Dual Sport 705

The best tire you can get, it’s not the money it’s about traction. First for a KLR650 I prefer 150/70/17 on the rear that gives you more top-end and less rpm. What you get, better wet-traction than 'Anakee', better stability than 'Diztanzia'. To finish, I think this is fresh caucho, which means hot from the oven. Shinko just released 2009. I ride from Orlando to St. Agustine back&forth with my wife, a 350 mile trip along the coast, really wet. No tire ever in wet situations gives that type of trust and confidence, dry and sticky sticky sticky, and always it’s about traction, which can be the difference between slide or not. $130 for tires is so good, $250 is the price for Pirrelli, Michelin or Conti.

Shink 705

Great on road stability with very little tire noise. Off-road the deep void helps dig through hard pack dirt and gravel. Great tire for the price for my Dual Sport Yamaha.

Awesome tires - awesome price

I got to be honest, I can't really tell that much of a difference between different tires. I guess I don't ride that aggressively. What I can tell you is that my Shinko tire looks awesome, and I can't tell the difference in performance between it and any of the other tires I have had. So, it looks better than other tires, it performs the same (to me), and the #1 reason to buy them in my book... PRICE. I could buy 2 Shinko rear tires for less than most others... and I really love how this tread pattern looks on my v-strom 650. It is thick and beefy, and looks just right. I don't know yet about tread wear, but since I could buy 2 for the price of 1 other... I'll bet the cost / mile is much cheaper than others. I have turned a few friends onto Shinko and they like them just as much.

Great Tire, Incredible Bargain

I replaced a rear Avon Distanzia with a Shinko 705, and I coudn't be happier. Excellent traction and handling wet or dry, improved traction off-road, and an incredible price. Hope they can keep up with demand and hold the pricing down. About 1,500 miles so far with no visible wear or flattening. Tread life is as yet unknown, but since the Distanzia only made it 4,000 miles, it won't take much more to impress me, especially at far less than half the price.

So Far, So Good

I can't comment on tread life yet because I only have several hundred miles on the rear so far. In every other category they excel. Keep in mind this is a dual sport tire and only has a Q rating. There are better tires available for traveling and cornering at the speed of light. Off road on gravel it's great and on the street at normal speeds I've not had a single slip or slide yet. Confidence inducing, at this price a no-brainer. I'm going to put one on the front when my Anakee gives up.

Great Tire for the Price

Bought the tire because I am cheap, but love the tire. I thought I would have to give up something over the OEM tire, maybe overall speed. But if you are doing 130mph on a Strom you are a nut. This tire is well worth the price and the quality is as good as the Big Names.

Shinko 705's

R100GS with new Shinko 705s'. Just a few hundred miles so far, but like the tires very much. Very smooth on the road and grip well in gravel. The rubber seems on the soft side, but the tread depth is very thick. I think these will compete with the Torrances quite well. So far they are great! Corner nicely and hook up well. For the money, they seem to be a real good deal!!

Great Tire!

I ride a KLR650 and do most of my riding commuting back and forth to work. I was getting about 5000 miles on the stock rear tires before they were worn out. I decided to try these tires and boy was I impressed. I've now got just under 2500 on the rear tire and the tread wear is minimal. At this point I'm thinking I'll probably get another 5000 out of it! The cornering, traction and stability of this tire over the stock one is amazing. I could tell the difference immediately after putting it on. Now when I lean the bike over I don't even think about losing traction, it just sticks and never slips. It's a real confidence boost when you're cornering on such a tall bike. For the price these tires way out perform the stock ones. I'm now just waiting for the stock front tire to wear out so I can put one of these up front.

Shinko Dual Sport Bias Tires

Well I must say I am pleasantly surprised!!! Just got back onto a dirt oriented bike after close to 20yrs and had read very good reviews on these tires. So I had Motorcycle Superstore send a pair down to Tampa where I was picking up my new to me '05 KLR. All this so that I could rail all the NC, Tenn, Georgia, SC, Virginia and W. Virginia twisties on the way back to Pa. I've been riding a modified Kaw C-10 for the last 20 months (42,000miles) traveling across the US and Canada 5 times and hitting 45 States and 6 Provinces. In all kinds of conditions SNOW, rain, hot tar, etc...and a lot of dirt (Yes the C-10's a street bike LOL) basically these tires blew me away. So far 3,000 miles in 3 weeks and 5/32” tread left (started with 11/32”) I figure they'll go 5,000mi at this rate. I'm impressed enough that I bought 3 more rears and another front to change out here and in Idaho next month on the way to Prudhoe Bay!!! Aired down they were great in the dirt as well... Kudo's to Shinko I'll be try'n their Sport/Touring tires on the Concours next! And Kudo's to Motorcycle Superstore for hooking me up on all the gear these last two years!^)- From Bike Parts to Boots and Jackets... Always here in a FLASH, competitively priced AND EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

SHINKO? Looks Good!

Ignore the tread life rating as I have had these only 1000 miles. Review: I had such good results with low cost tires on my KLR ( Cheng Shin), I decided to try it for my V-Strom 650. I asked a couple different vendors if they'd had any negative feedback on these tires- both said all good feedback as long as not overloaded. Since I don't ride two up, this is not an issue. As usual Motorcycle Superstore had them in stock, shipped next day - I had them on 3rd day after order. I've ridden them about 1000 miles, including a lot of pavement twisties and highway speeds (a little noisy, as they are a little chunky). Also hit by a downpour one day - I slowed down, of course, but no apparent loss of traction. These track dead straight. Have not tried them on gravel, but they seem chunky enough to handle it. I'm going to watch how long they last compared to the "high priced spread". I figure even if I get 80% of the wear, for 50% of the price.... I'm still ahead?

Great Tires

I have about 500 miles on these tires they have great wet and dry grip. I’m not sure how long they will last but for the price I don’t guess it matters. I recommend trying these tires.

I have approximately 1200 miles on the tires with no problems at this point in time; tires grip well on dry or wet pavement also they run quiet compared to other leading brand! I made my own depth gauge to measure tire wear in which I have no indication of tread loss yet! Rear tire grabbed reasonably well in sand even at 41 psi; however I have not tested them with a lower pressure at this time as i intend to in the spring time! I am very pleased with both the front and rear 705 shinkos and i expect to get some reasonable mileage life out of them; testing pending for next years warmer Michigan weather! Kim Jennings...

Bought a set at the beginning of this past season. Motorcycle Superstore employees must drink a pot of coffee each day, items were pulled and shipped almost faster than I could check them. These tires are fantastic, nevermind the price, I put over 3,500 miles on them and no doubt will get that much again out of them. Grip was great in all road conditions and speeds (flat out on my KLR650,little over 100mph). Handle the dirt very well for their 20% dirt rating. Fantastic buy.
