorts, and on cooler days I use them as overpants with jeans or slacks-

Nice and cool
Unlike over pants, these fit more tightly so they look better. The built quality is excellent and I like the fact that it has three pockets for small objects. The hip pads are nice and thick. The knee armor is soft however. Overall a very nice pair of pants; nicely made with good attention to details.

Mesh Tex 2.0 Pants
The only way to get a short inseam was to mail order - something I hate to do with clothing. The pants arrived the day before a 60 mile trip into South Carolina. This trip convinced me I had done the right thing. Great fit, great airflow. I commute 23 miles each way in stop & go traffic, and this month it has been over 80 degrees in the afternoon. These are fantastic warm weather pants!!

Mesh Tex 2.0 Short Pant
Being on the vertically challenged (short), obviously the first thing I noticed is that I didn't have a bolt of material between my knees and the floor; and the crotch was where it should be. The next thing I noticed is the quality of workmanship and design for motorcycling. I'm sure glad I decided to buy a pair; and the when I need to replace them I sure hope they are still making them.
