Fantastic KLR650 upgrade

Awesome tires! 9k miles on the rear (front tire still going). They’re much smoother then the stock! The back tire fits with not much more than a quarter inch clearance on the KLR, but they fit. Great off road, sand, gravel, water crossings, and mud. Amazingly good on street. Primarily I commute, and they get it done with style. Rebalanced at 3 or 4k and they'll last a bit longer; I run 28 in the front 30-34 pressure in the back, about to mount new one this season.

great dual sport

Much better than the typical tire called a "dual sport" like the Tourance. These actually work in the softer stuff like dirt and sand but still grip on pavement. I've touched the pegs without losing traction. I typically get about 6-7K on the rear and 7-9K on the front.

Grabs nicely

Certainly much better grab than the stock Trailwing tire that came with my '11 DR650, tested offroad today and it bites everything but sand.

These tires reach down and grab the road. Handle corners very well. When these wear out I will be putting another pair on. They give you a sense of security the way they handle, especially in the curves. Just love em. Haven't had them on wet yet and not long enough to tell about wear.

Defective -Tire not Round

I have a front tire which is not round. Found out after paying for the mount and balance. Ouch. Called Customer Service and they said send it back. It will be up to 60 days before we hear back from Continental whether they will honor a refund. I have the choice to purchase another and wait and hope Continental does the right thing. I was told to write Continental to request to payment to re-mount the tire.

Great Adv. touring tire

I ride a BMW R100GSPD two up. This is the only front tire I will run. It's tubeless, it sticks like glue on pavement(wet or dry) and handles off roading as good as most knobs and better than any other Dualsport tire. The last one went 7,000mi. It was shot, but still handled a trip to Steens Mt with plenty of off road riding just before it was retired. It's not cheap. Service here has been very good.

Good dual sport tire

I got this as a front tire for my wife’s BMW F650GS twin. We do a lot of gravel roads, and I'm always searching for a front tire that inspires confidence. We previously used the stock trail wing, and a Mefo MFE 99. The trail wing was fine for pavement/hard dirt, but not great in gravel or loose dirt. The Mefo was okay on gravel, but had horrible feel on the pavement. It's hard to describe, but it always felt like it was going to tip over, but would then stop leaning. It had great traction on the gravel, but very little feedback. The TKC 80 has been an improvement. On-road feel is much better than the Mefo. And it behaves like you would expect when leaning for turns. On gravel it does seem to offer good traction, but it doesn't offer very good lateral traction. I can feel the front moving side to side in little ruts on the gravel. And around gravel corners the tire really slips to the side as well. It has never been cause for a major pucker moment, but it isn't any more confidence inspiring on the gravel than the Mefo. Both of us like the TKC 80 better on the pavement though. It is possible that the lateral traction would be improved by running at lower pressures. With the cast wheels on the BMW, we have limited testing to ~20 psi. Those with rim locks have expressed happiness at much lower pressures. I recently tried a Metzeler Karoo 2 front tire on a different bike and really liked it. I'm also going to try a Heidenau K60 on the BMW and see which works best for us.

Ordered tires while on vacation, just what i needed for my dual sport bike. I put about 1500 miles on and off road and performed very good. Will probably buy another set when I need tires again.
