They claim it lasts longer than its previous counterpart and it appears to. This is one of if not the best mid to soft tire available!

S stands for Sand
The Michelin S12 is the best front tire I've ever used in deep sand. I think the diagonal knobs help it cut through deep ruts without resistance. It goes where you point it. It shines in sand but works well in other environments including mud, gravel and surprisingly well on pavement. It's the only tire I consider for dual sporting in Michigan. I wish it was DOT approved.
