Awesome Tire
Installed this on my 2008 Yamaha XT250 and its a stock size rear. 120/80 18.
The MT90 is an excellent tire in that it rides glassy smooth and also holds pavement in both dry and wet situations beyond my expectations. Noticed my turning (bought a matched pair) is quicker, smoother, and much more balanced than the stock Cheng Shins. Not sure how long this will wear, but I’ve already got almost 500 miles on it and the nubbies are still there.
I’m VERY impressed with this tire! Off road, its alittle skitty, but its a 70/30% tire, (leaning toward street) so its not designed for offroad really. Just a fireroad tire pretty much. If you want a quality, mostly on road tire, this one is worth every penny.
Never owned Pirelli before but I can say with confidence even being my first pair, I’d buy them again in a heartbeat.
I suggest buying the MT90 in a set as the construction and materials are the same which will allow for even wear and similar handling characteristics.

I mounted a set of these on my 09 KLR650 , and love them , put 1K on them in the first month and no signs of wear yet! The only down fall to this tire is they don't offer one in a 130 X 80 :(!! But the 120 X 90 has GREAT grip on the slab and handles well off-road ! Love the tire !!!

VERY happy!
Awesome on the pavement at 30 psi, and better than I expected off road when aired down to 12 psi. At Upper Nestucca OHV area, the only trail I could not make it up was a steep trail with deep, loose, dry gravel. They handled wet rocks beautifully and will get you through the mud with some patience. On the hard pack they were awesome!!!
Will buy again.

works for me
I replaced my knobbies with these so I could get a sticker for my xr250 - with the addition of lights and other nonsense. I ride the bike the same as I did with knobbies, and it's fine. No, it's not a knobby, but you're not buying a knobby. I’ve been able to make these tires climb ski slopes (in the summer), speed down sand trails, climb rock faces, and even do ok in mud. They’re not so hot on grass, but what is. I read about wear here and there.. I don't see any excessive wear - but my bike is light. The tread wraps around enough to prevent the sidewalls from getting torn on trails with sharp rocks. I like the tires. I beat the heck out of these ones and they're standing up well at 1.5k miles.

Put them on my ktm 450 exc and they are exactly what I wanted... and what Pirelli advertises. Sticky smooth and quiet!

Choice
These are the only road tires that are approved and fit the KTM 990 Adventure. While the tire performs great it could have better tread life. Increased might be at the expense of some of the incredable traction this tire has but I doubt an extra 1000 miles or so of wear would compromise this very much. 5000 miles is stretching it, average is more in the 4000-4500 range, depending on the loading and speeds this could be shortened. Asphalt performance is very good. Corners predictably and capable of some pretty radical lean angles for a very tall bagger dirt bike! Dirt performance is acceptable for a tire of this design but not nearly agressive enough for serious off road in sand or mud. A blast on hard packed dirt and gravel roads, some "flat trackin" is quite possible!
I'm one of a group of five who own the KTM 990 and we are all hoping someone would step up with a few more tire choices for this bike but until this happens we're pretty much stuck running the Pirelli Scorpion A/T but at least it's a decent tire overall.
Superstore's prices on this tire takes some of the "sting" out of the tire life issues, but I'd still like a few more choices!

The rear tire is impressive: averaging something over 6000 miles per tire. Never lacked traction in the sand or the rock through Copper Canyon and Baja--a pleasant surprise. The front tire, on the other hand, is wholly unpredictable off the pavement. Both front and rear tires great on pavement. On my KTM 990, I am sticking with the rear Pirelli and going to a front Conti TKC80: should be the best dual sport set up. Can't justify a rear knobby given the performance of the Pirelli.

My KLX650R isn't your You Tube show bike - it's an everyday rider with a lot of pavement and gravel roads. It'll be set up with MT90AT 18's - 120 front/140 rear. We'll see how that works as vs. 21"/18" - I'm looking for a bit better pavement grip and quicker turning. MT90AT's are a perfect bet in any size, but I wish fatter 21's and 19's were available.

This is my second MT 90 rear, first one lasted over 8 k with some tread left, mainly 99 % street use.

MT-90 Scorpion rear tire review
I have used a few of these (150/70-18) on the rear of my 950 Adventure and have nothing but praise. It works great on the street and is acceptable on the hard pack. Fit the TKC's if you want to go offroading for real. I once rode 10 miles out of a remote region on the north coast on a flat and was still able to repair the tube and get home. It was smoking hot at the end of that run and I rode it for another 500 miles after the repair. Awesome.

These are awesome street tires, love them! Wouldn't recommend for off road and definitely NOT good in grass... Fire roads are as far as I would take them... Awesome on the street on my KTM 625 SXC. Thanks.

I have about 4000 miles on these tires on my DR650. Fantastic grip on the highway, which is 90% of my travel. Absolutely horrible in the grass and loose stuff. Lugs are too big and too close together for off roading. Great tire wear on the front as well! Excellent for street use on your Dual Purpose machine! Gonna try the Kings DT-966 next I think.

good tire
Have had on my husky te610 for 4500mi now. Should have taken off at 4000. But has preformed vary well on pavement, and is alright off-road. I ride hard on a very strong bike 84% pavement constantly seeking different terrain and at 4500 it is now a street slick. My next tire will be a Kings kt-966.

These are hands down the best dual sport tire I have ever owned. Incredible in the dirt and gravel and amazing on the pavement. Even after the tire had become a slick down the middle, clutch drops in the wet still lifted the front wheel in lieu of spinning. All other tires on my street ridden crf450x lasted no more than 6 wks these have lasted through 5 months of tire spinning love.

Great on the street with good wear rate. On the dirt, though, they are "squirley" at best. The tread blocks are just too close to clear away the small stones and gravel found on the fire roads and seasonal roads I ride up north. Next time, I'll look at getting the Metzler Sahara line, the Bridgestone TW line, or the Continental TKC80's.

Pirelli Scorpions
After trying several brands, I noticed that KTM mounted the Scorpions on their Adventure. This is the second set of Scorpions I've had on my Kawasaki KLR650. I put nearly 10K miles on them - which is just about twice the longevity of the other brands I've ridden. The tire rides smoothly and corners great on paved roads. I always feel secure of their integrity when riding off-road. The Scorpions are a great product and the Motorcycle Superstore delivers them promptly!
