Good unit, but could use some improvements

I had this unit and my riding buddy had the XBi-2. Once we got them to synch up they were fantastic. We got the full 500 meter range claimed with great clarity. Talking through the phone was terrific, could talk with my wife on the phone during a pretty significant wind storm during the ride, and she heard me just fine. Some improvements: USB Charger, please. Make it chargeable while being used. Better battery life. Optional use of ear buds.

Customer

Purchased 2 XBi2-H's for my husband and I so we could communicate between bikes. Syncing process was tricky but finally got it working. Intention was to listen to music while paired with our phones and use the intercom system as needed. There is an echo with the intercom but I can live with that since we can still hear each other at freeway speeds. Volume is too low to hear music above 35mph. Expected better sound quality for the price. Would still by this product again but should be cheaper.

CHATTERBOX

It works well except getting the mic to stay in one place but as far as sound I too had a problem but I called the co they were great what we found out was they had included the wrong speakers little ones sent the larger speakers and it was night and day. Also I have an hjc modular helmet and I found when I put a slim piece of foam behind the speakers when I installed them it moved them closer to my ears. I have extremely loud pipes and I can listen to classical at 80mph perfectly

Works for me, but wish for longer battery life per charge

I ride solo, so don't use the intercom feature. Mostly, I got this so I could hear my GPS directions. Since I also get XM through my gps, I listen to my tunes, too. Unfortunately, I can only listen to music for about 4 hours before the headset dies and I have to recharge it. As far as the volume goes, it works for me. I hear my GPS directions clearly, even had to turn down the GPS volume. Tunes have to be up full blast, and at highway speeds, aren't perfectly clear, but good enough for me.

Has its downside but i would buy it again

I use it all the time. I love listening to my music. My wife and I ride together and it’s nice to be able to talk to her and talk her through problems without taking my helmet off. Yes the battery life could be improved. Sound quality is not bad but needs to be louder. Definitely needs to be louder while speaking on the phone. However the person on the other end has no idea that I’m on a bike. So outgoing sound is great. I’d buy it again but hope they improve it as time goes on.

Nice install

Went right in to my flip front HJC. Minor problem with catching phone calls - guess I'll have to tweak it a bit more.

Worked for me

I bought two units with the main purpose of talking bike to bike. The intercom system works great but it's more of a line of sight range. I didn't sync the unit to my cell phone instead I sync my phone to my GPS and then the GPS to the unit. Turn by turn directions come through the unit loud and clear. Active talk time is about 6 hours. The xBi2-H doesn't have a DC charger available but radio shack carries one that will work.

Works fine

Installed in Symax 3. Initially, contacts would not make - contacted Chatterbox and was advised thickness of material with Symax 3 is sometimes an issue. Carefully reinstalled the connector plate and it was ok. Chatterbox personnel very helpful.

XBi2H

I was happy with how the unit integrated with the helmet and installation was very simple. I have to say that I expected much better clarity in the sound and wished the volume could be a bit louder for being exposed to road noise. The speakers are very trebley when listening to Bluetooth iPod or using the phone. I didn't get the chance to use it for rider to rider comms yet, but the speaker quality seems to lack for the price you pay. Battery life also seems to be a little less of what they indicated.

Chatterbox

Very easy installation into my HJC helmets. Several attempts to sync units together and to the bongle. Sound quality lacking (volume). More convenient than the wired intercom I've used previously but sound quality not acceptable for use at highway speeds.

Very faint

Received as a Christmas gift. Haven't had a chance to try 'em on the road. Seems very faint and tinny. We'll see this spring. Fingers crossed.

Disappointed

I received this unit as a Christmas present and promptly installed it into my IS-Max BT helmet. It was easy to install and took only minutes. I was impressed with the construction and installation. Now that it is riding season, I have had the chance to use it on several occasions. I have to say that I am totally disappointed. First off, if you turn the unit on when you already have your phone’s Bluetooth on, it calls the last number you dialed. This gets annoying, but it’s not a total deal breaker for me. The second issue I have is the volume during phone calls. I can’t hear anything! I have Scala Riders in other helmets which work just fine volume wise. I found out that if I call and hang up several times in rapid succession the volume shoots up to where I can hear everything just fine. This is a deal breaker! I can’t do this while I am riding. The volume is so poor, that I can’t use the unit anymore. Like I said, for me this unit is a total disappointment.
