    s900 Review

Pros: Great looking helmet, great features, convenient sunshade, quick release chin strap, removable inner, affordable, light. Cons: noisy! (not sure if its because I ride a half faired zrx12000), helmet turbulence is terrible - I find turbulence around my eyes which is not only distracting but can affect my vision at times.

It Doesn't Glow, But Nice Helmet

My main reason for posting this review is to eliminate any confusion about the S900 Glow Helmets. They do NOT glow like the Fost Lumi, and have NO particular reflective properties that I can detect. When I got it and saw that it didn't glow I was both pleased and annoyed. Those issues aside, Ananth's comments are spot on. This is really a nice helmet. The sun visor rocks. It took my Midland BT-2 system nicely, the speakers fit in provided recesses and stay put, and there is a fair amount of space forward for the mike (in my case). It's not the quietest helmet I've had, but it's good. Aerodynamics are good, head turn aerodynamics are good, and it looks nice. Air vents are un-impressive, but then I think most are. My only reason for the 3 finish rating was a place to record my annoyance with the naming issue.

    Excellent Helmet - Almost Perfect

I have used this helmet for about two months. I am a big fan of Shark helmets. The S900 Glow is very light and very, very quiet. It fits true to size (I wear medium and this medium fits me perfectly). The fit is snug, as it should be. So, you may find yourself sticking your fingers up the sides to adjust your ears, but once that is done, the helmet is very comfortable. The lining is plush. I love the inside dark visor. The optical clarity is superb and I love being able to flip down the dark visor and not have to change shields or carry sun glasses. Wind flow is excellent and so it's probably not going to be a great helmet for cold days. But for the summer, it's just perfect. Did I mention that it was very quiet (of course, I always ride with ear plugs). As with all Shark helmets, taking off and putting on the shield is easy as pie. Cons: The nose mask is flimsy and easily falls off. That is the reason I gave a score of 4 on finish. Otherwise, the paint job and fit and finish are top notch. Also, the name is a bit misleading because if it glows, it must do so when no one is looking.

    Shark S900 review

The Shark S900 is a (nearly) excellent helmet in most ways that is let down a bit by some small issues with the internal sun shade and mechanism. The cheap feeling top vents also don't do much for it either. Those issues aside, the S900 looks very good, has a comfortable liner, is very quiet, and the main visor is excellent in both optical quality and the mechanics of removing/replacing the shield. The 5 year warranty Shark offers on the helmet is nothing to sneeze at either. Shark helmets also excel in the safety ratings and though this particular model has not been tested yet, I've got a good feeling about it(I'll follow up on this when the SHARP rating is available). Overall the S900 is an above average helmet that could easily reach excellent if the above issues are addressed. Despite those issues, I'm very pleased with my S900 and looking forward to putting some serious miles on it this year.
