Bridgestone Battlax BT-003 Racing Street Front Tire

Flexing MotoGP inspired muscles, the Battlax BT-003 comes to the street with about as much racing influence you can get away with. Its “Ultraction Compound” is ideally suited for track days where hard acceleration and braking are the norm. And though certainly a hard core sport bike tire, Bridgestone has made sure comfort and confidence inspiring handling traits are worked in as well.
  • Street Sport Tire with Ultimate Grip Performance is derived from MotoGP technology
  • Designed for Sporty Riding enjoyment with confident grip on streets and dry-condition circuits
  • Specially street-turned tire developed from our latest racing tire BT-003 which has achieved many victories in production-class races (600cc-1000cc)
  • BT-003RS is the successor to BT-002RS and BT-090 and covers various engine sizes and models (from middle sport class to super sport class)
  • The 3LC (3 Layer Compound) provide regular wear and the optimized pattern design provides longer wear life than ex-models: BT-002RS/BT-090
  • S shaped grooves across center of tread improve contact feeling, braking grip (for Front Tire) and traction grip (for Rear Tire)
  • Reducing Negative Ratio in shoulder part of tread improves turning ability
  • Longer Shoulder grooves than BT-003 Racing enhance WET grip and shock absorption on public roads
  • Optimized angle and shape of grooves contribute to noise reduction and improved mileage
3LC + Ultraction Compound provides the necessary performance on street, with delightful handling and enhanced grip. The breaking and cornering capability on dry circuits has been improved dramatically.

  • Center Compound consists of high grip compound which balances mileage and grip
  • Shoulder Compound consists of "Ultraction Compound" which exerts stronger grip power in braking and cornering
  • New Tread Pattern based on BT-003 Racing is tuned for increased WET grip and shock absorption on streets
  • MS-BELT provides light handling, absorbs sudden input from bumps and enhances stability and good line-holding in corners

BT003RS

I just ran these tires at Barber Motorsports Park on my Ducati 1098. I ran 29psi Rear and 30psi Front on a dry 65 degree day. The tires are really stable (no wiggling or sliding after being heated up), turn in was a little slower than a comparable Michelin but after a couple of laps your used to them, they heat up quickly and got really sticky and gummy and that would indicate a good twisty / canyon carver for the street too. I had no issues with these tires. I think Bridgestone has hit the mark with a good street / track tire at a very good price!

Best track day tire I’ve used!! Mixed reviews on them...don't know what some people are talking about. Bridgestone has done it's homework!!! Need track day or new street tires....buy ‘em!!! Can't say enough about ‘em!!!

Tires

I ended up receiving an outstanding tire that I am really happy with. I feel that it handles much better than the tires I had before and Motorcycle-Superstore gave it to me at a great price and to add icing to the cake shipping was free!

Have used, will use again

I like to think of myself as a mid-upper pack Intermediate rider. This tire warms up ridiculously fast, and holds traction well while leaned over. Run your hand over it and you'll see how sticky it is. Satisfied, if not pleased with the longevity, and for the price, can't be beat.

Knee and Toe down

2 track days at Texas World Speedway thus far, one of them in heavy rain. I never lost traction, and on the dry day, I was able to push hard into the corners and throttle hard out. I recommend these tires hands down. I got 5000 street miles on my last set, and could have gotten more, but I wasn't gonna run older tires on the track.

Best

These are the best tires I have EVER used... I have tried 90% of tires out there and they don't come close to these in every aspect. And they last longer too...

BT003's are great tires

I've got one trackday aboard my highly modified Ninja 1K and 4,000 miles and they still have at least 1,000 more street miles and another trackday left. I run 29 lbs in front and 29 in back on cool mornings. They will come up to 32 lbs when on the track and offer excellent grip and steep lean angles along with a cushy ride over bumps and imperfections. I have confidence in the canyons and the BT003's grip hard front and back under heavy braking.

bt 003 duel compound rear tire

I just got my stock rear tire on my 08 ninja 500 replaced (want a bigger bike, college forbids me from being able to afford insurance on anything bigger) with a 140/70, and it has made a huge difference. I conducted my own test, with my stock tire I could take a specific corner at 50-55 mph, but after replacing only the rear, i could glide through the corner at 75-80 comfortably, and still have a little farther to lean. This tire warms up quickly, and in this part of Wyoming there are not a lot of corners, so the dual compound helps out by preventing a flat spot. I have rode in the rain, but I always take it easy if it’s wet, but the tire seemed very stable. I have put about 300 miles on this tire, and I can see the side compound is softer; it has worn slightly from my testing the tire. I can’t wait till my front tire gets here to see the difference; this is a great tire at an amazing price.

The rear lasted me 2500 miles, and the front has another 500. These things are amazing for the price. Race tire stick with unreal pricing...Bridgestone BT003RS is hands down the best tire I have used. Dominates Powers, Power 2ct, Rosso's, Road II (obviously), none even come close in stability, braking, and dry grip.

Great Tires

I use the BT-003RS on a track only, Triumph Daytona 675. No street riding at all. I found the tires to be super grippy and predictable. I'd say that I am middle of the top-half in the intermediate group at track days and I managed to get 7 track days from the rear. It might have gone 1 more, but the left side is on the wear indicator. I used them with and without tire warmers and definitely prefer the first lap feel with the warmers. The tires definitely move around and feel squirmy when cold which is to be expected, and can take me a full lap, sometimes 1.5 laps to warm up and feel planted. Warmers aren't necessary (except to try and reduce heat cycles) but given the short sessions, why waste a lap warming up the tires? :) The local tire guy suggested 24psi rear, 28psi front COLD as a general starting point. Or 28psi rear, 29 - 31 psi front HOT (i forget, so ask your tire guy) and check your pressures often. Tire pressure can make a world of difference! Highly recommended for track day enthusiasts.

"It's Bridgestone...or Nothing"

I scrubbed a set of these at Jennings GP in July 2011, and they are simply amazing. Turn in - quick, cornering - predictable slide, warmup - great. I'm mid "I" group, on an 06 GSX-R 1000, running high 20s pressures. A midday monsoon gave me a rare opportunity - still had superb performance at a 3/5 pace (Cornering on a wet track ups the thrill factor); optimized for occasional street (25%), mostly dry track (75%) use for Inter/Adv riders. Triple trackday weekend, great wear pattern.

Only a squid would say these tires suck.

This is my 4th set. Great for a fast Intermediate track day rider. Best for the street also. Just buy it :)

Great tire! VERY sticky in the corners which is very very important for anyone interested in hittin the track. It even hooks pretty decent in the rain(clutched it to see how it would do wet and she dead hooked!) It Is not as streetable as I had hoped though. I do very little highway riding(maybe 100 miles out of the 1100 overall miles on the tire) and it has already started to flaten in the middle. Kinda disappointing since it is suppose to be a multi compound tire to prevent that. All around AWESOME tire though!!!

@ Kyle

These are DOT racing tires... the harder compound helps keep it from getting flat but it is still a racing tire... highway riding is going to wear these babies down quickly as they are mainly for track days and have the DOT qualification just if you can't afford to switch tires every time you go to the track and leave... if you want tires that get really good grip and get really good mileage look at the BT-016's... I run those all the time and I'm going to get about 6k out of the rear and probably 8k out of the front...
