Can't judge durability or effectiveness without going down wearing it. Don't plan on doing that. Airflow is good, nice and cool at even low speeds. Ok for the price. Serves it's purpose for buzzing around on a summer day. I agree with the previous reviews, so as not to be repetitive, check them out.

Only jacket I found that had the hard shoulder and elbow protection at a price I could afford. Plus an articulated back pad. Largest available was a 3X. Could use a 4X, but I guess it's time to lose a little weight. Was using a heavy leather jacket that is treated to reduce UV rays and heat absorption, but still not made for the hot days of summer. Last time I rode with that jacket, I think I got overheated..fingers cramping..eyes hard to focus..finally stopped at DQ and got some ice water and a medium cone. Finally cooled down enough to finish the ride home, but without the protective gear so I could stay cool. Felt sketchy without protection. Now I'm covered. Thanks.

This jacket is fantastic. Fits great, feels thick, and looks amazing. When it's cold the zip-out liner keeps me warm, and when it's unbearably hot I just take out the liner and open the vents. I wish it had pads in it, but for the price you really can't beat this quality jacket.

I may come back and revisit this jacket in the fall, but wearing it once out on a 80 degree ride was enough to let me know that this is a cool weather jacket. Loved the styling and materials. Didn't read this from other reviewers, so maybe my torso is too long, but would have liked this jacket to come down a bit farther and cover my belt area. As it was, the jacket would ride up, exposing 1/2" or so of my front and back.

This shirt is perfect for a summer night ride and it is pretty comfortable. I like the Kevlar and extra bit of material that it offers in the areas where there could be padding. I also bought the "rust and redemption" shirt from Speed and Strength... I immediately took the armor out because it was uncomfortable and didn't feel natural. I recommend getting this shirt if you are looking for a riding shirt in this type of style. The only thing I didn't like about it was the patch that is sewn on it. I took this off right away with a stitch remover. Looks way better now. I bought a XL and I am 6'0" 200lbs. It fits a bit loose... relaxed fit I would call it. Gives you some maneuverability.

This jacket looks appealing, and it's decently cool even in the southwestern weather. I found advice to order one size up accurate. Unfortunately, it's poorly put together. I've been using it for all of two weeks and the stitching for one of the buttonholes has fallen off, having never been stitched on well in the first place. The button simply slides out now. Now I have to go to a tailor and spend the cash to get it fixed. after a month. Extremely dissatisfied.
