Product Information

Pirelli XCMH Dual Sport Front Tire

In the world of dual sport, the Pirelli XCMH are some of the most aggressive and dirty worthy DOT knobby tires out there. Rated as an intermediate to hard terrain tire, the XCMH is nevertheless a great all-rounder with impressive traction in sand, mud, and slick conditions. And in spite of the excellent dirt performance, the XCMH doesn’t mind excursions on the pavement when you’re trying to connect trails.
  • R-rated for speeds up to 106 mph
  • Based on the MT18 provides excellent durability and traction on intermediate to hard terrain
  • Three-layer high modulus construction reduces weight; provides stronger carcass to reduce knob deformity
  • Heavy-duty design with stiff carcass for high speed off-road riding or racing
  • Tube type

XCMH Front Tire

Riding a WR250R Coming from the MT-21 front, the XCMH is a huge improvement off-road. I've only ridden on it once at a dual-sport ride. 181 miles of mostly technical single track consisting of rocky terrain with 30+ creek crossings, some roots, muddy ruts, etc. I ran this tire at 9psi ( with Tubliss ) and it performed very well. Time will tell how long this tire will last, but for the riding I do, I'm more concerned with traction than longevity.

Excellent tire

I currently have 1800 miles of both on and off road riding with this tire on my WR250R. I usually run 12.5 rear psi and 14 front psi for off road and will add about 2 psi to each tire for on road. They hook up off road very well, and feel very stable at speed on road. I rode the dragon in TN and the little dragon and had no issues laying the bike over like a sport bike. In fact, on the tight twisties, the sport bike guys couldn't pull away from us. So to say they are stable at speed on black top would be an understatement. Now this is a light bike and I'm not a big guy (165#). My only significantly quick wear came when I two upped with wife on a 300 mile road trip (Lets just say she is not the size of model anymore and leave it at that). So in summary, I am extremely satisfied with the way these tires have worked and I have already purchased another pair waiting to mount for a summer trip to Colorado.

Stability is soft on pavement

Great off road. I use 70/30 off/on road use. Tread life seems ok at 3k. For the 30 percent of on road riding I do it works but stability is soft/floating during braking on pavement. Star rating is for on road use.

Not tough enough

On a weekend trip to the trails of eastern Oregon, both myself and a buddy managed to flatten these tires twice each (both were new). Were both on well setup KTM's. I'm running the TuBliss system and my buddy HD tubes. Our other two riding partners were on different tires without any problems. All four flats were in the center casing from hitting rocks. Tire pressures were from 15 to 17. For a HD tire, the casing is a bit weak. Both changed to another tire, end of problems.

XCMH

A rather underrated dual sport tire, the XCMH front has proved to be an outstanding choice. Predictable over almost every type of riding surface (sand, mud, rock, gravel and hardpack), I’ve found the XCMH to be extremely forgiving even when pushed and traction breaks momentarily. Run at 15psi for both street and dirt, the XCMH has also delivered surprisingly good mileage. Currently at around 1500 miles (about 500 street miles), it should last for a couple hundred more. As a 90% dirt/10% street tire, I have a hard time thinking of a better alternative. Paired with Kenda Trakmaster II and Pirelli MT43.

Great DS tire

If you have a dirt oriented dual sport bike, this is the tire! Much better traction in a wide variety of conditions than the D 606 it replaced. Adequate performance on pavement but I don't push them to the limit. Tread life on this type of tire is reduced by riding on pavement, regardless of brand.

Love these tires

Have had them on 3 KTMs now (400, 300 and 350). They are great offroad tires. Dont have a tremendous on road usage of them but they keep me legal. They are not the smoothest on highway and dont think I would want to run them when wet but these far outperform the D606s that I have run previously. These are as good as the offroad tires that I had on the KTMs.

Great tire offroad.

Tire is great offroad, but wears down very quick on the street. I usually run the trackmaster II's, I can get about 1500 miles out of a rear and 3-4000 out of the front. At 300 miles these tires are almost at 35-40% tread left, going back to the trackmasters.

XCMH Tire

Put this on a XR650L and it performed really good. Rode 180 mi. on dirt and gravel roads. Also about 70 on pavement, a little noisy on pavement but hooks up well on both dirt and pavement. Might be my new go-to tire.

Great Tire

This tire is great, no more wash out in corners on hard packed roads or trails. After riding dirt trails hit some mountain hwys and the tire did great in the turns just like my Dunlap 606 front tire. The Dunlap 606 would wash out on hard packed roads but this XCMH Pirelli is great. I run a Dunlap 606 rear and Pirelli XCHM front, its a great combo for my DRZ 400s. I read many reviews before buying tires and this combo was correct. Never drove it on wet pavement so I cant give rating.

Great DOT tire for offroad use

This is the best DOT tire I've used yet for off-road application. It is a little squirrelly on pavement, especially until it is broken in a little. If you are running an enduro, or dual sport ride where off-road traction is very important, and your tires must be DOT, this is probably a good choice. On pavement performance is adequate, but not impressive.

Great tire...

Just put this tire on before a 1200 mile, week long, dirt ride across Oregon and it held up great through all conditions... rocks, mud, silt, gravel, ruts, hail covered roads, and streams... basically was ridden on everything but snow/ice and helped keep me upright and rollin'. And still plenty of tread for more.

D.O.T. Race tire

I replaced a 756 with one of these in 2004 and my cornering improved along with some improvement in straight line stability. I now run them on all 3 of my bikes.

Impressed

For the price, there really is no equal, I have about 1000 miles on them, so far they are a responsive tire. Onroad you have to watch your speed as they drift, which is pretty fun but gets sketchy at 75 mph. Offroad and aired down to 15-18 psig they are really good.

Best one yet

I use this tire in all conditions...except deep mud. From the desert to the single tracks, this tire handles great and is very durable. I NEED a heavy duty carcass tire for Baja, Dez, and long dualsport rides, and this has done it all well. I've been using it on my CRF450X, and will be mounting one on my 650R next.
