Arai Corsair V helmet

This is my fourth Arai helmet and they somehow seem to keep improving their products in comfort and light weight.

Nice helmet; worth the cost?

I've had Arai helmets for years. The Corsair is the lightest by far. I paid the most for this helmet than I have any of my others but I think the quality has taken a slide backward. The cheek pads want to come out when I put the helmet on. The gears that allow the visor to move are already giving and making it difficult to change out. In the end, I don't know of another helmet I would purchase. I just wish Arai would put as much money into their parts as they're getting out of their consumers.

Quirks

For such an expensive helmet, I would expect more. The top vent tabs broke straight away. This happened on my older Corsair as well. Ventilation is not great, either. Ok but not worth the extra $$. The fit, as always, is excellent

Sketchy parts

The corsair V fits very nicely, but the top vent tabs seem to wear out rather quickly and either not stay open or closed. I've had two different Arai helmets and they have both done this. Ventilation is about average and comparable to other less expensive helmets and the road noise is pretty loud. I'd recommend this helmet for the fit, but that alone isn't worth the price...

Not quite worth it.

Initially I was very excited to receive my Corsair. I've talked to bikers who swear by it, and I didn't want to sacrifice a dime to protect my head. Arai's got a multitude of helmets for variously shaped noggins - though you'd have to visit a retail store with a massive selection for you to try on to actually get this benefit. The small plastic "switches" that open and close the airflow ports are quite flimsy and have broken on mine. The noise at fwy speeds is nearly unbearable, and don't get me started on changing the shield with those odd pods. Despite the dated shape, I would say that the helmet is still quite aerodynamic. You would think an $800 helmet is made of exotic materials and would be fairly light, but this thing is heavy! It's a great helmet, with decent quality, but there's nothing truly unique and revolutionary about this expensive helmet.

Arai Corsair V Helmet Review

When I initially received this helmet, it seemed to fit fine, but when I went on an all day ride, it had pressure points on my right upper forehead and left ear. I had my head measured with a tape measure, and was wearing the right size helmet. The small vents on the faceshield were finicky, and one of them even popped off once, luckily when I was stopped, not going down the road. I sent the helmet back. I was not impressed.

Corsair V... get something else

Purchased it for $600 & have to say it was a bad investment. I expected better. the helmet does fit nicely. However, noise is bad. there is a bad whistle when ducked tight under speed. the vent clips on top are barely manageable with gloves, and top vents...useless. most of the air coming in is from the eyebrow, and chin vents. the clip for the wing on the back broke off on a fall from the couch. Hate to think of worst situations. BTW the Arai parts site has been down for ages. Cant order parts.
