Squared off rear

Really enjoyed this tire both on-road and off, on my 650 dual sport. Got about 3000 miles on the 5.1x17", however by about half life, the profile had become distinctly square. Note that I avoid freeway droning as much as possible, so should be on the edge of the tire as much as anyone. When tipping into corners, there would be a very noticeable shift from the flat of the profile to the edge, which was a little unnerving. Otherwise was a fantastic tire.

It works

Running these on a 500 and a 250. I found them to mount fairly easily compared to some tires I have dealt with. Took my 250 out for a 2 hour spin on dirt and wet pavement right after the tire was mounted. The only place where it didn't stick well was on slippery clay mud over a hard base. I'll probably buy another when I have worn this one out. So far, so good.

what a tire

Bought a set of these last year for my DR200, got over 4k out of the rear tire then switched to a kenda didn't get nearly as many miles out of that one, by the time the kenda needed to be replace the front tire did too so I bought another pair. They grip hard pack like crazy, gone up some amazing steep power line hills with no wheel spin, they just grip. The front tire can be a bit scary at speed in the looser stuff, (make sure you slide up on the seat) Mud, why would you even think for a second that they are going to work well in mud? LOOK at the tread lol. They do clean out nicely though, after i have spun my way across a mud crossing the tread was always clean On street riding they are very predictable tires, never any surprises. Of course my bike is no road race rocket at only 200ccs. both tires work really well under hard breaking, and hold a line really well. Wet traction...I try not to ride in the rain, no rain gear :)

Shinko 244 on rear of plated xr650r

The best rear tire I have found that can last more than 2000 miles on a mix of pavement and dirt roads.I did a 3 week ride in Baja(border to Cabo and back) and made it on 1 back tire.I use the large 5.10x18 size.

Good for dirt not for highway

I've put about 500 miles on these tires and they are clearly eaten up a little and they can spin out in the dirt with not really grabbing but you get what you pay for. I think I would buy them again still. They do have pretty good value.

Good all around tire

I put the Shinko 244 tire on my '06 XT 225. The tire was shipped quickly and for an unbeatable price. I haven't ridden much on the tire, but I bought it because of all the great reviews. I definitely will be ordering from Motorcycle Superstore again.

Very Affordable

I replaced the front tire on my FJR1300 and have really enjoyed the handling of this tire. I can't rate it highly for tread life or wet traction because the tire is brand new (who knows how long it will last) and it never rains in Arizona, so I may never discover how well it handles in the rain! Good value, and nice handling. I've put over 2,000 miles on the tire in the last month and it feels great!

Installed on KL250 Super Sherpa front and rear

They are a little noisy on the road but they are very solid in the dirt. Okay in shallow mud but sand can be a challenge. As far as dual sport tires go all tires are a compromise. There are better tires for the street or the trail, but this tire is tough for me to beat for its ability to do both. I'm about 70% street 30% dirt and trails, and this tires gets me there. It's also extremely inexpensive.

Shinko 244, Front & Rear

I have these tires on both of my Dual Sport bikes, a 1973 Yamaha 360 Enduro (RT-3) which is my daily rider and is BARELY street legal, and my Kawasaki KLX250S with a 330cc big-bore package that includes a pumper-carb (Mikuni) and full power-bomb/DG exhaust pipe. They perform better than anything else I have seen or tried! Mark--San Diego area, riding off-road since 1969

Shinko 244 Golden Boy

I needed a new front tire on my Yamaha XT225, and the selection of 2.75-21 tires is not what it used to be. Shinko still makes this size and this model is a reasonable match to the rear tire I have on the bike. The tire installed fine and rides like it is supposed to. I can't attest to longevity, but I am entertained by the name molded into the sidewall: Golden Boy. Great name for a tire. I can't wait to ride on a really rough track so I can report how well the Golden Boy takes a pounding.

Excellent tire for the money

I just ordered my third set of the Shinko 244's. These tires are really good on the road, offroad and ok in the mud. My first set I got over 8000 miles out of on my ttr250 - probably could have gotten another few thousand. I have two bikes and these are on both now. Bought these originally because of all the good reviews people gave them. These are a solid performer.
