Lonewolf121 Seattle,  WA Best tire for me I commute 165 miles everyday on a dual sport. This tire is amazing on wet and dry roads, rails the corners and is very smooth. When I go off roading this tire is surprisingly grippy, even swapped them once for knobbies; but found the Gripsters to feel better. I have owned two sets now, the last set lasted 20,000 miles.

Steve Richmond,  CA Avon Gripsters on my KLR 650 I read all kinds of reviews/forums before deciding to go with the Gripsters. Haven’t been off-road with them yet as most of my riding is street/twisties. They stick much better than the stock K70's. Very happy with them!

Bob Montagne Little Falls,  NJ My second "Gripster" I put front and rear "Gripsters" on my KLR650. I got 16,000 miles out of the rear tire, and I still have plenty left on the front. Considering I only got 6,000 miles out of my last rear tire, I'm quite happy. I just replaced my rear with another gripster, and didn't even consider using anything else. This tire is great on the road, and pretty good off road. If you have serious mud, you'll need a knobby. In fact muddy traction is pretty bad. I probably have about 1,000 miles off road, so having good road performance is more important than off road for me, and I suspect most riders.

AD Vaughn,  WA Gripster After One Month Mounted on a 2008 KLR 650. Only had the rear on for 600 miles, but so far so good. I do like the grip on highway and wet surfaces. Holds up ok in loose gravel, though it wanders a bit compared to the previous stock tire. Went on without any real trouble. Durability rating is lower because I've only had it a month and I must choose a rating.

Lee Dunn Bradford,  OH Great Tire For The Dual Sport Bike !! This is my second Avon Gripster AM24 on the rear of my '08 KLR. The stock tire was gone at 2500 miles. The Gripster I just took off had 7500 miles on it. These are a decent tire in the wet, excellent ride dry !! The Gripster on the front is about at 50% tread with minute weather checking !! Give 'em a try !!

jack daytona beach,  FL best tires On my 3rd klr 650, I have always ran the d606tires. Wow what a difference. Should have tried these tires sooner. Had them out for a good test run this weekend. Excellent on road tracking and traction. Hit some mud and they do pretty well. No problems in sand. Trail riding is good. Hope they get good mileage. Strange that the front tire is mounted in reverse of rear tire. Must be a traction thing...

William Tomball,  TX Great tires I rode a set of Gripsters all over Copper Canyon and then down to the Guat border. They are great in the twisties and on non-paved roads. (Mud is another matter.) I got over 10k miles on my rear and the front tire about 14k miles

Ed Flynn Carlsbad,  NM Nice transition from the D606's After riding with a more dirt oriented tire for the past two years, this is a nice smooth ride. I haven’t taken them off road to any extreme so I do not feel confident to make note. If I can get 7k out of them it will be a good tire. Note: these tires were the first ones I have ever had problems seating the bead. That could be a good thing - nice tight fit.

Rich Callahan,  FL They don't like mud I bought a matched set for my KLR650. I ride 5 out 7 days a week to work. I live in the country so my ride involves dirt roads. On dry days they handle the dirt good. It's a fun ride. They are smooth and grip the paved roads good. Mud is a whole different story. On muddy roads (not too muddy for cars) they are spooky. They are all over the place. Like riding on ice. Our roads are not clay either mostly sand. Haven't had them long enough to tell how long they will last. I would buy them again.

John Triplett Covington,  LA Avon - AM24 Gripster Rear Tire Not a mud tire. Was not meant to be. This is my first tire ever that I have purchased that was not a knobby. I am very surprised at the performance on gravel and hard pack. In some ways it is more stable and accelerates than a knobby. Just stay out of the mud. On street it's better than me. On my KLR650 I cannot break it loose. Very happy with this for a winter tire. It saves me $$$ on my daily commute compared to knobby's as it does not wear nearly as fast. For street use and dry off road it is highly recommended. Knobs will go back on for the summer for the crossing of the Trans American Pass. Quality tire otherwise for street and mild off road use.

Scott Yreka,  CA Avon Gripster So far so good, rides much smoother than the stock Dunlop’s. I ride primarily highway but have had no problems on gravel or packed dirt fire roads. Durability unknown as I've only had them just over a month, however, I'm hoping previous reviews of 8 to 10 K miles proves true.

Jason Columbia,  SC GREAT DUAL SPORT TIRES!!!!!! JUST GREAT!!!!!!! Stop looking for the best dual sport tires because you just found them. These are a perfect balance between on road performance and off-road handling. I got these to replace a Dunlop D606 that was way to knobby for my purposes. Off road traction really surprised me. They will not get you out of a deep sand pit or a deep mud hole, but they will handle any dry, firm dirt with authority. These will work if you need 90% on 10% off, 80% on 20% off, or even 70% on 30% off. I have nothing bad to say about them. The more I ride the more I like these tires.

Jack Brow Grass Lake,  MI My 3rd Set I've been riding Gripsters on my KLR for the last 3 years. For me, they are the best balance between good handling, good highway stability, and predictable dirt performance. There are knobbies with more off road traction, but I can't ride a couple thousand miles before the off road on a knobbie. I have more than 7000 miles on my current rear tire and probably have another 1000 left, but my next trip is 2000 miles, so I'll buy another shoe.

Half A Hog Coos Bay,  OR Great Tire Bought a set to replace the stock tires on my 08 KLR 650. Have about 100 miles on them so far and can really notice a huge improvement with cornering and straight line tracking on pavement; seem to be just as good on the hard pack gravel too. Exceptionally efficient service; it only took two days and it was free. Glad I found you on the WWW, Thanks.

Mike Loveland,  CO So far, so good After about a month of wear, these new Gripster tires are living up to their claims. Much better traction on the pavement than the stock knobby tires on my KLR 650, and good enough grip on the dirt. Since this is mostly a commuter bike for me, the gains on pavement are much more important than the slight loss in the dirt. The other thing I really like is that they hold the road much better on slotted highway concrete-not launching me left and right like the old knobbies did.

motorka denver,  CO my tire of choice For my purposes, Gripster is the tire of choice for dual sporting. Long lasting (even with bike loaded down) - the rear lasted 7000 miles - with roughly 70% pavement and 30% dirt. It is possible to get 10K out of the set, easy. The front is still in great shape and on the bike (650Dakar). I like their performance and grip on the tarmac (wet or dry) and they are not too shabby in the dirt either. Sure it is not a knobby, but Gripster is one of the best DUALSPORT tires I’ve used in last couple of years.

Alan Leeds,  AL Great dual sport tire Great tires for 90 on 10 off. Easy to install, outstanding street performance, dry or wet. They grip a curve like fly paper! Great off road ability, but not for the mud and sand.

Tim Sacramento,  CA Best Value The Gripster is hands down the best value dual sport tire on the market. The Gripster is inexpensive, very good tire mileage, handles very well on the road, will handle anything other than mud and deep sand while off-road, and airs down well. No problem with KLR touring loads.
