What can you say about K&N filters. The company is well established. Can only say that the filter was the right one and fit my bike (which is saying a lot, because it is a rare bike, and finding anything to fit it is hard). Not many places on the West Coast carry this filter but it is worth it's weight in gold. I use K&N air filters also on KFX400 and LT Z400 quads. Incidentally, not only did the Superstore have them in stock, their price was half what dealers charge. Thanks.

Not being a filter engineer, I can't really say how good of a job this filter is doing. Being that it's a K&N I'm trusting in their name that its quality. What it's really about is that 17mm nut on the front of the filter...Now I don't have to ram a screwdriver through the filter and drip hot oil all over to get it off..Although the nut doesn't always hold up, I can still grab it with some vice grips

These new filters have a nut welded on the can allowing easy removal of filter with just a socket, and box end wrench ect. Also, it appears that the wall thickness of the can to be thicker, if your bike has a filter located on the bottom of the engine, as my ducati, this seems added protection, against puncture from road debris.

I like these filters. The reputation of K&N makes it easy to be a fan of this product. The filtration is as good as/if not better than OE, and K&N adds one VERY useful addition to their product that I can only wish would be copied by other manufacturers: A welded-on nut at the front of the filter which allows the use of either a wrench or socket for VERY EASY installation/removal. No more messing around with those crazy Filter "wrenches" which are a real pain...to say the least. Why others didn't come up with this before is beyond me. As an added bonus, it's a great place to attach safety wire (for those of us who race-where it's mandatory).

The one reason I got this filter is the 17mm bolt head on the bottom of the filter. Makes swapping out the old one with a new one a 1 min operation! No need to remove the full side fairing on my cbr to try and get an oil filter wrench in there and hope I get enough leverage! Just use a ratchet with a ext, pull the fairing back a bit...and done!

I was turned onto K&N oil filters by my F150 tuner and sure enough we took a fram filter and K&N right there and pressed on the rubber seal through the openings with a small piece of plastic to see how hard the oil pressure had to be to open the seal and sure enough the plastic would bend on the fram, the K&N opened with very little resistance. This my friends is what your oil has to fight through so why make it fight? Try it out yourself and you'll see a lot of commercial filters that don't play so nice with your oil. Granted you need some kick back from the seal but it's not supposed to be that hard.

08 cbr600rr Getting any filter off on this bike requires removal of the fairings. With the Gold oil filter I can remove the filter without taking the fairings off. One genius idea that makes this filter worth buying. I will be purchasing another one soon.

I appreciate the nut on these filters. It makes installing to the specified torque easy and makes removal even easier. No hassle trying to get a filter wrench into tight spaces to remove the filter! Hard to judge the performance of the filtering media other than to rely on the K&N reputation for quality. I use K&N Oil & Air filters on all of my powersports equipment.

I always buy K&N and have never been disappointed but then again how would I compare it to another filter? I play it safe and buy K&N - prefer to be on the safe side.

K&N is an established company known primarily for air filters. This is the first time I have tried one of their oil filters. It was exactly what I ordered and fit fine. I especially like the attached nut for installing with a box wrench, not a filter wrench or strap wrench. The price is a little high, but not bad, considering if you have to pay full price for an OEM filter from the bike shop. I would buy another.

Great oil filter. Durable and works. What more do you need in a filter? An oil filter wrench does not fit, but the filter has a 17mm nut built in. Only downside: I had to pay $22 for an oil filter wrench to remove the stock BMW filter. K&N makes a great filter, so I'm sure I will never use the oil filter wrench again. Small price to pay to keep the bike purring!

I love the ease of these filters, having the nut at the edge for easy removal. Oil filter wrenches were a nightmare for me because that area is hard to reach, gets greasy, etc. I expect it will perform as well as most superbikes filters as well so I'm very pleased.

If you get the filter with the 17mm nut attached, make sure you use a 6-point socket or wrench to take it off. A 12-point socket or wrench will round it off. I had to puncture the filter and drive it off with a screwdriver and hammer. Otherwise it is a good filter, and it came with the gasket attached.

For the v star 1100 there is supposed to be two o rings that come with the filter... K&N do consider it prudent to include said o rings. So expect to go to the dealer and pay five bucks a piece... next time i'll order another brand that comes with the o rings for the same price as the filter alone from K&N...
