Works better than expected

I ride a naked bike and it stays down better than I would have expected. Cuts almost all of the cold wind from getting under. I thought the squires of velcro was stupid and choppy looking so I bought my own strips of velcro which I thinks works better and looks better when I remove the skirt.

Helment Skirt

I used one of those type skirts back in the 70's and knew the benefits of one. I lost my old one. This is the way to go on those cold days of travel. You'll be glad to have one. Great quality made skirt.

Excellent Wind Breaker

The skirt removed most of the wind noise and kept out the cold air. Only problem with the skirt is that it should be longer. I try not to move my head too much or it'll slip out of my jacket. If you can, buy one longer.

Nice idea, poorly executed.

The back is too short, and the front and sides could be longer. I find just putting my rain coats hood on, under my helmet works just as good--if not better.

I am looking forward to giving this a real test in the near future when it begins to rain hard again.

Nice Product

I have to agree with those that stated that it needed to be a bit longer. It does a fantastic job cutting down wind noise and keeping me warm.

Excellent on a cold day.

I ride down to 30F and this adds a HUGE amount of warmth. It keeps the wind out of my helmet and allows the heat from my electric jacket to rise into my helmet. I wish I bought this at the beginning of last winter! It also cuts down on wind noise. The only problem is sometimes when I turn my head, the fabric bunches up and leaves an opening for the wind to blow through. Tucking it into my jacket helps.

Great at Breaking Wind

Installed the Skirt in a few minutes and took a test ride in 0 deg C (32 F) and was very impressed by how warm my neck and face was, well worth the $.

pleasantly surprised

I held off buying this last winter because it looked like it would be too short to be effective. I was so wrong. This thing is fantastic! Rain and wind are effectively kept out of my helmet and suit. Does create a bit of a weird negative pressure inside the helmet, but I'm dry and warm enough to actually notice such a small thing. Wish I had bought it last year.

Worth the money

I've had more neck gators than I can count & this one helmet skirt has replaced them all. It's easy to install & remove when you don't need it. I've used it in the rain, in the cold and a combination of both. Unlike the gator's it does not restrict your neck movement but keeps you just as warm (and dry)! Rolls up into its tube-like pencil case size pouch for easy packing too. Definitely worth the money.

Best Way to Keep Your Helmet Warm

Going on my second winter with this product. It’s the second helmet skirt I’ve owned, and it replaces a different brand I used for over a decade. This one is superior in the way it attaches to the helmet. It uses Velcro and is very secure (old one was like a Halo band that held on with stretchy rubber which fell off at high speeds). I can go any speed on the highway and this one will hold on. The only problem is that the material is not rigid enough to withstand high speeds and it flaps all around, sometimes slapping my neck. I have been using a safety pin to fold the lower part in the front, thus making if a little more snug at the bottom (helps somewhat). If the next version has more rigidity and doesn’t flap in the wind, I’ll give it a perfect score!

Updated review

Well, I will say that this is durable. The Velcro is very good. It will keep air out of your helmet, with some work. In my opinion, it will keep air out, if you can tuck it into your jacket. For me, it just wasn’t long enough. I ended up using the mini gaiter on top of it to keep it down and inside of my jacket. But you will warm up quick. Also, on a sport bike, because its shorter in the back you may get air on the back of your neck. So bottom line, if the manufacturer made it longer to tuck inside of your jacket, it would be worth the buy. Regardless if they made it longer, it still is overpriced.

Schampa Helmet Skirt - pass if you ride a fully-faired bike

I've put about a hundred miles over two days with my new Schampa Helmet Skirt. I ride a Burgman 650 Exec with an extra-tall windscreen. The helmet skirt does not work well with my bike. There's a lot of back-pressure/negative-pressure caused by my bike's fairing, and the skirt tends to lift a lot and flap around. As it does so all the cold wind hits my neck. I've mitigated this somewhat by wrapping a strap around the skirt at about mid-neck level, but breezes still slip in. My normal fleece neck gaiter, though more bulky, does a better job at keeping my neck warm and cold breezes from slipping into my jacket through the collar. This skirt may be more affective on a naked bike, but buyer-be-warned if you have a full fairing.
