Overall looked like a good filter and fit was perfect. However, the filter started falling apart after about 2-3 weeks.

Replace and forget it. This makes the most sense. It actually has a better seal at the base than the OEM filter, without the mess of cleaning and re-oiling. Save yourself some time.
