FMF was in the exhaust business when single-shock and water-cooled engines were huge innovations. Over 35 years later, FMF is still innovating in the era of the aluminum chassis and electronic fuel injection. Started in 1973 by owner and founder Don Emler in a garage in Hawthorne, California, FMF (Flying Machine Factory) was one of the first aftermarket manufacturers of motorcycle exhausts. Emler was a professional motocross racer who gained a reputation for being a motorcycle mechanical prodigy. FMF exhausts achieved national notoriety in 1974 when they powered Marty Smith to the AMA National 125 Championship. In 1988, the release of chrome-plated FMF exhaust pipes was a breakthrough hit. Then in the ‘90s when noise pollution became a hot issue, FMF exhaust products expanded to include silencers. Now, FMF exhausts and silencers are among the most popular for dirt bikes and ATVs, including PowerBomb headers and PowerCore Slip-On Silencers. Every FMF exhaust is built by hand from start to finish in the USA.

FMF travels to over 100 events a year and sponsors dozens of amateur and professional racers.
