Pirelli XCMH Dual Sport Front Tire

In the world of dual sport, the Pirelli XCMH are some of the most aggressive and dirty worthy DOT knobby tires out there. Rated as an intermediate to hard terrain tire, the XCMH is nevertheless a great all-rounder with impressive traction in sand, mud, and slick conditions. And in spite of the excellent dirt performance, the XCMH doesn’t mind excursions on the pavement when you’re trying to connect trails.

Great tire...

Just put this tire on before a 1200 mile, week long, dirt ride across Oregon and it held up great through all conditions... rocks, mud, silt, gravel, ruts, hail covered roads, and streams... basically was ridden on everything but snow/ice and helped keep me upright and rollin'. And still plenty of tread for more.

Put this on a XR650L and it performed really good. Rode 180 mi. on dirt and gravel roads. Also about 70 on pavement, a little noisy on pavement but hooks up well on both dirt and pavement. Might be my new go-to tire.

If you have a dirt oriented dual sport bike, this is the tire! Much better traction in a wide variety of conditions than the D 606 it replaced. Adequate performance on pavement but I don't push them to the limit. Tread life on this type of tire is reduced by riding on pavement, regardless of brand.

A rather underrated dual sport tire, the XCMH front has proved to be an outstanding choice. Predictable over almost every type of riding surface (sand, mud, rock, gravel and hardpack), I’ve found the XCMH to be extremely forgiving even when pushed and traction breaks momentarily. Run at 15psi for both street and dirt, the XCMH has also delivered surprisingly good mileage. Currently at around 1500 miles (about 500 street miles), it should last for a couple hundred more. As a 90% dirt/10% street tire, I have a hard time thinking of a better alternative. Paired with Kenda Trakmaster II and Pirelli MT43.

This tire is great, no more wash out in corners on hard packed roads or trails. After riding dirt trails hit some mountain hwys and the tire did great in the turns just like my Dunlap 606 front tire. The Dunlap 606 would wash out on hard packed roads but this XCMH Pirelli is great. I run a Dunlap 606 rear and Pirelli XCHM front,its a great combo for my DRZ 400s. I read many reviews before buying tires and this combo was correct. Never drove it on wet pavement so I cant give rating.

Love these tires

Have had them on 3 KTMs now (400, 300 and 350). They are great offroad tires. Dont have a tremendous on road usage of them but they keep me legal. They are not the smoothest on highway and dont think I would want to run them when wet but these far outperform the D606s that I have run previously. These are as good as the offroad tires that I had on the KTMs.

Outstanding DOT dirt tire...

OK, so this is the most aggressive DOT tire I have used, only having used the TKC80 and Pirelli MT-21 fronts in the past. Both of those are better pavement tires, but I was pleased at how well the XCMH stuck on the dry pavement (had no wet days, so gave it a "3", the site would not accept the review without a rating) other than increased vibration through the handlebars. And in the sand and rocky dirt it was leagues ahead of anything else I have tried. Just completed a 2700 mile border to Cabo and back RT ride, time wise 50% dirt (maybe 700 miles of dirt) without tire change. Yeah the knobs were all rounded at the end but not a lot shorter...and yes it no longer stuck as well in the dirt, but pavement handling was still great and even in the dirt was at least on par with a new 50/50 tire. It was paired with a D606 rear on an Husqvarna TE610E. I would highly recommend both these tires for Baja combined riding. Will by this Pirelli again. Great price and reasonable delivery time from this seller. Very pleased!

I use this tire in all conditions...except deep mud. From the desert to the single tracks, this tire handles great and is very durable. I NEED a heavy duty carcass tire for Baja, Dez, and long dualsport rides, and this has done it all well. I've been using it on my CRF450X, and will be mounting one on my 650R next.

For the price, there really is no equal, I have about 1000 miles on them, so far they are a responsive tire. Onroad you have to watch your speed as they drift, which is pretty fun but gets sketchy at 75 mph. Offroad and aired down to 15-18 psig they are really good.

Great tire offroad.

Tire is great offroad, but wears down very quick on the street. I usually run the trackmaster II's, I can get about 1500 miles out of a rear and 3-4000 out of the front. At 300 miles these tires are almost at 35-40% tread left, going back to the trackmasters.

Great DOT tire for offroad use

This is the best DOT tire I've used yet for off-road application. It is a little squirrelly on pavement, especially until it is broken in a little. If you are running an enduro, or dual sport ride where off-road traction is very important, and your tires must be DOT, this is probably a good choice. On pavement performance is adequate, but not impressive.

Put on the front of my DR650 with IRC GP-1 rear, great improvement off road, really bites good up front. Decent on road - likes to turn in quick, haven't tried it in wet on road.
