2 Visors Up!

The IS16 has a good amount of air flow around the mouth, nose and just below the eyes. I cannot feel any air on the top of my head, but the top of my head does not feel hot at anytime. I chose the white model for the sun reflection and higher visibility in traffic. This helps out a lot in the California sun and traffic. The helmet is very nicely made and looks like an expensive model. The HJC sticker on the front can be removed and will make the helmet look clean. The visor is easy to remove. The inner sunshield is worth the purchase alone. I commute 5 days a week and I had to take a tinted visor for the ride home. This was the main reason I bought this helmet because of the inner visor. Inside the box were an amber inner visor and 2 extra screws for the side plates. The storage bag was also included but I use the Tour Master bag purchased at the same time. In a Shoei RF1000 I wear a Large, this helmet I wear a Medium. The cheek pads were tight, but after 4 weeks they are a perfect fit. The wind noise (sometimes a booming sound) is loud when on the freeway at speed. I wear ear plugs and the sounds do not bother me at all. The visor does have an option to crack the visor about 3/16 or so, and with the inner shield down its great to ride at slower speeds with more airflow. For the money, you can't go wrong with the HJC IS16.

Highly recommend

I love this helmet... very little wind noise, fits great, can really feel the air flow, little/no fogging, looks aggressive, and the flip down sun shade is a great feature. I did some research before buying this helmet and found that HJC didn't make bad helmets, but also nothing extraordinary; however this helmet broke the mold and came highly recommended. It's a great helmet, with plenty of features and an awesome look at a very fair price.

Good ventilation, comfortable fit and the drop down sun shade is a definite plus, even with sunglasses.

Awesome Helmet

This is my fourth lid, and it is by far the lightest one I've had (two KBCs and an Icon). Ventialtion is really good, and I like the retractable shade feature, it is really easy to use. The ventilation results in some wind noise, but nothing that earplugs don't handle.

Great Feel but a Bit Noisy

This is a huge step up in comfort from my beginner HJC helmet. The internal padding is truly great and very comfortable. The spring system on the visor is also improved and provide a tight seal when your visor is down. The only problem is the amount of noise in the helmet which, while certainly bearable, is greater than my previous helmet. Noise does not seem to be affected by whether or not ventilation is open or not.

Perfect helmet

My previous helmet was a flip-up HJC model. I loved the internal sun visor but at highway speeds on a street bike, the headwind was just too much for a flip-up lid since it is more bulky and less aerodynamic. Now I have the best of both worlds!

Great buy!!

Spent a couple of days researching and reading reviews and watching videos on a bunch of different helmets. This is perfect for the price and for what I needed. I wear small caps and this fit great. Love the sun visor that is separate from the face shield. As for wind noise, one day on PCH in Malibu it was very windy and that was when it was loud other than that not really that loud.

Great Helmet

This helmet fits my wife and I perfectly using the sizing chart. Air flow is excellent. The helmet feels very light when wearing it all day. The sun shield is very handy, but we will probably swap out for a darker shade. Overall, great helmet. Definitely would recommend/purchase again.

Good Bang for the Buck

I have this same helmet but in the open face version. This style HJC helmet fits me better than other brands. The vents flow plenty of air. I can feel it when I open the top vents. The sun visor is nice if you transition from shady to sunny areas. The only concern I had was the visor didn't close easily. Mine had the visor cracked and the pamphlet was stuck in it. This deformed my visor slightly. After riding in the sun a few times it is closing more easily now and seals out the wind.

Great First Helmet

So..This is my first helmet..and don't have any previous experience to compare against..keep that in mind. There were no reviews for this helmet. I read through the reviews of the HJC FS-10, then went with this one since it's a little cheaper. The cheek pads are a little snug, but with the usage this helmet is getting it has become a lot more comfortable. I wish there was a little more airflow while riding..but really can't complain..haven't fogged up the visor. The drop down sun visor is great..have used it multiple times!! Overall..this is a great first helmet.

Great Helmet!

This helmet is amazing! On my last helmet i went cheap but this one i decided to spend a little extra money and it was well worth it. The fit is a little snug but I’m between sizes and went the smaller one so that was somewhat expected. The extra sun blocker makes it well worth the money as i use it all the time but also left the clear visor on for now. The air flow is amazing the holes for the flow are pretty big too. I went with the anthracite color and it shines in the light and gets me plenty of compliments. I was worried about spending the extra money, but if you have it i definitely recommend this helmet. I live in AZ and airflow is the key here but if you’re in colder climates all the vents are seal able.

Quality helmet for a great price. Fit and finish are top notch. Interested to see how the sun visor holds up over time. My last hjc helmet lasted 15 years.

Great helmet, but not the quietest...

I've been wearing a Shoei TZ-1 (predecessor to the TZ-R) for 8 years, and decided it was time for a new lid. I liked the look of the IS-16, liked the flip-down sunscreen, and found many favorable reviews which touted it's lightness and excellent venting. Overall I am VERY happy with the helmet. The build quality is excellent, as good as or better than my old Shoei. It's is very stable at highway speeds (even on a naked bike), flows a LOT of air, is super comfortable, light weight, and the main visor is clear. Of note is that there are large ear pockets which should allow fitting speakers. I also wear eyeglasses, and they fit easily between my head and the soft inner padding. Great helmet at a great price.
